You have your 992 Turbo S.... forget the Sapphire and get yourself a 2nd Gen Taycan Turbo GT, it currently holds 2 records around the Nurburgring, one for EV Production, one for Any Sedan of Any Propulsion System, it's literally only 2 seconds off the Rimac Nivera time, it's stupid capable. One you definitely have to get in to review now that you're reviewing cars MKB 👌 (it's like twice as good at everything as the "current"/last gen Taycans, the whole new generation itself, not just the Turbo GT model)

@@TIGFAD I forget where I seen it, but I could've sworn one of the early reviews of the GT somewhere had stated legit 0-60 times (without the BS "1 foot rollout" which can detract as much as 2/10ths). It wasn't built to be fast in a straight line though, but with 1020hp during launch and over boost, 0-62mph (no 1ft roll, and Porsche always beat their listed times by a lot) of 2.2/2.3 and a top limited speed of 180mph, it's going to be brutally fast..... remember, Porsche is the only one's using a 2spd trans at the rear for launch and top speed. I'm the furthest person from an EV guy, I absolutely don't like them....but I would kill for a Taycan GTS Sport Turismo or a new Turbo S Cross Turismo or Turbo GT Sedan (don't believe they're making wagon versions of the GT sadly lol), those things are utterly ridiculous.
@johnnygeorgopoulos40729 ай бұрын
@@stmcdowell77 that's the Turbo GT with Weissach Package (removed rear seats, carbon rear "shelf" and carbon cage), the "normal" Turbo GT is available in the States.... it's just like you can buy a GT3 or GT3 RS here, but you won't get the cage everyone else gets, and I only assume because it's marketed as a sedan, they can't import it into the States without getting hit with a large fine per car with it (the Weissach Package one) physically not having, nor even able to have back seats whatsoever, along with the cage..... the "regular" Taycan Turbo GT is literally just as fast as the Weissach, except it weighs a couple hundred pounds more, but they're listing the 0-60 of each within a tenth (2.2 to 2.3, which both are a lie as they'll both go sub 2's and neither used the "typical" 1ft rollout measuring method other idiotic manufacturers like to do)

@miguellopez33929 ай бұрын
thats not a fact, plaid can produce 1500HP at the motors but that would damage the cells, doing 2400 would cook the battery on the lucid, gas cars could do way more HP but thew would also cook themselves.
@ragtop639 ай бұрын
@@miguellopez3392 It is a fact. Lucid has published that information. I didn’t say anything about the batteries either. Their statement is taking about the capabilities of the motors. Go look it up.
@miguellopez33929 ай бұрын
@ragtop63 plaid motors can also produce 2400H if they reconfigured pack voltage, what they don't tell you is that's what it would hold for a few seconds, it kind of like an drag car engine, Stock they produce 300HP, but they can produce 3000HP for 7 seconds by shoving more air and fuel into the engine as fast as possible, but this will cause excessive damage just like running the electric motors at peak power, but it's more so a battery limit, 100KWH batteries can safely do 600-1000HP push them above this and they will start damaging themselves faster and faster.
@ragtop639 ай бұрын
@@miguellopez3392 I don't doubt that. There's a reason why electric motors are used in industrial facilities. I've been building race engines for air-cooled VWs for over 30 years. I've built motors than can sling a Type 1 down the 1/4 in less than 5 seconds. I've also built motors that can get a Type 1 under 10 seconds in the 1/4 and still be a daily driver. I used to build electric go karts back in the early 2000's as well. It's just insane how much more power you can get from a smaller package with electric motors. The only real drawback is the power source. They're limited by the physics of the conductors and materials used to build the cells. However, that technology is getting better and better. Soon we'll be seeing "organic" cells that can produce more power than Lithium and weigh a lot less. That should help improve with power:weight as well as range.
@miguellopez33929 ай бұрын
@ragtop63 electric motors used in industrial facilities are like diesel engines used in semi trucks, low Horsepwer rating compared to the size of engines found passenger cars, the reason for this is it extends service life and reduces the chances of overheating over long work loads, I use power tools all the time. And over the years the batteries have been getting too powerful, I can stick a 18V 200wh battery on a a motor the size of my clenched fist and output 2400w, this is significantly higher power then you will find with alost all corded tools and even some gas push mowers, which corded power tools are limited to 1800w max, I can easy burn out a motor in minutes before the battery goes into a thermal shutdown. Motors have an inherent weakness where if they get too hot their magnets loose strength, and if they get hot enough the coil winding insulation cooks off and you get a short. So improvements must be made In Cooling design and efficiency to reduce heat build up, and then you can keep sending high power for longer than a handful seconds or minutes.

Now they need a cheap out interior one like the plaid so people will buy. You can’t combine that performance with luxury, it’s a little much and that’s why price is insane. Plaid is only 80k now

Can't agree on that.. Other than the nose light bar.. I find it pretty appalling. Looks like a big ass grandpa sedan. The trunk design with that clamshell opening or whatever, is just terrible looking.. horrible lines on that end. The interior is solid.. but. last I heard, they still have a long way to go on getting their software up to scratch. And at this price point it's a helluva gamble if this company is even gonna survive the next 5 years. We'll see how their Saudi backers hold up in time and if this company can ever turn a profit.

Wow that's incredible. I'd still rather have the S Plaid though because for one the sapphire is too much $ for me. Even the Plaid would be a stretch at this point. Two while the interior looks really nice, the outside looks like a cheap Chevy Malibu or something. Three I guess I'm just a Tesla fanboy because I just got a MYP. Four I love the screen effects when you drag race the plaid. That's worth half a second right there 😂

It does look as if you can see the g-force distorting Brooks face, especially during that second pass. It looks as if it would be a bit painful to experience. I'd like to see what it would look like with a heavier set person who isn't in such good shape as Brooks is.

nope, what isnt shown is that the plaid is built to hit 200mph in 20 seconds, the lucid is built to hit 60mph, you will not see a lucid do a 1/2 mile run for a reason.

Motrtrend ran it over the half mile many times. It hits 185mph over the 1/2 mile in 14.5 seconds. Considerably faster than a plaid, which won't even get above 165 without the track pack. Sapphire is quicker and faster to the half mile

lol this would absolutely destroy the new Taycan GT. It wouldn’t even be a close race. The Taycan GT is fast around a track, but it’s still slower than an old Model S Plaid in a straight line.
