By popular demand, here's another short morning yin yoga class! This will help you stretch your entire body in just 15 minutes with simple passive poses. This is suitable for all experience levels (beginners welcome!) and no props are needed. The poses we will do are: butterfly, deer, half butterfly and melting heart with a few counterpose stretches in between.
Luna joins me in this morning's yoga class but she pretty much just sleeps the entire time ;)

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.
Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.
Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student. I usually teach poses held for around 4-5 minutes. Learn to surrender and keep a timer close by if needed.

So, I've been super burnt out over these last few months. I'm a college kid and my classes are just relentless. This morning I decided that I'm going to take this time and do something for myself. I think this was amazing for a few reasons: you took your time and embodied all of the poses, the counterposes were excellent and you were gentle with everything. A short but very robust 18 minutes very well spent. You have a subscriber in me!

My intention today is ”enjoy/in joy” I am so blessed to be home with my 1 year old (who is sleeping poorly right now) so it’s a good reminder than although the night was tough, I enjoy so much being with him and it’s easy to find ways to be in a state of joy around a young, smiling, exploring child. Hi Kassandra! My word today is Care. I would love to do more morning yin yoga practices with you! Some mornings I don’t have the energy for a flow practice - I’m in recovery from chronic stress, have PMDD and SAD and yin yoga is manageable and a good way for me to keep up a daily yoga practice when my body is asking me to take it easy.

Kassandra, I have been a yogi since 2005 and during some of those years, I have grow closer to my practice and then other times further away. Recently I began following your videos since early Jan. starting with 10 min of morning yoga to get centered during lots of changes in my life. Those 10 mins have quickly grown to 20, 30, 45 when I have the time to dedicate. I tend to get impatient during yin classes and this morning's practice from this video was a beautiful way to remind myself to be patient and look for balance in my hectic schedule. I truly believe that part of what connects us to our practice is the connectedness that we feel to the teacher and you inspire me to trust my inner guide. Kassandra, I always thought the best way to start the day was some sweaty exercise or a brisk walk. I was never really the biggest fan of yin yoga, especially in the morning. But last night I came across your ‘3 Principles of Yin Yoga’ KZbin short and I thought I would give it a try this morning. I did this yin practice after doing a 20-minute gentle beginner morning practice. That one got my blood flowing and this one helped me stretch out and ground myself in my day. I started off with HAPPY but then at the end, it became HAPPY & HEALTHY. Thank you, Kassandra! I love your short videos, especially for yin. Sometimes, that’s all I’m in the mood for and sometimes, it’s just what I need to get inspired to do more. ❤️

Luna looks just like my dog! She was lying by my side too. When we first got our dog and tried to work out she thought it was play time and would jump all over us! I chose 'love' for my word - because love always feels amazing! And 'yes' to more yin yoga!

Yes please more short yin morning especially for beginners and with props and more guidance (setting up the pose and where the stretch should be felt) the on positions.

Morning yin yoga is so great, so please more of these 15 minutes yin yoga video's ! My word was "love." Luna did too a great job at the end!

It was lovely to find a morning yin yoga practice that can have time to do; although shorter than your usual yin yoga practice (which is what I wanted, in fact), it helped me to achieve a great feeling of content, which was my intention for the day. My heart was happy to bathe in this warm space where she could just be. Namaste!
