Several years ago I made a lot of changes to my lifestyle. One of those things was cutting out processed sugar, white bread, soda, sweet coffee drinks etc (for the majority of the time, I will still have a treat if I want to). I did not give up fruit. Blueberries and blackberries are my sweets now. Love them. I did that for my overall health, but it was fascinating to learn it helps my skin too.

@LongJourneys
@LongJourneys 6 ай бұрын
@SuperBranFlakez sugar in an orange is fructose. Table sugar is sucrose, which is fructose + glucose. Many processed foods simply have extreme high concentrations of these simple sugars, where the concentration isn't nearly as high in fruits and vegetables. The sugars are the same in both but fruits and vegetables have healthy levels where things like soda do not.

Great video, the more people know about AGEs the better! I agree with everything, but some fruits do need to be limited in consumption. Dried fruits in particular, like dates and dried berries, contain high amounts of fructose. They’re also very high glycemic index foods and are often sold with added sugar on top of the high natural sugars. These fruit are as bad eating a cake.

What a Happy News video ! I love whole fruit & tire of being told how bad it is for me. If I blend up a peeled lemon , I often add in a peeled orange to help sweeten it, but then get a guilt trip too c/o the Keto diet gurus !! The only worry with fruit is the acid on your teeth afterwards. Rinse off with water & get saliva flowing to neutralise ph eg chew a gum or take a little cheese or milk which are alkaline

Moderation is better than denying yourself all treats! If you totally deprive yourself, eventually you will feel cheated, and then it tempts you to binge. I used protien supplement bars and drinks to lose 20 pounds last year. They have a little sugar and/or sugar substitute. They satisfy my craving for a LITTLE sugar, and help me maintain my weight at the optimal BMI. I'm 72 yo 5'3" and 120lbs. I avoid fats except olive oil. I eat very little carbs. And, most important, I watch portion size!

I read that most meats is high in AGEs. Figs are too 😢 I try not to fixate on these details too much and just keep the bigger picture in mind, but I do wonder just how much AGEs contribute to aging

Dr. Dray, I don't know where else to message, but I have a request to review or go over the difference from urban skin rx hypercorrect to cyspra and the few others that have Cysteamine. Like why are a few so expensive and some aren't and do they work the same, have the same ingredients to do the same thing? I saw your one video about Cysteamine but trying to get a comparison on the different brands that have that. Thank you. Love watching you and you are the best!

I on the other hand do everything that needs to be done, neither smoke nor drink, neither i have a sweet tooth and use sun-screen daily. I still feel there skin is doing better than mine. why is that so?

Maybe they just live very carefree lives and don’t stress but for someone who is uptight and is looking for stability and security that stress may age the skin quicker than their lifestyle choices I’m guessing and alcohol can have lots of antioxidants that protect the skin

I bought a sugar alternative today. It's called stevia. It is way sweeter than sugar and you only need it 1 g of it to sweeten a whole drink. Btw it comes from a plant and it's pretty safe for most people. I suggest doing your own research before trying it tho.

@@ButterflySUB none at all. I wore a CGM for a month and it does not spike your glucose. I carry the packets everywhere I go. Europe still has a lot of the unhealthy sweeteners in coffee shops. I think the EU banned stevia at one time so it’s not very common here. My favorite brand is Sweet Leaf.

@@sandrar6670 I live in Germany and there are small pills of stevia available. I bought it from my local dm. And it's very cheap 100 pills were less than 2 euros. And each pill is equal to one table spoon sugar.

I agree, that processed sugar is the enemy. Rebel brand ice cream and Lily's chocolate are sweetened with stevia and erythritol NOT processed sugar.
