I think it has to do with the fact that around age 50 hormones and digestive enzymes change, causing your actual tolerance to alcohol to decrease. At his age you will also lose the ability to perceive just how intoxicated you are. So he is drinking the same way he always has, but is experiencing an exaggerated effect.

@@robertpetrie6999 Never know. I've known some alcoholics who drank from sun up to sun down and died of other causes in their 70s/80s. Yeah they may be outliers, but Bert may get (extremely) lucky. I also wonder how much of this is greatly exaggerated in the way Dean Martin's schtick was always being drunk during his shows, but he actually didn't drink at all. Obviously Bert drinks anytime his brand is being shown to the public, but I wouldn't be too shocked if most of his stories are largely made up/exaggerated.

Love this ep! But the sound levels keep fluctuating, and I found myself lowering or raising the volume throughout the whole episode. I'm sure it's hard as fuck tho when Tom speaks at a lower tone while Bert either makes siren noises, talks low or slightly yells in every sentence
