this is my favorite next generation episode of all time. a lot of emotion everywhere and I like that.

The Borg were better written back then. They weren't cartoon villains run by a queen, but a hostile invading force which would have been scary enough if there had only been a handful of cubes out there.

This scene really makes me wish there could have been another episode with Captain Picard and Captain Sisko later on in DS9 where Sisko forgives Picard for Wolf 359 after hearing about what happened to him and the PTSD it caused but there wasn't much reference to the Borg after the pilot episode IIRC.

This scene is just perfect. Word and Data are phenomenal, and I really like that the mere mention of Picard and Riker makes Worf realize his error. The crew, especially the bridge, hold those two in such high regard, even the hint that either would be disappointed is enough to give even a proud Klingon warrior pause.

Poor Q. Man, the guy just stops by to say thanks and this is how he gets treated.😂 when Q was asking how he could repay Jean Luc the captain could have just said get me some Aldebaran whiskey or some real Earl Grey tea, but Jean Luc refuses to accept genuine gratitude. 😅 Goodness gracious Q even did us a favor by warning humanity about the borg. At least be friendly to him.

The design of the game is funny to me. Not the Microsoft Excel graphics, not the three screens, not the cow milking machine controllers... but the fact that they need to focus on all that while the screens rotate in the air for no reason, guaranteeing that they'll often have to play while looking sideways-on at 2D planes...

Jean Luc Picard always asked too much of himself. In a sort of "A great distance into the future, in another galaxy far far away". Another kind of "Anakin Skywalker" emerged. A man who cared more for those around him than himself. A man who became a legend across another galaxy. But never once thought himself the hero. The only difference? One man "fell" to his broken and fractured emotions, while another learned from them and grew stronger and wiser. Pacard was the Anakin Skywalker of this galaxy. His word and deed spread far and wide. Enemies of misunderstanding eventually became friends and allies thanks to Picard. Even befriending a man whose timeless efforts forged a Federation (Ambassador Sarek) a man who knew many Captains but befriended only a precious few. Sarek knew Kirk, and Picard. And spoke of them as "satisfactory". High praise from a Vulcan. Even Spock who knew legends like Pike, Kirk, and Picard as well. And Spock a legend himself as well. All these men were of the highest caliber of officer and gentleman, exceptional explorers and soldiers when needed. But what made them great? Just like Anakin, the greatness came from their enormous ability to live and care for those not only under their command, but those they have befriended as well.

What's hard to swallow is that the sphere wasn't "discovered" much, much, earlier. I mean it appears to be on an established trade route since the Jenolan was going from one known populated area to another, and the Enterprise was not that far out to begin with when they realized these funny readings. I could believe this much more if it was deep space like in the Delta quadrant where nobody went before as per Voyager. And this wasn't some obscure object, I mean imagine the gravitational force of the sphere, has to immense enough that deep space telescopes would've seen evidence of it. To me, this is like saying we didn't discover the big hole in the ground we call the grand canyon until the year 1995, despite tons of traffic going over it for a long time.

i love that data's a master at impersonating everyone he comes into contact with but always chooses to go his own way whenever he ISN'T required to impersonate. he wants to be human, or at least pass as a human, so badly, but he won't cut corners and sacrifice his own unique voice by falsifying himself. he was the role model i needed at 5 years old, but better late than never hey

This also resonates with Patrick Stewart’s background. He witnessed domestic violence of his father against his mother. Many children blame themselves for not being physically strong enough or mature enough to know how to help the victimised parent. 😢

This is why you don’t need to kill your enemy to win. Just make sure they can’t beat you. This is known as war of attrition. The USA won the Cold War with the USSR by making it too expensive for the commies to sustain their arsenal. Capitalism is sustainable, communism is not.
