@bobbysanchez63082 ай бұрын
@@shushnikI obviously don’t know the guy, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t respect people who neither defended him nor didn’t defend him. There were a lot of actors involved who have high viewership and influence on their viewers. So when they express opinions (or in some cases fail to express something that “really needed to be said”), it can create a ripple effect that causes damage. To what extent can a personality be held accountable for that ripple effect? I think it’s a hard question to answer, because on one hand if they are popular enough they should be aware of their influence and thus more responsible when it comes to their actions, and more sinisterly maybe some will exploit the coverage for views and monetary gain (with little thought about the consequences)-but on the other hand, if they are simply covering the news of the allegations, without expressing opinions, is it really their fault for the public’s consensus being negative/hateful? All this is to say, I think his resentment towards Levy, for instance, could take a more nuanced, second-order perspective such as the one I’ve described. And of course, it could also be influenced by other factors. Finally, if I had to guess, the respect is about the OTB cheating, not the online cheating (but I could be wrong-I don’t know Hans personally). Recall that the only reason he was put under a magnifying glass is that he beat Magnus in a couple games OTB. It didn’t come out that he cheated OTB against Magnus.

Hans could be a convincing 1st in the world, it wouldn't change that his behavior is toxic. Twenty minutes of him acting like he might be capable of being a decent human being is wildly insufficient to counterbalance his antics. You are right, his chess has gotten better. Thank you for this content. This was good 😊 From what I have heard, it seems that Hans is maturing and that the chess world is opening again. Good stuff. Hans said a lot in here, and I was listening in a lot of agreement and even guessing what his response to certain questions would be like. I respect his honesty and his firm beliefs in himself. That question about a training camp with Magnus, I like what he explained; it was his own philosophy, his own personal view and principles on real competing and the value of his chess success. The easy answer was to say yeah to the training camp with Magnus. So, here's a young man who is genuinely confident in his own intelligence, to succeed without the existing schools that say it can only be done in our way kinda thing. Reminds me of myself. Generally, the SCC experience was testing for the character of every person who didn't achieve what they set out to, and the issue is what they shall do with what they found here (at the SCC). Best wishes to Hans moving forwards.

It’s interesting watching this interview and the one with Levy. Hans knows when to act a fool, and when to keep his head and maintain potential portability in chess. His interview with Levy was scary, but this is the Hanns we love!
@fintan92182 ай бұрын
He clearly realized how bad the Levy interview and then complaining about the “server lag” while losing badly to Magnus made him look. So now he is trying to claim he was not playing blitz/bullet much before this tournament. YEAH RIGHT! This was a hugely symbolic tournament for his career, I just dont believe he went into it having not trained in the blitz/bullet extensively against the best players possible. Im glad he admitted he is disrespectful, and needs to get past his resentment over past drama and just play chess. Hope he continues to humble himself and work on his ego, which I fear is a genuine personality disorder. You see a bit of it here where even though he appeared to take accountability, he quickly implied he did nothing wrong and was not ever the aggressor or cause of drama.

Alireza doesn't take unofficial matches seriously, that's why you win some games. Probably, you thought,because you won some matches against alireza and alireza can beat magnus or hikaru, so you can beat them too. Again, if the matches are not official, he plays in a relaxed fashion. If you had been matched up with alireza in this event, you probably get the same result as you played hikaru, if not worse.
