Tbh a shiny would probably be annoying because it adds like half a second to each encounter, and that will add up. A 1 hour grinding session could be a solid 3-4 minutes longer just because of the shiny animation

*LA SHORE* Literally the first move I mentioned is STAB (you’re probably thinking of Head Smash, the Rock Type move). A good movepool is commonly defined as one that supports the Pokémon’s role: in Bouffalant’s case, a wall breaker wants a lot of coverage. What else does it need? It has high power STAB & coverage plus set up with Swords Dance. There’s a lot of Pokémon who could use the aforementioned moves better, true, but it does still help it out because, like you said, Normal isn’t the best typing offensively. I’m not denying that it’s pretty mediocre compared to other Normal Types though so I do agree with you there as well with preferring Tauros over Bouffalant.

That shiny starter is fake, you didn't yell "Let's GO!" 30 times, posted it on twitter, clipped it on Twitch and uploaded that clip on KZbin extending it to just over 10 seconds for the ad revenue. Gen V has that awkward XP system based on relative level. Makes the grinding worse, not better.

I'm half way into the video when I heard you say Joltik was one of your favorite gen 5 Pokémon. This makes me happy because it's my favorite bug type. I did a bug type only run of Ultra Moon and was lucky enough to hatch a shiny Joltik using the maseuda method after 15 tries. I named her Tes as sort of a pun ,Tes being short for Tesla, and her mother was named Jewlz. Edit: I finished the video and I'm honestly shocked hearing Hydreigon is weak to bug, it makes sense type wise but it's shocking to me to imagine a Weedle TECHNICALLY being able to defeat it.

You getting a shiny starter on your first try reminds me when I first got Pokemon Black. I was completely new to Pokemon and I got it as a used cartridge at Gamestop. I wanted to start a new save and everything, but I didn't know that you had to do the button combination to actually delete the save. So after around three times of getting my starter, a couple of other Pokemon, trying to save, and getting the message that I couldn't overwrite it, I finally looked up what to do. So, forth time's the charm and I got my Snivy, my Purrloin, and my Lillipup that I repeatedly kept losing. After a few months later and knowing more about Pokemon at this time, I was surfing through my dex because I was bored and had beaten the game. I noticed a little star mark next to the Lillipup in my dex and I was really upset because I figured I had run away from a shiny during the countless times I'd always run into that Pokemon. But then I realized that the same star mark was next to it's evolved form. So, I went into my box, checked my Herdier, and low and behold, it was a shiny. Tl;dr: I caught a shiny that was the first Pokemon I ran into and because I was a noob at the time, didn't realize it until a few months later.

Gz on the shiny, I recently challenged myself with a “Can you beat Pokémon alpha sapphire with only in-game trades with no healing” and my starter Mudkip (since I can’t hack) was a shiny :D

Challenge Ideas: No optional battles. So if you can skip a trainer on a route, in a gym, a rival battle, you have to. No level grinding on wild battles. You can only catch wild pokemon, and only those that you will use on your team. A different challenge would be adding level caps for your team so you're always underleveled and can't sweep through teams. Your choice if you want to make it single or multiple pokemon on your team. I'll add in no rare candy, exp share, lucky eggs, traded mons as well for more challenge.

Added challenge would be that by the elite 4, you have to have a team of 6 all even leveled. Trick would be to get pokemon that level fast like Milotic. One more challenge idea: No spending money on anything. Simple. You can make it as hard as you want by having no pickup items and even not using any items other than tms/hms, pokeballs you pick up, and key items in or outside of battle.

@@LaughingCffn I'd say beating the game with a rattata sounds impossible. I'm just spitballing to try something new and he could make any changes if he wants to try a variation of it 👍. Like there's a loop hole of just losing to the same gym leader on purpose to level grind on the mandatory battle, but it's his choice on if he wants to limit himself on that.

I have a suggestion: Do it with only max evolution pokemon. Rules: - any pokemon that cannot evolve any more is allowed in battle - held items only in battle - no glitches

Hey, I had an interesting Idea for another Challenge. Dunno, you might need to up the challange a bit but the basic idea is the following: Can you beat Pokemon Platinum while only using field moves? Those being: Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, Defog, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Flash, Dig, Teleport, Sweet Scent, Softboiled, Milk Drink and Chatter.

I think that'd be only interesting, if there would be some limitations in which Pokemon he can use. Otherwise fly, surf, dig and strength on fully evolved Pokemon will be more than enough to easily win

Maybe adding the rule that he can only use Pokemon which can at least learn 5 of these moves, such as the Psyduck line and Bedoof. It would be the HM slave challange, because at that point these Pokemon would make great slaves. And each Species only once, of course.

All jokes aside, I love these videos and I love Pokémon and the weird challenges you can do with the game, so reading text that comes up on screen is kinda important to me, especially since much of the video is narrated, anything that comes up for me to read and notice myself is fun!
