forget "scientific evidence" - show me the world champion or world champion coach who recommends heavy weight training. These guys have far more in the game and give far more thought than a c**t who takes time off his palestinian marches to write a "study" Stop complaining about "traditionalism". Ask yourself why all the world class champions and their coaches are telling you to avoid weights. The white coats are not always right. They're often wrong. You are putting blind trust in people just because they say they're clever. Show me the money. Why is it that the white coats have not predicted the training of champions? Those guys are at the top and coaches are known for trying out hunches and theories and maverick ideas. Why would none of them ever think to try weights before and win if this was true? Many weight lifters have bad flexibility and mobility. All you've done is tell me "scientists say..." you are bleating like a sheep about ahtletes and coaches not having "open minds" but what you're calling an open mind isnt a predictor of success in boxing. Why is that? It implies you're not right. If I want to know what makes a champion, I'd rather listen to a champion or a coach, not some university white coat with pronouns on their CV everything you're saying is just "your" idea with tedious diagrams in the background and "motivational music". Take the music and slide-show away and its just your ideas. Your attitude is just I'm clever, you're not. Address why nobody that wins does what you say.... Address why no olympic boxing team, no world chapion coach does your ideas I redd sum books - now I'm clevrer than boxers+ boxing coaches It is tedious hearing you keep repeating like a parrot that everyone except you is just uneducated. You're the ignorant one not them. You're jsut an ignorant person who read some papers. you're "Cheating yourself" - just using scientific papers to do it.

"Punching power" is not a power actually, it's all about the delivery of momentum (p = m*v). So you can measure the impact by changes in momentum: Δp=J=∫F(t)dt

Your part of stiffening IS legit. That does NOT happen as you prepare. The move is a relaxed explosive move and then you lock everything in a stiffening that helps in the penetration.

But the MUSCLES and amount of them have little to do with punching power. There is an element of developing Quick flex muscles, which comes from training with maximum effort all the time, accelerating the weight. But Jack Dempsey knocked people out of the ring and he looked skinny and had very big bones, meaning he had less muscle mass. Punching power comes from HOW you throw the punch. I can throw a hook from 6" away, and hit as hard as someone else with a big swing. The power comes from an explosive combination of locking all the punch movement back to the back foot. The more relaxed the muscles are, the quicker they can move. High muscle tone is NOT helpful. Jack Dempsey had a running bet that he could place his fist on a persons shoulder and knock them out from THERE. I can do this also. But the lunch has the entire body behind it.

Hi! This is fantastic. I reached out to Neil via IG and email, but he didn't respond. On his IG, he references an app and shows this workout spreadsheet. He mentioned an app with the program and listed a website. I couldn't find an app, and the website link is not working. I support a high school wrestling club. I’m a former college wrestler, and back in the 90s, our coaches trained us for strength in the 1-3 rep range. The younger generation trains more like CrossFit. It’s been a constant debate between myself and the other coaches. I shared the video, and they have now agreed to train the team with your methods instead of high-rep circuits. I want to purchase the Excel files /program. Can you point me in the right direction?

Yes, legs are important, but so are the shoulders. Developing the external shoulder rotators improves punching power, as the external rotators act as breaks to stop the humerus from coming out of the socket when a punch is thrown. The more developed these muscles are, the longer they can be left before they switch on as breaks; weak external rotators will cause the shoulder to break early.

The foot should be positioned on the bench so that when the point of the elbow is placed in between the VMO (teardrop) and the kneecap the elbow is slightly lower than the shoulder. The non-working arm is used as support on the bench behind the body, with the leg not involved positioned approximately 90 degrees out and the chest and head halfway between the two. The dumbbell is lowered with the forearm perpendicular to the floor as low as possible without the shoulder dropping forward. In the top position the hand, elbow, knee, hip and foot are all in line. Care must be taken to ensure everything stays in the correct position, the leg is not used to help move the weight and the wrist is not cocked to gain more range in the top position.

Like the various versions of the chin-up, generally an improvement in a fighter’s ability to perform pull-ups will result in an increase in punching power. The movement is initiated by depressing the scapulae and then pulling up until the chin clears the level of the hands. The fighter should only lean back enough make sure the face clears the bar. Many will lean back excessively to ‘cheat’ and so perform extension with the shoulder (pulling the elbows back as in the chin-up) instead of the adduction movement (pulling the elbows into the sides) as a way to get around a weakness. *WIDE PRONATED GRIP PULL-UP* A big exercise that mainly recruits the lats and biceps. Punching power is genetic though, you can train to get it at the level as someone who has it naturally, which is something you need to do anyways, just like speed, chin, and stamina. Some people are born with it and some aren't. I've always hit hard and stopped people, but my speed is trash but that doesn't mean you can't work on it but don't be discouraged if you can't hit as hard as someone's who's blessed with it, work on it and work on what you're blessed with

It reduces rigidity tho. Which I believe is essential when translating all the energy at once into your target. Likely matters less the larger you are. Lead hooks have more force when “falling” backwards also; exhibited in the Pereira example. I think leaping hooks are so effective as “punches you don’t see coming”. Btw SIA if you’re talking about something else 😂

Another point to note is that its arms thst fail most people in punching power. I have big legs for my weight and height and i can feel so much potential power to be discovered but its my wrists or eblow is where the power is lost because they are not as strong as they should be to transfer all the kinetic energy. A lot of people think power punching is genetic, you either have it or you don't and even worse, they think if you hit hard you aren't technical when in reality power punching is one of the most intricate and complex aspects of technique in any sport, it isn't just genetics, it isn't just being strong and fast, the technique while not always pretty is also very complex with a lot that is easy to miss for the untrained or even the trained but biased eye.
