Not to mention Dr. Grande’s outfits are actually good looking and fit him, even entertaining such as in this Hawaiian looking shirt today. Seagal’s looks look like an unending torture for the eyeballs, an overstuffed sausage in a too tight, too long, black rotted casing. Wouldn’t want to eat, smell it, touch it, be in the same city block as it. I’ll take Dr. Grande’s Hawaiian shirt any day over Steven Seagal wearing anything or nothing.

I never could stand Segal. In the late 80's I actually ran into him at a video rental store. He was there with some blonde model type talking to the owner. I could just FEEL the arrogance and insecurity. He kept looking at me like he was waiting for me to recognize him. When I finshed paying I said bye to the owner and the model and ignored Segal. I wish I could have seen his face.

My favourite Seagal story is that he was on a movie set telling everyone how the Dalai Lama gave him some special blessing, and he reached a spiritual awareness about most people, just then someone told him his wife left a message saying she couldn't bring his kids over for the weekend. He blew up and started calling her every name under the sun.

Back in the late 80's when his acting career was in its prime (for lack of a better word) people were convinced he was a former Navy SEAL and Vietnam veteran, not to mention a total badass. I guess people were a lot more impressionable in those days. I only ever saw one film of his that was watchable, and I'll be damned if I don't recall which one it was. You should do a longer documentary on him called *Above the Truth, the Many Lies of Steven Seagal.*

Judging by all the weight Seagal has gained, he could start a whole franchise of movies using his 3 letter formula. Titles such as: 1. "Time For Breakfast." 2. "Early For Lunch." 3. "What's For Dinner?" 4. "Late Night Snack." (Subtitled "Meal #4"). A buddy of mine works in movies as an extra and occasionally as a stunt man. According to him, Seagal is the biggest a**hole in Hollywood.

Seagal's early movies were actually very good, as an action movies, of course. Under Siege was an excellent premise. I met Seagal when I was working as armed security officer for company called Westec, and found him very respectful.
@micnorton9487
@micnorton9487 6 ай бұрын
Under Siege was "an excellent premise?" A rogue CIA operative goes postal,, takes over a US Navy battleship with ONLY the executive officer helping him,, and brings a playmate in a cake for some reason that's totally inconsequential except for giving Seagull a female costar... This operative ALSO stole a North Korean submarine and just sorta kept it for,, I don't know,, a fishing yacht or something... THEN you got the ship... The USS Missouri,, a 55000 ton BB with a crew of over 1200... The crew is either totally incompetent OR the exec's orders seem kosher JUST BECAUSE there's a playmate coming aboard... Orders to disregard the security of the ships nuclear weapons are "protested",, rather than brought to the immediate attention of the captain and whatever admirals were associated with the ships deployment... And the captain - NO CAPTAIN IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY EVER sits in his cabin reading a novel, especially not for hours and hours... And that idiotic story about the party sucks so much wind that it's a Hoover deluxe,, nothing's ever unscheduled on a United States Navy warship except maybe combat and this took place during peacetime.... And now the "hero"... Or should say ZERO,, Casey Ryback... Ah forget it,, I already am about to projectile vomit from recalling all the stupidity of under siege....

Seagal is a prime example of a peak hypermasculine superego on steroids. He reminds me of Pat, an old classmate from high school. Pat claimed to be a Navy Seal, then a CIA operative, then a fire jumper, then a deputy sheriff in some county we could never locate because he kept changing the name, thinking we wouldn't notice (Ashtabula/Beluthihatchi/Shanictopee/Menominieno/Wampum). In his next incarnation Pat was chef, but not just any chef. He was trained at Cordon Bleu in France. Then he started dropping names of all the restaurants where he was executive chef, which is either really impressive or means he can't hold down a job. And of course, he trained under all the big name chefs. I know this sort of personality all too well. I think everyone has known a guy like Pat...or Steven Seagal.

You guys watch too much internet. When ever was he hypermasculine....more so than the rest of 'em? Out of all the 80's/90's action stars he was the least overtly muscular....just in shape but without the bulging muscles. He did not stereotypically get 'the girl' in every movie or at least they didn't show it much, unlike the other guys. Fighting was more believable than most of the other nonsense. Bad actor......aren't they all 😏? Only one who can really act but showed it in just a couple of movies is Stallone. First 5 or 6 Seagal movies are just gold! After that it was a sliding scale.....as with most.

Chuck Norris seems humble, likeable and doesn’t appear ( at least in my view ) not to take himself too seriously even though he is a tough martial artist. Hi Doctor Todd! There's an anecdote where Gene Le bell performed a chokehold on him and Seagal hit him in the balls when he found out he couldn't get off of it. He was bragging about a secret infallible technique to break chokeholds. The issue was that Le bell took that low punch as a man and didn't let go Seagal, then Seagal made an incredible effort to break off and defecated his own pants. He has denied everything, he even denied knowing La Bell, or having heard about him, which frankly doesn't help. Seagal is a bad actor, a very cuestionable sportsman and a complete fiasco as a person.

Steven is one of the weirdest dudes in Hollywood. Even once he had broken in and gone over he still kept up the shtick. Brilliant, Doc, as always. A couple of things about Seagal just from my own experience: the character flaws, and acting flaws, are just as you stated. However, I did find his first film interesting, because of this: rarely has anyone come out of nowhere, with NO acting training, and carried a film. It almost never happens. I'm not saying he was a "good actor" in that film, but I am saying he was good ENOUGH. With no acting training. If I recall correctly, producer Michael Ovitz was one of Seagal's Aikido pupils, and decided at some point that Seagal possessed enough charisma to possibly cross over into some film work. In my opinion, Seagal did just fine -- I speak only of the first film. It never got any better. Also, Seagal had some advantages regarding Aikido (which reminds me, your summary of Aikido was correct -- it's graceful, but almost useless in combat): Aikido depends on split-second timing. Seagal had that, and he knew what he was doing as far as his favorite techniques. But he also had an "unfair" advantage, which is that he is very tall. If you've trained in the least practical martial art, but you tower over your opponents and have a huge speed advantage, how can you lose? Anyway, thanks for this great, and very funny, video.
