A lot of negativity for a great performance. This is modern metal, it’s sonically demanding so compression is heavily used to make the drums cut through the low tuned guitars and synth layers. Great band, great player, hopefully see them live at some point 🤘

Absolutely flawless playing! Wish the drums were mixed with more life in them tho. Really took away from the performance. Like the fill at 2:38, close your eyes and you can't actually hear what drum he's playing cause they all sound the same.

I already know Haake and like Meshuggah a lot, but the concept of ghost notes was sort of obscure for me lol Good excuse to listen to more Meshuggah, we're always finding new details throughout all their intrincate stuff (and I'm sure it's bound to still happen for a while).

I know this song was highlighted because it was a big hit single for the band but it's the least interesting drum performance on their new album. He's holding back a lot in service of the song. Zev is a fantastic drummer. It seems like a disservice that this is the song Vic Firth chose to feature his talents.

I think he sounds good? Lots of samples and loops goin. Cymbals are buried in the mix. Feet sound great. Too much compression on everything.

The thing that always pisses me off the most about all the performances of extreme genres, is they always cut out the vocals. I understand this is a drum video but they never do those on other genres. It's time for world the move the hell on from this discrimination. Even as a drummer I like to hear and see how other drummers interract with vocals too.

A lot of these drummers this style all sound the same-play the same, have similar super-low tuning, lots of compression… not very interesting IMO.

Not a fan, so they've mixed metalcore and nu metal...such a shame that there really isn't anything new or exciting within the genre, and hasn't been for years now.
