Hi. I have been training for 30 years. I have used a wooden man for 17 years. I really appreciate the clarity and effectiveness of your instructional videos. Thank you.

Another fine example to practical applications of Wing Chun. I like your teaching style as well, you see so many different variations to Wing Chun on KZbin. You can tell when you see quality Wing Chun being demonstrated, it just flows well. I have 2 daughters (8 & 5), as well as my wife and myself ...I know she'll be interested. Great way to stay fit, as well as self-defense !

I’ve been watching videos and trying to learn the basics of Wing-Chun for the past 6 months. Your videos are by far the best I’ve seen. Everything is slowed down and described in great detail. I would much rather be a student of yours and start from the beginning. Learning the philosophy as well as the mechanics. Living in the NE of the US there aren’t a whole lot of options. I want to be taught properly.

One of the VERY FEW channels on KZbin that offers real, legitimate and insightful information about Wing Chun (and other similar systems, or just useful info for any system, provided someone understands the material). I truly hope people get the concepts and appreciate what you're offering, especially to the world at no charge. Over the years, I have attempted to explain the same concepts and controlling energy, etc., but you have a very good way of doing this; to the point, but not missing the relevant information. Either good video pre-production or just the fact you've explained it a million times and know exactly what to say and how to say it. Your students and subscribers are very lucky. I understand a lot of the material and I still feel lucky to have this exposure to your ideas and patterns as you explain your application. I'd love to train with you, but I'd love to have you out to California for a few days or more one day for a seminar, too. This is the sort of stuff that serious people can get excited about. So, thanks!

Enter Tai Chi , tgreer0120 Sifu Phu is not only a phenomenal teacher, but also a very down to earth human being. He has no arrogance, no stupid Sifu worship that most WingChun and other Sifu's indulge in, and he is genuinely interested in each of his students personally, so he can tune his teaching to their personality. And if you meet him, you can feel his energy, its absolutely unique.

As a former Student of Sifu Phu, Just wanted to say he is not rehearsing these video's, this is the exact lesson you would get if you were with him in person, minus the refining as he is watching you do the form. As you said he has explained it a million times and knows exactly what to say and how to say it. If you watch some of the live Q and A videos, you can see he is exactly the same on the fly. Wish I could find time to get back for more in person training.

I have seen a lot of Sifus and almost all of them has a really tough looking face but his face is all innocent and soft but then when you look at his techniques and understanding then you realize he is on a whole different level even though these are basic techniques, he is really tough on the inside. Now I am not insulting or offending him but if it seems like it I am really sorry it was never my intention. I really like your works

I believe that self defense martial arts should be taught in grade schools discipline respect and self-worth will be helpful to all those who apply themselves to the practice helping them to become wise and rational members of society If this was offered when I was in school I would have taken it up and maybe my choices would have been different and not allowing myself to be influenced by others but deciding what's best for me and seeking my own path in this life we call a labyrinth

So, when you are gripping arm, you move it sideways, but not back, am I correct? A sifu I observed was using grabs and pulling back without using torque (no hip, just arm, keeping elbow tucked). You teach not to use backward energy, only forward energy. What should we do about pulling back with a grab? Is there ever a situation where it is a useful way? Thank you very much, sifu!
@phungo9334
@phungo9334 10 жыл бұрын
You are allowed to yield backwards but never go backwards. The idea is to always apply forward pressure even when yielding backwards. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Phu Ngo Am I to understand that during a pak sau/lop sau arm pull you shouldn't pull them backwards with torso rotation? It was my perception that you should pull them back while moving forward yourself. Do you feel this is incorrect?
@sjkungfu
@sjkungfu 10 жыл бұрын
orangeiceice12 when you are initiating a grab you can do that or pull with a downward arc, but when your playing off of someone's aggression, then you can yield backwards while keeping pressure into the wrist, not pull backwards into the elbow.
