I’ve got one of those and thdd we motor hums and makes noise like stuff is happening inside, but the output shaft on the motor itself is not turning. I think the motor is shot. It’s a very odd looking motor too. Seems to be full of another gear reduction unit and the output shaft is offset to one side of the motor block.
This is a great video and a lifesaver for those of us who are not as "electrically talented!" That said, I'd like to incorporate an on/off toggle switch as your compressor has. Would you please provide specs on a suitable switch? My compressor is an IR 2475 with 7.5 hp, 230 volt single-phase motor and a 40 amp magnetic starter. Thank you very much, and I look forward to your next video!
@rotarycomptech18 күн бұрын
@@davidbrescia7037 hey thanks a lot. I appreciate it David. Almost any toggle switch will work or even a light switch for that matter there is virtually no load on that part of the circuit as it just controls the power to the coil in the magnetic starter, which has the draw of about a 60 W lightbulb, but that’s just a guess but I know it’s not much

How does the unloader valve work. Does it just shut off air flow to the compressor?
@rotarycomptechАй бұрын
@@TNFMECHANICAL it basically closes the inlet valve and vents the sump pressure to atmosphere
@TNFMECHANICALАй бұрын
@@rotarycomptech ok thanks. Is there 2 Valves? 1 to shut off the inlet and 1 to vent the sump?
@rotarycomptechАй бұрын
@ there’s actually three valves, the inlet velvet itself, the three-way solenoid valve, and the blow down valve.
@chuckpage3890Ай бұрын
The hydraulic unloader mounted on the side. The inlet is fed from the pressure switch that is fed from the receiver. The outlet is feeding the top of the unloader until oil pressure reaches set rating. Hydraulic unloader then closes air from going to the top side of the unloader. The question or rather the problem I'm having is that when the compressor reaches the turn off pressure setting it shuts off and tries to restart and will stop and try to restart and this process continues until you turn off the switch. All inlet valves and discharge valves have been changed, installed 3 different unloaders and a new pressure switch. What would cause it to stop and restart, stop and restart continuously?

I am rebuilding a Quincy 325-ROC 13. I have a question about the crank case vent tube. In the video at 2:42 the vent tube is clearly shown to have the open side of the angle facing to the inside of the crankcase. I only have a parts manual for a record of change 107 and it shows the angle facing the crank case wall. I had to remove may vent tube to clean and repair the o ring sealing surface and now want to make sure which way to install it. any help is appreciated. Frank

@rotarycomptech7 ай бұрын
You’re better off to drain it under pressure, remove the quarter inch control line that goes to the blowdown valve then shut the machine down and it will maintain some pressure without blowing down

Thank you for making this series. I have learned a ton about which tools to use and the techniques used for different steps in this tear down and rebuild. I have a couple of questions about some of the steps that weren't shown in the series involving cleaning and priming. What do you use to polish the journals on the crank? I am guessing you don't use a wire wheel on any of the machined surfaces. When you primed the parts, did you mask off the machined parts. and if so what do you use? At one point you said you were going to let something, I think it was the crank, soak in the "cleaner". What cleaning solution are you using? Thank you!
@rotarycomptech11 ай бұрын
I just used Emery paper on the crankshaft journals. I cleaned all of the castings with old-school carburetor cleaner any paint that I got on the surfaces of the crank case. When I primed it, I wiped off with thinner. Checked out your video on your air compressor on your channel and it looks like you may have an obsolete unit At least, as far as the high-pressure valves go, I believe they are non-existent at this point

@rotarycomptech Жыл бұрын
The rpm should be roughly around 800. As far as the unloader goes it may just be out of adjustment. There are some shims that are located between the valve, body and the housing the shims are used to set the travel of the internal centrifugal unloader mechanism. It may just be out of adjustment.
