Another fun fact lots of people forget is that Hive Scum is a subsidiary of the Sheinhardt Wig Company.

i absolutely love and agree with the sentiment of "make cool shit first, worry about the rules later" so much so that i and my husband made our own wargame ruleset from the ground up around exactly that mentality

Dopesmoker shoutout 🗣. that album and Electric Wizard's Dopethrone were both influential in my teens, and very grimdark in retrospect.

The warband being a collection of dudes from different factions that would never work together, trapped on a planet due to warpstorms so they have to, is very Rogue Trader. It's what Rynn's World was all about. Just folks trapped together on a Mad Max wasteland, making alliances with whoever is on hand in order to survive while their respective faction bosses aren't looking.

One of the nice things about grimdark future is that because it's a very internally balanced game you can kinda just bring whatever and your list will most likely still be pretty viable.
@billiondollarclownfarm2 ай бұрын
tbh from my one day of playing it, it felt like the kind of rule set you could probably break if you wanted to/no one has bothered power gaming it mostly because it’s not that kind of system or audience, but yeah I thought it was a lot of fun and definitely see why people play it. You can just kind of bring whatever and it’ll probably go okay ish/things work very intuitively. But there’s some good combos in there lol (spamming engineer and tough models felt pretty strong and I’m really glad I didn’t know that before the event)
@Red0Leader2 ай бұрын
Engineer spam has the downside of being rather slow and unwieldy to use as you have to activate both the engineer and the tough model. And in that time your opponent is activating all their good stuff first. Sure you can save all your engineers for the end but then you risk them getting picked off before they get to do anything or the tough units getting targeted down and killed outright. The point is most list building combos and strategies in grimdark future are less valued than just good piloting and I find that very refreshing.
@billiondollarclownfarm2 ай бұрын
@@Red0Leader for sure, I honestly forget what model I even ran him as at this point (something from the space wolf detachment) but my big Mek was an engineer that could target himself since he’s a tough model within X inches of himself, but yeah taking lots of small separate engineers feels less good.

Great stuff. Love the introspection and am just pleased as punch that you got to flex your creative juices and just enjoy the "miniatures" part of miniatures wargaming. And your models look sick to boot! Awesome.

I expect royalties for using video footage of my hands playing with toys. It should be based on the 3 seconds they were featured. I'll let you do the math and pay me appropriately based on how much that content brought to the video okay thank you

@@underthedice hey sorry I know you told me not to tell anyone but if you’re going to be weird like this in public to hide the fact that I only came to your festival because you offered me $500 in Shiba Inu Coin which you refused to pay me because I broke Gage’s shower by doing my famous “Reiver Grappling Hook” (which everyone loved) im gonna have to get the police involved

I think wargamers have really fallen into a trap of seeing models as a ticket to a given set of numbers instead of looking at some numbers and thinking "what model do I have that works for that". All this talk of"invalidated" models is so disempowered. Games Workshop cannot tell me to put my toys away, they're not my dad (because my dad is dead).
