Thanks for mentioning the hammer release. Due to recent surgery I cannot move my torso as well as I used to so I'm experimenting with a stronger grip and more hand and wrist action with a hammer release. It's easier on my body and has been working on the range.

Omg Christo I am so glad you mentioned the names Montey Scheinblum and Mike Malaska. Those are some of the other guys I watch who just make the swing and the game much simpler to understand and they put it all together in such a great way. I now know that I’m watching the right people and learning the right information now that you said something.

Wow! I never thought of it that way! When I was young and stupid I would try to square up the clubface to the arc of the plane right off the top -- turns out that was the right thing to do! But, also, some old guy told me to get the right elbow in and tucked early in the downswing too. I note that Duval definitely has tucked his right elbow before he begins his big turn through the last half of his downswing. So both things I think.

Hell with the right side, that left hip clearing is amazing. I followed him around Spyglass years ago. We stood on the tee right in front of him on 13, he hit driver back up the hill and into a chill morning wind over 260 all carry, and it looked effortless.

David Duval is using a wristy motion of his right hand bending backwards and forward in order to whip the club from start to finish of his down swing. He maintain his golf posture until the finish of his downswing when the momentum of the club stands him up at the finish of his swing. « This is not casting the club » he says in his video and believe me it works. Another words he « grip it then whip it from the very start of his down swing to the finish of his swing

And what I can't mention... you'll find if you study Austin's kinetic principles,and Mike Dunaway's reiterations of Austin- ology. It's in there. Long time work and study to find Hogan's secret... perhaps. But it's freaking amazing.

You're missing what makes that pivot and everything else work. You nailed the wrist, however DD and Mike Austin both go around the bottom shoulder, and let the body put the club on plane in the backswing, and when they fire through the ball, the legs and everything else are in a naturally power position, so other than shifting weight at the appropriate time for the club, they don't have to do a whole lot. You feel the load up in your hands and in your hamstrings/feet, with a pretty stable base, and you "throw" the club left, feeling like the right palm is slapping your left hip bone. I have this same swing concept, and when I was young, I always felt like it was "inside to inside", but in reality it's more nuanced. Duval was fantastically fluid because he had very few moving parts, there wasn't an "if this than that" kind of thing going on, like you see in many modern swings. It was simple, and with the strong grip he basically used his arm position at setup to dictate whether he wanted to fade or draw, and could hit a dead straight shot better than just about anyone, and more consistently than anyone else on tour then or now.
@thomasfraser9072

Hi Christo I believe you are having us focus on the wrong body part. I think the rear knee of Duval swing is a reaction to his downswing not a deliberate action of his downswing. Watch instead the deliberate screwing motion of his lead thigh turning inward on his backswing and then the quick unscrewing motion of his lead thigh turning counterclockwise outward is the key to his great swing. I now know that my lead thigh lateral muscles are essential to a great swing every singe time. Cheers

@@MiracleSwingExperience And why I think so many golfers struggle to clear the left hip fast and deep enough. They are right leg dominant and haven't learned to activate the left thigh muscles in a way that drives the left hip back. I'm LH, play RH, and right leg dominant. I hit a baseball solid LH (right leg clearing), but my left leg is dumb, and I have to do specific work on getting it to clear the hip correctly.

At 3:30 when he's talking about "casting" and rotating so much it's because he had a really strong grip.
@jteddy11
@jteddy11 Жыл бұрын
Chriso, do not forget about this move, the reason Duval does not go to a higher plane is because his backswing plane is very very high. Add this Duval "feel" to your lower inside takeaway to a higher downsing, Over the Top Miracle Swing. There is another secret in there.
@jacobr4558

So not to be negative on this idea but do you think his bad back was because of this swing or how else do you think he developed a bad back? Honestly it could be because he hit too many balls or something like that or you over exerted this turn but I always think of him as a perfect hyperbole of swinging over the top but at the same time if that's what damaged his back then it's probably less than ideal. I'm kind of curious on the details of that. I guess we'd have to ask him

And that is what Mike Austin said. It's not casting if you're turning. It's starting your release from the top. Jack did it. And it's a fusion, a building of power with gradual increase of power through impact. Turning into the ball and throwing out and away. There is another element. But I can't discuss it unfortunately!😟😊😏

Not sure I agree with his assessment. He saying that you have to nor to be consistent. But I would argue that just and Thomas is definitely under so is Rory so is Xander so are many other players that are very high level players that are super consistent. So maybe that works for him that it's more consistent but it's not the optimal or the superior way when the top 10 in the money are definitely a different way of doing it.

Duval has to have huge lower body turn or he will hook the ball with his grip. If you copy his swing and use a more neutral grip, you don't have to turn the lower body so aggressively. I use this swing right now and it works great for my 57 year old body with about half the leg and hip turn speed that Duval has.

I think saying he's one of the best of all time is a huge stretch but he definitely could've been and was on that path. It's sad what happened to him after the injuries and body transformation. I think he coulda been a legit rival to Tiger if things went differently.

He isn't anywhere near the best golfers ever as far as careers are concerned, but if you take an 18 month snapshot of any golfer ever, Duval is up there. Even by that metric, someone like Spieth and many others would probably be ranked higher, but Duval is probably top 20.

Hogan fairway finder. He does that with his hand and left arm stays on chest. It’s why his head turns he has to turn everything to keep his left arm their and push the club head on top of the arc. In my opinion LOL

Duval's rear leg and knee have nothing to do with his swing. How can a body part that is essentially floating have any active part in the swing. The body part you should be looking at is the front or left leg. That's the one that's doing all the work. He's jamming the front leg just like a throwing a javelin. If you don't jam the front there's nothing to leverage the swing against. I made a video about this called, "Why pushing off the back foot is the worst idea in golf."

I have always wondered when he made the change to "bulk up" he then lost his incredible flexibility, which is a key to his swing. Plus not sure at the time he had the same trainers/knowledge as Tiger and currently Bryson who could help with their new body image and match to golf swing. What supplements could he been taken to lose his mental confidence?
