Great work giving it a good go and pleasantly surprised. Very easy to do conscious breathing followed and a quick cold shower in the morning. Very quick! Ha ha.
@religionripper21166 жыл бұрын
Well in reality when you are in stress, your fight-or-flight mechanism is working in overdrive. You just act instinctively. For eg if you saw a bear, you would run automatically. You dont have to consciously follow the process. This happens when your prefrontal cortex shuts down which is responsible for emotions, calculations, theorising etc. So in stress you lobotomise yourself. But when you do wim hof method or meditate or do rythmic breathing, this slows down your fight-or-flight response and your pre frontal cortex can work optimally which gives you more control over your emotions.

@@danieloleary1129 I've had some pretty intense experiences while practising this technique, but all in all my experience has been very positive. Maybe just try cycling through the exercise once per day (working your way up to hours of practice) and then a cold shower after? I think it would be important to go at your own pace ensuring that you're getting to a a somewhat deeper level of oxygenation, exhale comfortably and hold till you feel discomfort (wim advises not to force anything) and then deep breath in and hold for 15 secs (this part is the magic for me haha.) I'm only 30 so my circumstances are not the same as yours, but whenever i have noticed something that has happened (tweak in a muscle or whatever) it has generally worked out positively (my back opened up and i stop experiencing neck and shoulder tension) I've also found stretching (yoga) helps me to get oxygen to parts of my body that are usually tense. I also found that changing my diet (cutting out sugar essentially) (more ketogenic diet, periodic fasting) and mindfulness meditation all helped my ability to heal myself. Much love feel free to ask any questions :)

Take a cold shower for at least 30 seconds to wake up your system get it in high gear. I take a five min myself. Second try the deep breathing he talks about by just taking a deep breath and let go and repeat do it till you start to feel the effects (pressure in your face nose forehead tingling throughout the body ) and when you really start to feel that let go of all the air and hold it for as long as possible and then fully inhale and hold it for as long as possible and that’s it. If you do this correctly you will start to hear 👂 the effects a blissful tone ( seriously ) and you’ll feel your whole body vibrating . In total of breaths umm probably around 50- 80 whatever you can tolerate or till you really feel it.

But I don't really understand how holding your breath is meditation? Yes, it feels interesting when doing WH exercises but I'm not sure it's meditation
@S1eep1ess6 жыл бұрын
Lt H meditation means to me concentrating on what my breath is doing and how my body acts when my mind is focusing on the breaths. Being conscious of the breath means i am not thinking as much on thoughts running through my brain. Meditation allows my brain time to rest from processing loads of racing mind thoughts whilst focusing on one local thought, that is the breath. Breath is the one continuous presence I can rely on to bring me back to myself and calm my racing mind.

As someone below already pointed out, meditation is also known as prayer. They are essentially the same thing, both quiet the frontal lob, and activate the deeper, calmer inner brain (sorry I don't have the medical names off hand...but you know what I mean). I find it deeply saddening that here in the U.S., the Left has demonized religion, and therefore by default harbors ill feelings, and resists, the practice of prayer. The Left promotes the self, the conscious self, above all else. This is an inherently unhealthy view of how one should see him/herself in the world, and is the opposite of the spiritual view, which is the basis of our spiritual, and therefore emotional and physical, health. When we focus on the self, as we ignore the spiritual, we deny the very essence of who we are in this world/universe.

I definitely experienced some strange results when starting out though (i attribute it to dealing with all the damage i had done prior with sugar and lack of exercise) This only happened for the first few days with me. This is all very well, but it doesn’t disguise that his 10 week course / access to an app is 249 Euros! If he wanted to benefit humanity it would be free. The most desperate, needy people have the least money, so the entire approach is disingenuous. He is not running a non-profit enterprise. Health for the wealthy, not the masses.

My intuition is that Wim has a tremendous amount of knowledge and wisdom to share. But, for the life of me, I can not understand what he is saying. My wish is that Wim joins with a Dutch speaking writer, and Wim imparts is knowledge to the writer in Dutch and the writer writes a book in Dutch. Then hire a professional translator to translate the book into English.
