Van the man. This British rocker has so much soul, and he can do it all. Rock and Roll. Soul, Jazz (like this) and anything else. He is the real deal. He's been around since 1965 writing and singing songs.

Van's one of my favorite artists, and this is my favorite song of his. I would describe it as singer-songwriter rock with heavy jazz influences. Since you found this a bit challenging, I think you're next one from him should be his most catchy, accessible song, "Brown Eyed Girl". But he has a lot of fine songs.

I was a singer (non-professionally) all my life and I'll attest that this song is really hard to sing -- the jazz chords & intervals, rhythmic changes and phrasing plus a hell of a lot of lyrics to learn! Loved "it sounds expensive" -- perfect description. Try his ballad "Tupelo Honey."

What a cool way to describe what you're picturing in your minds eye!!!!! For me, I'm just being straight up cause it's the truth...It takes me back to the days when we used to get ready to go out at my place and all of us chicks would put on some Van and light up my bong and making drinks to get primed. Jack and Coke for me. It sets a tone. I wish you would have liked it better. I think it's VERY cool that your teacher thought enough of you to give you a box set of Sinatra!

There’s so many to choose from his catalogue- so versatile is Van - can hit the blues, jazz, R&B, Celtic soul, folk. - he has his own genre in a way - check out “flesh and bones” or “here they come again” or “ain’t gonna moan no more” instead of going to his usual classics

What a great vocalist Van the Man is. Saw him at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, 11/2/74, front row! I love the combination of jazz, blues, swing and rock that Van Morrison gives you on every album. My favorite album is "Saint Dominic's Preview". I especially love the title cut and "Jackie Wilson Said." Other fine cuts from this great artist are "Wavelength", "Caravan", "Wild Night", "Days Like This" (gorgeous horns, Biz), "Gotta Get You Off My Mind", "Gloria" and "Here Comes the Night" (both with his band Them).

I grew up in south Louisiana. A lot of Van's songs are staples around here. I knew him and his songs all my life, but I didn't hear this till I was in my late 20's! I love this song! Now my stepson could play this with ease! We aren't upper class by any means. His mom was on drugs back in the day and he went into an upper lass foster home for a bit where he was introduced to piano and classical music. This is more jazz.

“I’m too broke to be listening to this shit right now!” Hell yeah! 😆😂 The #1 best line and the best reaction to this song that I have yet seen! And happy to subscribe to BizMatik’s channel… especially after watching such complete waste-of-time reaction channels like He Who Shall Not Be Named, 😏🤷🏼 not by me at any rate… as he was just sitting there sucking the energy out of the room… barely nodding his head along to what is objectively a world-class, funky jazz groove! All the while a vaguely bored expression sat humorlessly upon his unchanging countenance…until the song mercifully came to an end. 🤦🏼😏 Yet even more infuriating were the ‘nuggets of nothing’- (phraseology I coined long ago for comments and ideas thought to be rather deep and important by the author or speaker of such prose, yet deemed quite vacuous by a consensus of said readers and listeners. 🙄🤷🏼😅) …which he delivered at the end, but were nothing but a few generic comments not even remotely resembling introspective or humorous thoughts, comprised neither of truth or wisdom. Some folks should not be on KZbin! BizMatik is a natural fit, though. Has that awesome blend of realness with a great sense of humor. He is who KZbin was made for! 🤙🏼

Tenor Sax where you thought 'trumpet' - but yeah, it's called like "Yacht Rock" lately, (hate that term) but it's Fusion Jazz-rock. Funny how you think this is Upper-Class, since the 50s and 60s this genre was looked down on by large segments of the population as low-life music. So many excellent Van Morrison choices, but I'll suggest TUPELO HONEY, SUMMERTIME IN ENGLAND (Common One album, 1980), and some newer stuff like WHERE HAVE ALL THE REBELS GONE? (with Eric Clapton) and THE LONG CON.
