If you aren't wishing harm on people, groups of people, or outright calling for a genocide I really don't give a rats ass if you dislike something. Thing is, if you actually construct the criticism in a way that isn't just shoveling raw sewage over the fence for the sake of 'owning someone', then there's a discussion. Ideas can be shared and opinions can be talked about without fists impacting faces. Being a fan of the Guyver series since the early 90s, I genuinely enjoyed both anime series, both movies, and what little of the Manga I could get my hands on. I have "seen" the OVA, and ... you're right about not watching it.

Great work man. Loved this series growing up in the 90's. I needed a refresher so I'm glad I found this video. One thing to point out though....the Dr. J comment about having a "sick hook shot in basketball" ...that's actually Kareem Abdul Jabbar of the LA Lakers (was also with the Milwaukee Bucks). Dr. J (Julius Erving) was known more for his dunks.

For me I grew up on watching Wing as the first few anime in the early 00's (as well as ones like Tenchi Muyo, Tank Police, Ghost in the Shell, Outlaw Star, etc), and then being able to watch og Gundam and then Seed/Destiny. To me Wing will forever be that one Gundam show out of many that still sticks with me to this day. Despite it's dub pulling double or triple shifts, I still liked what the dub did for it's time. The OST is one of my favourites of all time (seriously some good banger tunes to set the militaristic vibes the show gives off, even during narration moments). It's artistic style choice at the time resonated with me as well (it's why I liked Outlaw Star/Tenchi Muyo for featuring sharp angles and hairstyles, also back when some character eyes had detail to them). The 6 Gundam's themselves are also far more iconic to me than any other Gundam series, even the grunt models, but by far the Mobile doll variants, and the Endless Waltz Serpent custom designs remain to being some of my most favourite ones in mecha history. I also prefer the size of the Gundams in this show, since making them not too insanely tall, but still packing a punch makes them look semi durable, but still deadly (unlike later and earlier models in other shows, where they were Kaiju sized). But by far, the main reason I adore Wing is primarily due to it's focus on themes like long-standing warring, the desires to attain total pacifism, and abuse of AI systems for war-time purposes (funnily enough something we are now doing in our current world with militaries using drones and other AI assisted weaponry). Og Gundam was a great show for covering some of those themes, but to me it never stuck as hard to me like Wing did (I cared for the pilots, the civs, some of the soldiers who stood up for Treize to the very end, etc). I know there's a section of fans that like to crap on Wing, but tbh, most of those folks are either far older than me and already had their fave Gundam show, or those too young to pass on it as a nothing burger, but to me I was also young at the time the show aired in the EU, and I was able to relate to the themes the show portrayed. Yeah the show had some silly goof moments (like Heero threatening to kill Relena after her party invite will forever be a meme, or Heero's multiple laugh takes), but to be fair, so did the original and following other Gundam anime.

Anti infantry leg weapons are pretty common in other mech settings that keep non mecha on the battlefield

Side 6 was in a secret agreement with the Principality of Zeon to make themselves neutral when the war broke out. This was done back in U.C. 0077 where Zeon assisted in the "Riah Revolution". It was also from Zeon they got the tech needed to stsrt making their own "Middle Mobiles" like the RH-35 Dracken-E. They supplied both sides with food and technical components but after Zeon continued to violate Side 6 territory they agreed to let the Federation build and develop a new mobile suit, the RX-78NT-1 Alex Gundam, inside of one of their colonies effectively siding with the Federation. Then Zeon learns about the Alex Gundam and launches Operation Rubicon, destroy the Alex Gundam or nuke the colony. At the same time Riah extradited all Zeon's within Side 6 and more or less lost it's neutrality, however the war was pretty much over at this point. After the war with the Principality now the Republic of Zeon there wasn't any real "need" for Side 6 neutrality and they rejoined/were reabsorbed back into the Earth Federation. Also no shot this is the first time I have EVER heard ANYONE speak positively of that god awful POS weapon called the Gundam Hammer.

Wing has the best suit designs by far, in my opinion. When I look at suits from other series, they're all either too plain or WAY too busy. Wing strikes that nice middle ground for me. This is also the reason I prefer the classic Wing Zero design to the EW version, those angel wings are just too much.

Gundam Wing is by far the most deeply philosophical Gundam series, and one of the great deep philosophical anime. The criticisms I've heard are very shallow, from people who seem to want a spectacle rather than true depth. Also Zech' mask and mobile suits, no question. UC designs are too derpy or simple for me.

The only thing i like about G-witch are Guel, the prologue and the Gunpla(which honestly high quality little stickers, well designed mecha, solid joints and not loose and heavy stickers like IBO) If i have a nickel for every gundam series that have bad anime but good gunpla, i would have 2 nickels(AGE and G-Witch)
