The joke is a play on words (or in this case, words and numbers). 2020 is the next US presidential elections and that in 2020 Trump's voters will vote someone else due to his actions currently (which would be in their hindsight by 2020)

He knew he was busted, and that someone got his emails, and he was getting blackmailed, or knew everything will b published, so he decided to go Samurai on it, and commit self suicide, and play his last card, the innocence ignorant card of "I didn't know it is something bad to do and meet that guy, otherwise why did i publish those emails" It is like someone stealing a house, and filming himself, and then after he got caught he showed the footage and said "i didn't know i was doing something wrong, otherwise why would i be filming!"

This guy and his family has like tons of lawyers, and i think he is 39 years old, so he has been through tons of cases, especially being the son of someone famous with lawsuits... and he has tons of consultants, and he suddenly decided to release something that could create a huge fuzz out of nowhere? Anyway, i would bet that this is what happened... and that's why he released it.. and when he already started using this technique of "i don't know, i didn't know, why would've i release them if i knew...." check his interviews
