Thank you for this video. I'm working through my GDP, looking at Honours next. I know you said the video is a bit rough but I really appreciate the insights - I'm grateful you made it. It's also lovely to see you more assured and confident, it gives me hope that sticking to the long journey of studying psychology can be positive and personally transformative. Please keep making these videos! Good luck with your current placement :)

My thesis is due in less than 2 weeks and I am sick with a flu because I am so stressed because I need to get an 80 to keep at least a h2a 😅 I got a h1 for coursework but this is so stressful, honours is no joke.

This felt like a therapy session, from someone who has gone through the experience recently - aka has the most amount of understanding/empathy, much appreciated! Congratulations on getting to where you are, you're going to be a great psychologist :) The next question I have is, do you have any tips for online Uni students planning to do honours and masters? I'm 29 and have recently moved to a rural town due to my partner's job. I'm in my last year of undergrad at an online university and we are tossing up between moving for honours anywhere across Aus (if I get in) or staying put and doing honours online (I hope it is not too hard to do that way!! I don't want to fail honours or decrease my chances of getting grades for masters)

just started my honours in psych at rmit this year! 6 weeks in...how did you go managing work and study? how do you plan to move forward in terms of work and study? the cost of living is basically my main concern and the fear of realising after all this investment that its not the right path for me!

How exciting, congrats Hannah :) I did honours FT and also am doing Masters FT and have worked 15-25 hours consistently throughout. Someone asked similar questions so I might reiterate what I said there. During honours was able to maintain a large amount of work, FT study and still do well because: 1) I had a study that recruited participants online (set up due to covid) which meant that I could do uni work anywhere and I did not have to commute as much/ trade my time when helping participants 2) Being in lockdown meant that I didn't socialise and didn't feel fomo so I could spend that time working. 3) At my retail job, it was just click and collect's which meant I could do uni work and also conserve my energy with minimal customer interactions. 4) I lived at home which meant that during honours which meant that i could afford to take a month off work during thesis submission time as I didn't have a landlord asking for money. 5) I am an introvert so being alone for 2 years straight did not phase me and my mental health did not suffer as much during the lockdown. So don't hold my number to a standard or put pressure on yourself, because I had a lot of things in my corner during honours. Now in master's, I still have averaged around 20-25 hours a week and this was achievable because of the flexibility of my job. For the first 6 months, I worked retail on the weekends and did uni work 9-5 and this really affected my mood for the worse (evidently through my videos). I got a uni job mid-year which forced me to fit in my work during the week and then I had my weekends free to relax. Yes, this meant that my weekdays were super long as I had to squish everything in but it was worth it! I am going to do a video on managing money for psych students by then end of next week because this seems to be very popular. Let me know if you have any specific questions :)

@@yash9801 hi! Thanks so much for taking the time to give such an in depth reply. That's really helpful to know. Am defintely trying to take all the advice I can get. I also am living with my husband and working 15 to 20hrs a week. So defintely have some things in my corner as well. I defintely do worry however about what masters might look like although that is of course, so dependent on this year! Have you ever second guessed your "career" path?
