Here's something that was recommended to me a long time ago...parental advisory (just saying)....Do a google image search for prop injuries, take a long hard look at what happens when you disrespect your props...never, ever forget. If someone's in the water= engine off, for any reason. All it takes is one accidental bump of the throttle at the wrong time to ruin someone's life.

Good Afternoon All 😊: Come on now CCC don't you think the pontoon driver did his best. It was a 4 hr rental & he used that time to practice his docking techniques. He knew he sucked at it but this guy is crafty. He didn't use his boat & not one of the ladies got off their butts to hand off the stern line. I guess the women thought that the boat ties itself up to the dock by itself or maybe magic. Thank you sir for another great video & your narration was on target. Stay safe all, TMP from N.J.

Absolutely love watching your videos. I'm awestruck at how difficult so many people at one ramp can make docking a boat look. Docking isn't hard, throttle control is your friend...never a need to just goose it unless you're running up a trailer and even then that's wrong. It seems none of the drivers are watching the wind or water flow, heck watch other boats to see which way they drift and make your approach accordingly. Watching these two struggle was brutal, if I ever see something like this I'll offer to help.

This channel takes me back to my childhood when I would ride on the back of my Dad's motorcycle with him to Walker boat ramp on Raccoon lake in Indiana. We could spend hours there watching the idiots 😂🤣 We had an 18 foot I/O boat and had the launch & recovery down... And I was only 10 but could line the boat up on the trailer, nudge the boat forward until it just engaged the guide rollers. Dad would attach the bow hook and winch the boat into position. The key was to back the trailer into the water to just the right depth. Easy peasy!
@lesheinen61162 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve....Just bought a 22' sailboat and would like to know what would be the "right depth". I have been mentally launching and recovering the boat before I try it for real and become an item on KZbin. I am thinking that it would be the depth that the boat breaks free and floats on its own but perhaps you could give me some guidelines from your experience. Thanks!

I've said this before:. Prior to the 1990s I knew next to nothing about boating. But, a friend of mine who grew up around boats bought a 31 foot Formula. He has a slip at Lake Powell. Not to brag, but I observed and learned, and I was trusted within hours to operate that vessel, learned the helm, etc. Pointing out my "captain" experience is in airplanes. But, a boat on water and an airplane are BOTH affected by wind and currents. Docking a boat (stable platform) and/or putting an airplane on the ground gives you a different level of control. Astonishing how some people don't get it! Adding, and airplanes operate in THREE dimensions!

Boat rentals should require some form of training or certification. In Washington State, and many other states, boat owners are required to take a course and possess a boater's card. Basically a driver's license for boats. However, rentals are exempt from requiring said boater's card. This makes no sense! I keep my distance from rental boats as much as possible. Too many people who rent boats have no clue what they're doing and have no business operating a boat.

Here in Kentucky they will rent you a house boat and turn you loose on the lake, even if your not qualified to operate a tricycle. How do I know, because I was tied up in a cove fishing in my pontoon and got hit by a 70 ft rental. I guarantee they don't let these assholes try to dock them when they return to the marina because they would destroy the docks.

In the UK, no charter company will charter you a boat unless you are qualified. Certificates must be provided and they will still hold a security deposit of £1,000 to £3,000, or more, depending the boat being chartered. Large sailing yachts will need to have a commercially endorsed skipper with qualified mate as minimum. Sailing may be tougher around the UK, I’m not sure, but we do get some horrendous weather and incredible tidal streams. So, stay well clear of the idiots that have no idea what they re doing, particularly if they’re heading in your direction😮 Stay safe out there 😊
