Arnold you remember when you had social anxiety and it was like you could either follow the fear and not do stuff or be brave and do stuff but not actually conquer the fear since you're afraid of being yourself because you don't wanna degrade? What did you do to get out of that paradox? How did bioenergetics help?
@HealingHouse887 күн бұрын
@@hypatch8014 oh yes! Generally action beats inaction. Inaction would cause me to beat myself up mentally and just play scenarios in my head of what I should have done. It really hurt. Action on the other hand gave me at least some chance of success which was awesome and encouraging. Sometimes it led to embarrassment too though but at least I put my cards on the table and gave it a try. For a mental hack, I used the 3 second rule where if I wanted to take action and talk to someone and I felt the anxiety start coming up, I'd start counting to 3 and before 3 seconds I'd make a move or else I knew I'd just talk myself out of it and feel aweful later. Bioenergetics helped with not feeling the anxiety symptoms come up as powerfully as they used to until it went away completely, also with the overthinking, and general confidence and trust in myself. It was weird because somewhat randomly I would just find myself calm, present, and grounded in social scenarios where I used to be feeling the anxiety intensely. And I started to look outwardly at others from a place of calm instead of being self focused and worried about me or how I was coming off. It was a total gamechanger for me.

@@hypatch8014 yeah, going through the process of releasing nuerotic holding patterns will produce lasting change. @@freshdumpling Great question. Yes, there is a reason behind it. Through the course of therapy Dr. Lowen found certain phrases came up a lot naturally for his clients and it helped them to go deeper into the expressive exercises and emotional release. However, if "get away" does not do it for you or distracts you from the exercise, then don't use it. Just focus on the exercise and if some phrase naturally feels right when you're in the exercise itself, repeat that phrase instead of get away.

A week or so ago I went to the gym and did push ups, and a guy I was with was looking at me and said bro look at your feet. Bro I don't understand this, how are you supposed to breathe through just your belly, or your chest and belly, unconsciously?
@HealingHouse8824 күн бұрын
It's 2 parts. 1 is to expand your belly and chest without sucking in air. The other part of it is getting rid of the holding patterns. I explain it more in depth here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4nIfWlpmseerMU
@HealingHouse8824 күн бұрын
Let me know if that helps. In the course we do the exercises to release holding patterns. Here is just getting used to breathing without forcing in air so we get trained to allow our body to do the breathing calmly without us consciously having to breathe.
@hypatch801424 күн бұрын
@@HealingHouse88 But I feel like it's impossible to expand your chest without sucking in air, that's like the cue the brain uses to activate the diaphragm or whatever muscle expands the chest, and when "letting the body do the breathing" only the belly expands
@HealingHouse8824 күн бұрын
@@hypatch8014 Sorry, I think I wasn't clear. You will be taking in air, but you will not be "forcefully sucking in air". I bet you're doing it right but to check, open your mouth and suck in air with your throat expanding your belly and chest. This is how many of us breathe. Notice how it feels. Then open your mouth and expand your belly and chest (air will come in naturally because of your diaphragm) but this time you are not actively sucking in air, it just happens to fill up the vacuum. It's a small nuance but it's important especially when getting into tense exercises.

Thanks man for taking the time to make this. I am 31. I know I'm not as young as some of the other men that you've probably spoken to about these types of themes, but it's still been an area that's caused me much pain. I do admit that I mostly have been interested in the sexual aspect of meeting women. I've recognized it. Porn has been a major influencer in my life since young, and right around the the age that you mentioned, around 12 or 13 is when I was first introduced to it. One of the things I noticed too, as you were mentioning, that I am much more grounded since beginning bioenergetics. I even went out yesterday and spoke to two women and just said the first thing that was on my mind, and I didn't feel afraid during, just before. But I do recognize porn is a key aspect that I need to remove in order to face some of the feelings of guilt and shame. It would probably help enhance my bioenergetic sessions greatly, because I know I'm using it to cope or to run from my feelings, so I'm still blocking them and burying them. I think once I let go of porn and continue with the bioenergetic exercises, it will help free up a lot more repressed energy. Just my thoughts. But thanks again for the video, man. It really helped me out. Thank you for answering my question.
@HealingHouse882 ай бұрын
You're very welcome, man. I've spoken to some men in their 50's and 60's addicted to porn too so it's not so much an "age" issue, as it is an addiction issue. There will need to be a clean break from it so that you can detox your brain. Would you be willing to not watch porn for the month of May? If yes, you could use these next few days to clean up your computer/phone etc., social media following, and removing triggers as best you can. Then if you want to masturbate (they used to call this "self-abuse" lol) do it without porn! This way you are unpairing that connection between porn and masturbation. I would track this on a calendar and then in June, you could see if you want to continue on the same path or take it a step further. What do you think? Are you willing to try that? Also, do you have someone who you can talk to about this to help you and hold you accountable? That makes a HUGE difference!
@Jwoody1872 ай бұрын
@@HealingHouse88 Yes, I accept the challenge. I was already thinking about it, but now that you have placed forth the challenge, I definitely accept. For the month of May, I will not look at porn, and if I feel the urge to masturbate, then I'll do so without porn. And in June, I'll see if I can take it a step further and cut out masturbation altogether, and continue with my bioenergetic exercises daily. I do have a friend who I talk about these topics every now and then, and he admits that he would like to do the same in terms of stopping using porn for self-soothing and to run away from unpleasant emotions. So, I'll speak to him, have him hold me accountable, and I take up the challenge.

Things have been going well and I'm feeling less of a desire to use women for sexual gratification, although I'm not gonna lie, those desires are still there. But I'm starting to broaden my perspective a bit more in my interactions with women. So I feel good. @HealingHouse882 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for asking. The Bioenergetics program consists of organized prerecorded videos where I guide you through an ordered series of exercises to work on your full body and tap into your body-mind connection. It is very powerful to grow in confidence but does not include any one-on-one calls, no tailored exercises (just the standard ones), and we do not work on anything other than entering into the body-mind connection to release neurotic holding patterns that keep us stifled. That's this link here: enrichtheworld.samcart.com/products/unleash-your-confidence-from-the-inside-out-copy In the one on coaching, we can tackle other topics too, such as social skills training, reframing mental attitudes, emotional intelligence, and accountability for reaching your goals in fitness, females/family, faith, and self-mastery. I tend to also use the Bioenergetics program in my 1 on 1 coaching because it's very effective and most clients want it. Working 1 on 1 is more expensive but I think it's always valuable to have a dedicated coach if we can afford it.
