oh my heart goes out to you. my current dog is very similar to Rancho, both in appearance and behavior. one previous dog died after a series of seizures in August 2021 and another in May 2010. When i had to put Leon down in August 2021, i spent the whole evening before that looking at all the rescue and shelter sites in Colorado. I found one dog with his same eyes and two hours after i had to put Leon down, i had Gubbio. as my actual working cowboy Dad often said: when you fall off the horse, get right back on.

Hello. Thanks you for comprehensive harness review. I am using Julius K9 IDC Power Harness for Nose Work. I am thinking to change Harness for my border collie. Because, Y shape harness is more comfortable for her movement. But I need handle with Harness. I am interested in Non Stop dog wear Rock Harness. Do you think any good harness with handle since this video made?

my furry little goofball looks just like Rancho, but with a darker coat, and acts just like him, being so playful. he's the north american cowboy brother from another mother, loving life at the foot of the rocky mountains.

I find that like in a lot of dog breeds boys are like more like hyperactive and destructive especially in boxes. German boxes. I have one for three years and all of them I had four of them in total.

Would you be able to share your thoughts on the MADE TO ROAM Harness? Do you think the straps at the shoulders sit high enough to not restrict mobility?

The Rainbows Bridge Poem Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown..

I am seeing this video and your channel for the first time. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a “best friend” is one of the most painful experiences. I have lost 2 of my loves, Blue & Koda within the last year. Blue, an American Bully lived until he was 14. Koda, a shepherd mix lived 12 happy years, passing in his sleep only 2 weeks ago. 😢 I have a poem to share with you that I hope brings you some peace. I will send it in a separate post. Lots of love to you & your family. 🐾❤️❤️🐾

My sympathy. I had a beloved Tervuren 13.5 years, and I still miss him 10 years on. He had excellent health, but our cockapoo began having seizures. Now, I'm not saying this will work for anyone reading this, but it's my story and factual. I would sit on the floor and put my hand on her and pray (in Jesus' name) quietly, but out loud that, as one of God's created beings, I was asking for healing for her. My daughter would sit too w a hand on her and pray over our girl until the seizure ended. We never put her on any medication bc I just wanted to seek spiritual medicine first. The seizures came for a couple years about every 3 months, then every 6, then a year or more apart, then none at all, and she lived to 16 yrs. We gave up Halloween bc the constant door ringing set off the seizures, but then I realized there is a spiritual darkness that comes w Halloween, and we gave it up for good realizing our dog was the catalyst to stop observing it as their spiritual instincts are more sensitive than humans( I believe) and it was no coincidence she had seizures, I think 3 years in a row, around 8:30 pm Halloween night.

Having outlived many beautiful loving canine companions, I have come to believe that the best way to get over the emotional pain of losing a dear family pet and that is to pick out a new puppy or rescue another dog. You won't forget him but you will move that dog into another compartment within your mind. You will remember the happy times with your pet. It is good to have videos and old toys where you can see them as well. Your heart may not heal completely, but your mind will let it rest and the new puppy will fill up that void left from the previous one. Good luck and really think about adopting a new dog. You are a dog family and you need a dog.

I am so very sorry for you're loss. Rancho had been a very lucky Dog to have had you in his life. And you were all A True Blessing For Each Other. I'm sure that Rancho is and will always be watching over you both. He would want you to be happy, and not un-happy. Take time and morn your loss. But another little one could be a good idea possibly in the future. A lot of abused and abandoned dog's need a good safe and loving home. Or possibly 2 eventually one and later another. They could also have another dog to keep each other company, when you are not home. One possibly for each and or all of you ? And twice as much love to share, Right ? Thank You for sharing sad news with us all. A great loss. Blessings to you and yours. Such Wonder Dog Parents. Take Care, Ruby.

Strapping a dog into the backseat, using a crash tested seatbelt harness (like Sleepy Pod brand) might improve motion sickness because he’s facing forward can watch the road more easily to anticipate movement and get fresh air. Also, I believe that a crash tested seatbelt harness might be safer than a crate in the event of an accident. Think about it with the seatbelt it should restrain the dog from hitting other objects (similar to how humans are rest ), whereas in the crate the dog is going to hit the of the crate and there’s really very little padding there especially if the crate is up against the side of the car and is not allowed to flex at all. The other benefit of the seatbelt is it takes up much less space in the car and home both when in use and not in use.

Hi. i was looking up some information for my son who wanted to do his presentation on my mum's dog, Isha, who looks just like your Rancho and I stumbled upon your instruction video with the 5 questions to ask before getting a Terv. Immediately after that video, this one popped up. I couldn't stop crying for the whole video. You mention you "hope" you gave him a good life.... I think you should never use these words again as it 's so obvious that you DID give him the best life there is! You have been the most caring loving dog parents any dog should have! The love between you and Rancho is so so beautiful... I grew up with a Groenendael, Odin and even after I left the house he was the main reason (sorry, mum and dad) I visited so often. He had pulled me through so many sad times in my teenager years and I couldn't hug anyone like I could hug him until my son was born. I still miss him so much as he was my best friend. They are just the most loving dogs ever. I hope the birth of the twins will comfort you and I can only advise you to get a new puppy before they're born. Some people say they don't want to "replace" their best friend so soon that they need to mourn but the new life doesn't mean you can't keep mourning.... A new puppy will never erase the memories you have of Rancho and Rancho wouldn't want you guys to be so sad especially now you're expecting another new form of life into your lives! He would lick away at you, jump all over you and urge you to be happy again just as he was all the time.... This being said I don't want to minimalise your pain whatsoever. It's the worst thing to lose somebody so close to you, who 's given you so much. Sending you love and healing...

Beautiful dog. I've had 3 tervuerens but have not seen the high energylevel you describe. My cousin owns a malinois....and thats a real energy bomb. As for training; in my experience the tervueren is an easy to train breed. They want to work for you. Mine is a gentle, intelligent lady......and love her to bits😊

We had both. They have not really been used in Belgium as working dogs for a long time. When I was young we had one from a line that was bread from old lines. Shorter hair, shorten snout, just black in his face. It was what we call a fired one, because of her colours. She would never be scared of anything. She would act by herself in a flash when she thought there was danger. My parents sometimes play fought each other to see what the dog would do. She went nuts, barking, not knowing who she should defend. When I was older I had a female who’s father was Belgian show champion. They are still different from those I see in the States. I always heard, don’t know if it is true, the foreign ones were crossed in France with Lassies to get a longer fur. Those I saw on pics do seem to have more hair and longer snouts like Rancho. Anyway, she was more unstable. She was more agressive to other dogs, the rough playing she talks about was worse, she wanted to dominate other dogs and used sneaky methods like playing with a dog and at a moment could change it into a rough play when the other dog was not ready. She would pinch bottoms of people that entered she didn’t know. She was scared of going to the market surrounded by many people, once she knew visitors were welcome she didn’t watched the visitors anymore. She was obedient but of leash, when she saw another dog, 50/50 she listened and came back or went after the dog for rough playing, showing her dominance. Or a Tervueren is faster, or stronger than other dogs of leash. Other dogs can’t stand to bite her neck because of her collar. Here, the collar is more pronounced and thick, not so long as Rancho fe. But females have a different collar than males. I saw the first one attack a person. She jumped up, bit, pulled with her weight for an instance and did it two more times lightning fast before I could catch her. I was young and I and a friend were bragging. He held the leash and I pretended the guy hurt me and my friend couldn’t hold her. Very stupid of me. They are beautiful and gentle but when it is go time they don’t hesitate. Handle them with caution. They look nice but have the heart of a Malinois and the same athletic capabilities under that fur. They are the only Belgian Shepherd not used by police because they are so impulsive. Malinois are broken in their training, a Tervueren you can’t treat them like that. I remember in class I punished the last one by grabbing her collar, not hurting her, just grab and shake a bit and she grabbed my wrist holding it. The trainer explained they need to be handled gently, like Caesar Milan does. Use dog psychology, not force to train them. The worst punishment is to ignore them. They are sensitive.
