I'd also argue it's got some elements of burning yourself out, which is more applicable in today's society. It's better to go slow and keep pace all the way to the end than to to try and exert all your energy toward a goal only to burn yourself out before you complete it. I guess that applies in marathon running, too. Yes, you want to go fast, but any competent runner will tell you there's a limit. If you try and go top speed the whole race, you won't make it far before you're too tired to keep going at all.
@shxynee

Another way of thinking about it: its also about consistency, I think. "Slow and Steady," doesn't mean go super slow all the time and don't make progress. Its not "Lazy and Steady/Slow and Lazy". I find it means being consistent, intentional, humble. Not many things in life are like a Sprint, where you want to exert as much energy as you can to go as fast as you can in a short amount of time a short distance. More things in life are like a Marathon (or a race, for the story).

To answer Ben: The stat modifying moves are worth it when you're high level. In early fights, it could easily end in just one super effective move or 2... but at level 50+ fights can easily take 5+ turns despite being super effective. Doing 100% damage 5 times (500%) is weaker than doing 150% damage 4 times (600%) (after doing an attack+ move) Also, later trainer fights can have 6 Pokémon to fight in a row. The stat changes persist as long as you don't swap out, so if you boost your attack to double or even triple (Stacking stat boosts), then it's even more valuable.
@weezact7

"I like the cute little starting one" if you're wondering that car is based on the audi sport s1 quattro which was one of the greatest rally cars made in group B rallying back in the 80s. The reason you don't hear about group B nowadays is because it was the fastest and most dangerous motorsport ever created. Some of the cars were so incredibly fast that they could beat the supercars of the 80s but they did it on gravel.

@thesteelrodent1796
@thesteelrodent1796 Жыл бұрын
1980s rally cars were actually quite safe. Fast, yes, and sure they crashed now and then, but that's always been a part of rally. But they had roll cages and the cars were built to take a beating, so injuries were quite rare. More often than not in rally it's the spectators that get hurt because they're way too close to the track considering it's a sport that's driven on public road with no barriers. 1960s Formula 1 was far more dangerous and quite a few drivers died or got critically injured. Those were the days of very few rules and tiny tinfoil cars on basically bicycle tires that went around ovals at speeds approaching 300 km/h. They ran on 120 octane gasoline and could add whatever they wanted to get more power, and in order to save weight there was nothing to protect the fuel tank, so in a crash most of the cars turned into a burning mess. Roll over bars were optional, fire retarding clothes didn't exist - although there were some experiments with asbestos the drivers didn't like because it made the fabric too stiff, seatbelts were optional - and a seatbelt back then was an inflexible leather strap, helmets as we know them didn't exist - at best they wore a leather cap and goggles, and some would even skip the cap. 1967 was the last year of the ovals - they switched to open tracks to slow the cars down to reduce crashes, and then quickly learned that the slower moving cars made for better television.

Red velvet is NOT just chocolate cake with red in it. It is a velvet cake (uses buttermilk) with a milder chocolate taste from the cocoa and the addition of vinegar (which i think is what turned it red?) but its more of a red brown so food dye is added to make it more vibrant. But theres a reason it doesnt taste just like chocolate cake, its milder and has an acidity to it that makes it quite unique!

A quick google search of "anthocyanin" showed that its in the class of flavonoids, which I believe are beneficial to health. Though, I did only read the quick excerpt my search gave me. Edit: Speaking of health, I wish more things used raw cacao over process cocoa. Cocoa is still good (it is sweeter) and healthy, but Cacao has way more health benefits since no processes have taken any nutrients out.

In Pokémon, the move Protect is often used in competitive play. It has risks, but seeing what your opponent could do is a great tactical advantage. For example, if you block a Close Combat, you know they can use Close Combat again. But if you use Protect and they use Swords Dance... Well, that's a bigger Close Combat coming your way.
@TheMirksta
@TheMirksta Жыл бұрын
In singles at least, it's most commonly used with Wish, toxic stalling with sub protect or on a Pokemon with no recovery for an extra leftovers turn. Scouting moves is sometimes useful but most of the time you'd really rather have another move. In casual playthroughs though scouting can be extremely useful because the AI in most games will only click their most powerful move without any prediction, so the move they use on your protect will almost always be used on the next turn

So, fun thing about races... in the 1904 Olympics, the marathon event was won by a guy who was literally hallucinating at the time of his victory. It was so bad that he had to be carried over the finish line by his trainers. A different guy stopped along the way to eat some apples from an orchard, only to find out the apples were rotten, which gave him stomach cramps, causing him to end up collapsed on the side of the road, where he took a nap - and he still finished fourth. A different runner (a historic event, as he was one of the first two black Africans to ever participate in the Olympics - both in this specific race, and both by chance, as they were present for completely different reasons) finished ninth after being chased a mile off course by a pack of wild dogs. Yet another runner, who was initially in the lead, nearly died from all the dust being kicked up on the road; he swallowed enough of it to give him serious internal injuries. And finally... the guy who was first 'crowned' the winner of the race didn't actually run at all. His leg cramped, so he hitched a ride in a car most of the way! So yes, the people who go fast in races do sometimes stop to take naps, etc.

"Very rarely does the person in the lead take a nap under a tree." That may be true, but we've seen MANY instances of Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat in Yogscast GTA. How many times have we seen the person in the lead in one of these races stop to shoot a homing rocket at whoever is behind them, only to get run over and finish last? Also Ben has clearly never watched competitive pokemon. Pure offense works when you're going against Pokemon's AI, but not so much against a human opponent who REALLY knows their pokemon.

4:20 Math time! Pokemon measures mid-battle stat changes in stages, with each stage increasing either the numerator or denominator of the base fraction (2/2) by 1. This means that a move that lowers an opponent's defense or special defense by 2 stages (such as Screech) cuts the number of times you have to hit them in half if used once, while a move that reduces an opponent's attack or special attack by 2 stages doubles the number of hits you can take. Obviously, this also applies to increases to your attack or defense (or specials thereof), respectively. This means that early-game use of moves like Growl and Tail Whip can actually be helpful, since fights are more drawn-out stat contests and less about tactics and strategy. However, type matchups can provide a doubling or quadrupling of either damage or effective HP, meaning that you can gain the same benefit as either 2 or the maximum of 6 stat stages simply from having a good type matchup, without having to spend a turn (and a move slot); the 50% damage increase from the same-type attack bonus applies multiplicatively as well, making for matchups that can be decided by only two or three offensive moves without any stat changes. In more advanced play, base stat arrays become a core consideration, as a not-very-effective move from a high-power attacker against the stat weakness of a target will do more damage than a super-effective move from a low-power attacker with a STAB against the best defensive stat of the target. This is where Pokemon with good defensive stats but poor offensive ones can start filling 'support' roles, soaking up hits while reducing the target's stats for a glass cannon to finish them off. In competitive play, these sorts of combos and advanced tactics are pretty much mandatory, which is part of why the double battle has become more or less the standard format for competitive matches; when two Pokemon from each side are on the field at once, it becomes possible to use incredibly elaborate strategies, including giving an Electric-type holding a balloon Wonder Guard to make them near-invincible. Given that stat reductions are among the least unpredictable debuffs in the game, they actually tend to be favored at those higher levels compared to confusion, infatuation, and other volatile status conditions.

So stat increasing moves in pokemon are very good, depending on the move and how close levels are. If you are close to or under level, because the moves are percentage increases, they are huge swings, especially if they "Raise sharply" because those DOUBLE said stats. But in the main stories of most pokemon games playing normally you are often over level so you two shot almost everything, so stat moves are almost never worth it for that.

With the Rock contract stuff, I wonder how much of that is his own will, and how much is just the agents and whatever demanding that his image be a specific thing.

Tbf status moves are hardly needed if you are just doing the story or completing the dex. Real easy to just overlevel and have perfect type matchups with the default switching mechanic. They really shine in pvp or end game challenges like raids/battle tower/etc

to be fair to Black Adam....he rules a country, i can see him being a 'hero' in his own country (Khandaq) while being a villain out of it.

Red Velvet cake is chocolate cake made with buttermilk. The buttermilk reacts with the cocoa and turns red. That said, at least in the US, a "regular" chocolate cake with red food coloring is often called a Red Velvet cake.

I would have a 10/15 minute nap at lunch after I'd eat. In a noisy, industrial job site (I'm an electrician). Instantly would fall asleep, and felt amazing after it. But, if I'm laying in a bed... forget it. Haha. Takes me hours to sleep. Sitting in a chair? BAM, out. What the hell was I in a previous life?? Haha some kind of terrible nightwatch guard?

As much as i adore Terry, i think i'd have to go with the Rock, he was always my guy back in the wrestlemaniases. .....then again i feel like he might be all motivational and whatnot, which feels like it'd be a lot of work, where you could probably just chill with T.
