I just picked this ship up a few days ago. The first time I seen it I was not really interested, but I decided to give it a chance (since I had a coupon) and I'm glad I did. Like Sea Lord said you don't see them much so I like that, and while her armor isn't Vladivostok's it is good enough to hold her own when bow tanking, but the real selling point for me was the guns, 31 second reload vs the standard 33 second of other Russian BB's and unlike other Russian BB's it actually has pretty good dispersion. Forget that you even have secondaries and if you get a secondary kill go and buy a lottery ticket. Speed is okay but she handles like the Titanic when turning. AA, you have some but you're certainly not a no fly zone. The Radar is a nice bonus too, but she needs to be a team player to excel with it, her radar has great range but you will only get one salvo off once it is deployed. I would not say this ship is OP, but she is quite fun in the right circumstances.

Borodino is the typical ship that is horrible in carrying games but will do magically when you have a team that actually supports you (good accuracy but terrible dpm means you need long lasting battles in it and when you get flanked good luck with cruiser like citadel and since it has overall bad armor with a tier 10 1060m turning circle any kind of focusing fire and you are dead meat) I do really well in it but its a one trick pony long range sniper that has to be carried by the team.

its pretty damn good in its tier. Uptiers makes it suffer a lot, but it does decent when it has islands to retreat behind

Got it for Christmas and today i had a game with it. I like the guns, playing from like 13-14 km has decent dispersion and nose in is taking low damage. Radar is cool but short, i put it for a good use to check for dds on my flags since its very long a juicy target for a broadside torps. I like it has the normal repair party since when being shot from long distance i get a single fire which can extinguish multiple times, so no need for the usual fast repair. Tonight I will test it more. I have a Lenin as well and they are very different BBs in my opinion. Thank you for the video! :)

I really mean radar. I get information for the ship itself, not the torps launched. Most of the dds have 12 or less torp range, so you can reliably check if there is a dds, if there is such, most probably there arw torps coming your way. It's good for getting info for enemy ships in general - being dds, ships behind islands or during cyclone.

Borodino doesn't have terrible vertical dispersion. It's the exact same box standard battlecruiser dispersion formula, including vertical dispersion, that Thunderer, Georgia, Alaska, Repulse, etc. have. We can even see it in game, those shells do not deviate up and down like for example on Amagi. Don't judge dispersion by feel when there is actual hard data available.

Hey SeaLord, I’m a relatively new player to Wows. I’ve follows your advice, and I’ve just finished grinding the USN BB line, I’ve almost got the Yamato and I want to start grinding the British BB line. Do you have any tips on how to grind that line? Keep up the great vids, I love your content!

I am not Sea Lord Mountbatten but my general advice on British bb’s are spam HE in max range. The Ap of the British bbs is good if the enemy goes broadside. A tip is you go stern in and spam HE on battleships, but if you see a DD within a 15km range shoot it, helps your destroyers greatly. The last tip is to keep an eye on enemy ships that uses their DCP because the HE of British bbs has a good fire chance and you can farm damage numbers. British bbs are not that impactful in the game because your fire damage is fully healable.

Use HE, British have the best BB HE. They also have short fuse AP, not too effective against other BBs, but when you see a broadside cruiser, you'll chunk them. Armor is good enough, until you show ur side, then you'll be deleted. Good accuracy at range too. Tldr, sit back, shoot HE at the world, AP on broadside cruisers, don't show ur broadside. Monarch is meh, Lion is the best IMO.

The monarch is very underwhelming but before & beyond that I would call them overpowered. I average ≈90k in the KGV & over 100k in the lion & conqueror. My best advice would be don’t sleep on the AP if given broadside. A lot of people assume you’ll only spam HE and will willingly show you broadside but conqueror AP is no slouch, especially with 12 guns. She is also very tanky if angled right and you have time to get those super heals off, meaning you can actually push if that’s what the team needs at that moment. My highest potential damage in the game came in the conqueror at ≈6 mil

One thing you didn't mention is that the bow on this thing is so long that most of the time, if she can pen around your icebreaker, Yamato/Musashi and Shikishima cannot citadel you. They can get full pens, but none of them have enough pen to reach the citadel before the shell blows

The only problem is how badly this thing get brutally uptiered. Like so many Tier VIII Premiums, they're great at their tier and owned when they're bottom tier.

6 guns only , that joke seems a bit old .. well at least this BB had all 6 ( heavy hitting ) guns forward in super firing position, the ship do not need to turn to uncover the whole barrage of 6 guns as the other 6 guns BB are , or even many of the 6 guns cruisers

I play all the Russian BB line from T7 and up. Tech line and premium. My favorite by far is my Lenin. However… the Vladivostok is way under rated. The guns are single pixel accurate and has stronk Stalinium armor.

I received the Borodino from a Santa crate. It is a mediocre ship. One can get detection down to 13.7. Not sure that helps much. It has the armor of a super cruiser or BC but lack the MB range and speed. WOWS should down grade this to a tier VII as a early super cruiser. Add torps and it is a pocket battleship designed to hunt the Graf Spee and Dunkerque class ships.

Great reasons Borodino is overlooked / underutilized: 1. Yet another Russian paper ship... most people outside Russia just aren't into Russian ships that aren't T10. 2. 6 guns with 31 second reload and no highlighted special gimmick with them like Champaign... which also didn't sell well. 3. No Little White Mouse Review... in fact this ship came out right about the time LWM was exiting so... yeah... big oof. 4. 25mm plating at T8, plenty of players discount such ships especially without a super gimmick. 5. USS Constellation released at nearly the same time with radar.

Borodinos were produced in larger numbers, but they were never going to be as popular as the Andromeda class. Renaming them as Dreadnaughts for the 2202 reboot did not seem to help.

Borodino was for free if you grinded the test server. But Lenin is much better. The armor just isn't good enough

With more battlecruiser lines potentially coming into the game in 2022, Borodino fits into playstyle of a battlecruiser. She can be a bit op in the right situations but all depends on team play. In terms of a better BB, Lennin is still the better ship.

Wargaming is just afraid of battleships with all guns monted in the front like Dunkerque, Richelieu or this one. Resulf of this emotion is to make then not resilient to balance this feature you do not need to show broadside to use all your guns). But ... they balance it too much and playing this ships (at least for me - i played french ones) is just like playing battleship with no armor. Comical. at least it is my experience. Someone with 65% win rate may say that he loves Richelieu. I am ok with it. I am saying as average wows player, not as good one.

Haha, no. It deals little damage. Too little guns, too long reload, questionable accuracy. There is more he doesnt even mention in the video: the ridiculous penetration is actually too good to be beneficial: even if you hit anything with your few guns, you will pretty much always overpen every cruiser. Yes, the guns occasionally work (like every shitty ships guns), but thats just too rare. Yes, the ship is kinda interesting, but its bad firepower just doesnt work with such pitiful armor. I cant buff its bow armor, it would instantly be OP on T8, you cant give it good accuracy with such great long range pen. Personally I think it would indeed need a small reload buff, not too much, to be somehow competitive. Best thing about it for me is its looks.

@@garf0001 Thank you for that. I have watched a similar gameplay with Toptier way back a few months upon its release and i haven't watched SLM's gameplay properly due to connectivity issues. So i had an idea of the ship. When Toptier is playing this, he is quite angled to the enemy but get struck closer to the "cheek" so he was citadelled that time.

Think most old timers that spent lots and lots of money on the game have been more or less fed up with wargaming and their bullshit and have started being more reluctant to spend much money on the game anymore. Seen the ship, it seems great. But wanted to see more of a change in wargaming before I forgave them. 😂😂😂

Soviet ships just aren't that fun. I have only seen a Bordino division once when it's been used by ST in main server (ASIA) and that's about it. It just doesn't have any appeal when it's literally a JB without reload booster. Comparing with Lenin is really not worth getting if you already have it. Bordino less tankier than Lenin at the expense of radar Lenin - 16.9km; 1.7 sigma ok dispersion 9 shells 27secs reload. Bordino - 16.9km; 2.0 sigma bad dispersion 6 shells 31 secs reload

Saying the Borodino might be "potentially OP" now out of the blue, despite literally every single review video available across the entire internet on this ship all being negative nearly without exception. You yourself even say "you don't see this ship often now at all in game"... Yea because she sucks lmfao... Hell, even Potato Quality who's a super unicum BB main from the o7 clan couldn't make this ship work for him or even perform well with any kind of consistency. PQ's 2nd channel here on KZbin which has his Twitch replays and longer form content has a Twitch replay of him playing nothing but Borodino for upwards of 2 hrs or so straight on the day of Borodino's release, and after showcasing the thing for 2 damn hrs straight his final thoughts were literally that the Borodino was without question in his mind the worst tier VIII BB in the entire game and to def. NOT spend any money on the thing.... So yea, as far as whatever you're saying here abt Borodino supposedly being "potentially OP".... I think you're the only person who's ever thought/said such a thing abt this ship so far hahah.

It's not a good ship it's bad at everything my tir 9 al sov. Rossiya is way better and the shell speed is so fast that even at max range it gives people no time to move it's like a slava but with good armor and guns (the speed of the shells are 830m/s so stupid fast for a BB and a range of 22.5km)

Um...yeah...this is far from the worst tier VIII BB and I would have no problem destroying a North Carolina with it. Pretty sure I could come out on top most of the time against an Amagi too. Bismarck would be a tougher ship to beat with it because of its armor and secondaries. The worst tier VIII BB is by far the Monarch.

Yup it has one of the largest bow section of any ship and it has 25mm armor same with the stern. And with a tier 10 1060m turning radius you gonna get caught turning a lot.

in my opinion W8 with buyin this ship its not popular so WG will buff it or put new ship that will be better or fun (i dont own the ship i did test it on mate acount) . You dont see this ship for a reason cuz its bad ship no dpm ,guns are average, AA doesnt work vs new sovet cvs ,radar is meh, dont bait ppl into buyin bad ship mate wth and wow u dont need t9 guns to fight t6 even some t6 overmatch t6 and u sure showed those nurnbergs whos the boss. And dont tell pll its good ship cuz u had one or two above average games ..........
