the leaf is just to keep moisture in and prevent light from hitting them through the cloth incase you don't have those, just use wet papertowel and cover with a dark cloth that's thick enough to keep light out or use double cloths to wrap it up :)

Yes, yes, yes, I love to eat them all the time. These are loaded with fibers, protein, niacin, thiamin and other vitamins. Make them kimchi, stir fry them with mushroom or bamboo shoots, onions, ginger and lite choyu. I love to eat these very much. Sometimes I cook them in panscake like with other vegetables with eggs and a little flour a little hot pepper, and shalots salt and ground black pepper. It becomes a meal by itself.

Cool! We do something like that with corn to sprout for beer. I'll try the baskets next time. Roots have to be removed, so it should be easy to cut them off.

Very cool…thanks so much. I watched lots of videos on growing sprouts for my chickens and this is by far my favorite. Other videos claim you need sun but this proves you absolutely do not! Are those banana leaves? I suppose that doesn’t matter…just wondering if you use banana leaves for the potassium.

How about just putting the beans in a glass jar with cheesecloth over secured with a rubber band on the kitchen counter? I have been using this method for years. Fill jar with water, drain a couple times a day, in three days you will have sprouts. Works with alfalfa, broccoli, etc. seeds. U can leave sprouts in jar for additional greening to your taste.
@tonester19649 ай бұрын
So, you suggest a large Mason jar then cover the top with cheese cloth? How about the environment for it? Does it have to be warm and dark?

This instruction is so general, where do you keep the sprouts while you are waiting for them to grow? In the dark, out in the sun, in cool place ?
@1LuckyGirl1975 Жыл бұрын
They need to be kept in a warm and dark place. Too much light makes it have the same photosynthesis problem as soy sprouts. (Heads are green instead of yellow). And given many can't get their hands on banana fronds with a snap of the fingers take paper towels and fold them to fit over the beans. Moisten them with a spray bottle. Personally I prefold mine and then hold them under the faucet to soak them and then lay it over my beans. Idk about this 2/3 day stunt. Mung beans like soy sprouts take 5/7 days for a full harvestable tray. Hope this helps.

Bean sprouts are the seedlings of mung beans, also known as green soybeans or soya, and are commonly used in Asian cuisine. The correct term for soybean sprouts is mung bean sprouts Mung bean seeds are small and dark green, while soya bean seeds are creamy yellow and rounder. When immersed in water, mung bean seeds sprout into yellow and white shoots with flat heads and thick stems, while soya bean seeds sprout into soya bean sprouts with larger, rounder heads and skinnier stems. Bean sprouts are low in calories and high in nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and low in fat and cholesterol. They require less cooking time than the original beans and are more nutritious.
