Blazing Mirror Force burns better and destroys your opponents monsters. You both take life points damage which is why you use it with Ceasefire and Just Desserts. Playing traptrick also helps. If you have 5 set traps your opponent is going to have trouble taking care of them all. Especially in a FTK it's difficult to defend five burn cards.

Not if I use Monster Reborn as an Instant Spell riiiiight?
@pickyphysicsstudent2016 жыл бұрын
First you have to hide your magician girl under some magical hats and then place the trap cards underneath them, like Xyz materials, when Slifer attacks you can activate the effect of magic cylinder to redirect the attack back to your opponent's Slifer (assuming they don't have Revival Jam). Though be warned for if this doesn't work they can draw some more cards and then attack your Magician Girl again in the same battlephase. If this does happen, then just brain control their Revival Jam to get them stuck in a continuous loop and keep drawing cards, though because cards of their Card of Safe Return, though because that card is banned, you'll just enter an infinite loop and with no way out, you two will have to play until time-out. So instead just use that BS Trickstar Reincarnation, Protector of the Shrine combo. To weaken Slifer's attack to zero then attack. Remember Monster Reborn is a quickplay so you can resolve the chain like that. Then send them to the Shaddoll Realm because Shaddoll construct is banned. Be sure to snort Cocaine in the correct columns of the board to resolve these effects accurately because your Co-linked monsters that are Colinked with Cocaine can then bounce your opponent to the moon, allowing you to win instantly, in what is still quite tame for card effects, compared most of what Konami has released.

Solemn Strike can negate a summon or effect when it can be critical for an opponent's key play (like a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Link material), thus disrupting an entire play. Magic Cylinder only negates an attack if the attacking monster can be targeted - and it is common now that an attacking monster cannot be targeted, for example, if a "Melodious" monster attacks while having a SS Aria on play.

I love the implication that the ONLY reason Dzeeff hasn't commented on the fact that one single person in the OCG did well with a deck with 3 Magic Cylinders in it 4 years after his original find has to be because he's embarrassed and is hoping that this humiliating disproval of his point quietly fades away. And it certainly isn't because A. He's already explained multiple times why one single deck running the card in question doesn't suddenly make the card meta B. He's shyed away from making further "why nobody plays" videos and has made it clear he's not interested in doing any more as he found them antagonizing to casual players and is quite sick of engaging them in debates C. His videos are often flooded with people making completely wrong assertions, and only has so many hours in the day to answer them. Just hilarious.

So. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m super casual about Yu-Gi-Oh. I live in the middle of nowhere, there’s about three people out here who play. So we don’t do much and we don’t train much. I run exactly one Magic Cylinder. In exactly one of my decks. My friend runs a really nice Blue Eyes/Red Eyes special summon deck. I have beaten him enough with my one Magic Cylinder that all I have to do is put a facedown turn one and he hesitates to attack. He has very little spell/trap clear. So the pure existence of my Cylinder and other such counter traps in my deck has won me duels against him. I’ve got some mirror force cards as well. It’s kind of fun to play against people who aren’t as good at understanding cost and benefit of some attacks... they cower at the though of a Cylinder. Granted, yes. It’s not a very good competitive card. But in casual play, at least, it’s a really fun time pulling a single Cylinder and watching a casual opponent cower for fear of another one. xD

Causals don't understand the difference between winning all the games and winning some games? I would say that is the total opposite. The more "hard core" players seem only care about winning all the games, and don't seem to understand that losing is a part of the game as well. This is the reason I left playing most TCG's. The meta game gets so toxic and people wouldn't just have fun. Maybe that makes me a "causal" player, but at least I understand that losing can be fun and still enjoy the game.
@OnEiNsAnEmOtHeRfUcKa6 жыл бұрын
Exactly this. While there's always fun to be had in optimizing strategies and general competition, the vast majority of people take it waaay too far and forget how to have fun completely. People need to learn how to let loose and have a bit of dumb fun sometimes.

Imagine that someone discovers the perfect 40 card deck that wins you like 90% of the duels, and you have like 20 days until a new ban list is made. Would you throw out your hard earned deck for this deck? This is were casuals and meta players are made. I'm a proud casual. Blue eyes, red eyes or dark magician could win you most of the games, but you'll never see one of them in my deck, just because I don't like them.

hardcore gamers don't even use traps except the solemns so why even bother making a video about trap cards?
@Hationor6 жыл бұрын
I believe the term you are looking for is "tryhards". Because as we all know a casual just plays for fun, don't care about wins or loses, and generally just know the basics (in most cases). A hardcore player is a player who plays for long periods of time (for the most part), takes both wins and loses as learning points, and generally know more than just the basics. Tryhards are the cancerous/toxic people in the group. They are typically also the ones who always have some form of excuse of why they lost (aka the sore losers), only care about the wins. Along with other things I could be here typing away for hours giving examples so tldr anything you would considered cancerous/toxic will more times than not describe a tryhard. PS: Tryhards always play competitive, so keep in mind all tryhards are competitive players, but NOT all competitive players are tryhards.

I have this deck in which I have like 3 copies of the full Destiny Board set (the trap card + the four letters is what I mean by a set and every single monster,spell or trap is to make the opponent lose card effects that can ruin my strategy like twin twisters, Breaker the Magical Warrior ,Mirror Force ,Swords of Revealing Lights. Just cards that can keep up with my strategy and ruin my opponents chance of breaking it. Is that a good deck or should I add or remove something? Thought to ask you since u seem to know a lot about this kind of topic. Plz respond 😀

I would like to get into competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! but I am a pretty casual player, and do not have the slightest clue what the meta currently looks like. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can get my foot in the door, or good decks to start out with?

Cylinder used to go through cycles in early YuGiOh. Nobody would play it, so nobody would expect it, so it was good, so everyone would start playing it. Then everybody would play it, so everybody would expect it, so it was bad, so everyone stopped playing it. Repeat ad infinitum until it because irrelevant due to incessant power creep.

@b Card advantage doesnt mean you win. Its an advantage, but its not the only advantage that goes in the game. There's plenty of decks that run on having less cards. I play Magic the Gathering, and it takes more skill to play that than it does YuGiOh. It seems like only the MTG community is obsessed with Card Advantage. Yea had a game back in middle school go like this. (10 years ago) Turn 1, I played Luster Dragon #2 and set Magic Cylinder. Turn 1, My opponent played Cyber-Stein, sacrificed 5000LP to play Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon in Attack then declared an attack with it. Pretty much the fastest game that ever ended for me.

To be fair, I think we should also remember that in the anime, people in general can easily get the cards they want AND there is only 4000 life points. I think with those 2 factors, many cards could easily be more viable or unviable in the anime but different in the TCG. In the anime, cards that can take out 2000 of your life points might suck, while in real life, a trap that makes your opponent lose 2000 life points might suck.

This reminds me of the time I duelled my friend’s dark magician deck with my ancient gear deck. For those who don’t know, ancient gears tend to have a quite humorous effect where the opponent can’t activate spells or traps while they’re attacking. He had already used all three of his thousand knives destroying my reactor dragon that I kept reviving, and he had no monsters that could defeat my golem. It was a long duel of whistling his LP down 500 at a time, and I still lost because I attacked his kaiser glider and golem doesn’t negate monster effects.

Magic cylinder is amazing it stops lethal damage its protection for a key creature needed for combo or to sacrifice summon
@fitzhugh74633 жыл бұрын
Battle traps are notorious back row removal fodder though. You are way better off stopping your opponent’s combo before the game state gets to the point where he has those big monsters on the field. More often than not the magic cylinder will get destroyed by one of many spot removal effects the opponent gets off

I once played with some weirdo with a strange deck which involves around trap cards to counter my attacks. I attacked him with a super soldier soul with 3000 atk boosts by its effect and he flips out his first MC. I thought oh well that sucks, he probably wouldn't have another one so I'll finish him next turn. His next turn he just set another card and my turn comes the card I drew was the 3rd beginning knight, with no ritual spells it's utterly useless. I though about passing turn but instead I decided to do something more fun. I summoned the knight (who has 500 atk btw) and attacked him directly with it, he then flips up his 2nd MC to negate my attack. Yes, he used magic cylinder on a 500 ATK FRICKIN MONSTER. I lol'd thinking wth is this dude doing, I then attack with super soldier soul, who had 0 ATK with no boosts. And you know what? HE FLIPPED UP HIS 3RD MAGIC CYLINDER TO NEGATE MY ATTACK. Yeah that game was fun.

Unfortunately it's a low key good card, like don't get me wrong unless your monsters are also doing anything it's only for protection on 1 attack. But for some players it can throw them off or even spook them a bit. If you can't get rid of back row it can be a hidden hurdle you didn't even think people still played

@stephenclarkin45786 жыл бұрын
Fact of the matter is most decks run back row removal in some form. You'd also be wasting deck space on cards that actually help more then just negating an attack such as strike or a floodgate. Stopping your opponent making a solid board is way more advantageous than dealing some damage
@Swolelax6 жыл бұрын
I agree but lets not forget that inside of that they are using their resources and abilities to remove cards. Potentially leading to wasted resources. Now I do think running solemns or mirror forces are just better, but it's not like those can't also be removed just as easily.

How i keep on winning is (Not because of these cards i just listed, including Pot Of Greed) i won because of my 1 copy of Marshmallon and my 1 copy of Aroma Jar. If you think i have a deck about Drawing cards and LPs gaining while also protecting my own LPs, then your absolutely correct. Not to change the subject but, do you think Pot Of Greed should be banned still, Limited, Simi-Limited, or Unlimited?

I understand card advantage and all, but in my meta, in my school, I was often attacked by 3000+ ATK monsters, so having a 6000 life swing using the Cylinder was quite common. Maybe in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh, you summon multiple medium monsters instead of a single giant one?
@charlescannon97105 жыл бұрын
From what i've seen the competitive has more of a focus on effects not raw damage. Things like single monster high attack, going for big attacks with a backrow in play tend to be problematic. I think my deck(awhile back mind you) had something like 1500-2000 as strongest monster. But it destroyed cards or something. I played a few games with huge attack monsters tributing, trying to keep my hp up with spell cards but, all the countering caused me to go more for effect based game not a damage game.
@guillermocalle21844 жыл бұрын
Ancient Comment reply but no. it varies. However, whenever a meta deck brings out big monsters, they tend to bring out multiple big guys with effects that can either negate cards, or pop backrow. So your magic cylinder will not be making it to the battle phase often. Crusadia Gardragons before could spit out multiple giant monsters with attack of 2500-4700 and multiple negates that go live on summon. Then there were thunder dragons, who had ways to dispose of backrow if needed. Meta decks prefer ways of not letting your opponent even get to the point they built a field that big. Counter traps like Strike/judgment and effect negations like Infinite Imperm can assist in forcing the opponent to settle on a weaker board. As the video explained, all your tube of mirrors did was stop 1 attack, do a bit o damage. But it's still there to kick your ass later, and probably just kicked in the glass before continuing it's yolo charge.

I used to run it for a long time because I couldn’t keep monsters on my field and my friend would burn me with 3,000 with his blue eyes all the time. So I kept it in my deck and it would do 3,000 damage to him every time. But I realized that having that card meant I was always anticipating an attack, and while it’s not bad to be prepared for attacks..it’s far more productive to try to negate your opponents card activations while moving forward with your own attacks. I turned my trap cards from defense cards to counter cards. The faster I can clear his field, the faster I can attack. Magic Cylinder is no longer in my deck but it was a good card and definitely a staple for the OG anime.
