hi Naomi! swedish person here! Both "dammsugare" and "polly" have arrak in them, which is a type of brandy or schnapps so to speak, us swedes love alcohol :D Also the pickles you bought are called "salladsgurka" or "sötgurka" which literally means sweet cucumber. You are supposed to put them either on a sandwitch with liver paste or on cheese! You can also eat them on the side of some swedish stews, one in perticular is called "kalops" which is meat based, a classic. Ikea is ofc very popular in sweden, but Ikea meatballs are nothing like the home made ones. I hope you can come to sweden soon, id love to see you there! ^^

Swede here! The green pastries are called damsugare (vacuum cleaner) because at bakeries they would mix up all day old pastries they didn’t sell and put arak (an alcoholic drink) in it to moisturise and flavour the “dough”. They are decorated to look like old vacuums since they “cleaned up” whatever was left over in the bakery 🟫🟩🟫

Sounds a bit like Rumkugeln (translates to rum balls) my mom makes when its Christmastime. But she uses old cookies (mostly from last Christmas xd) and chocolate for it. Fun seeing you rate the IKEA-food, especially when I'm swedish :) The pastry with almond paste is actually called "dammsugare" and can be translated as vacuumcleaner... I think it's called that because bakers used "leftover" cakes and stuff to make the paste inside, to then wrap them around in marzipan and dip the sides in chocolate.

Hey Naomi, this is gonna sound so random but I recently rewatched one of your videos where you get a piercing and it seemed like you were getting a little faint when recovering, this happens to me from time to time. What really helps me is hydrating (coconut water seems to help me more than regular water), laying down and there are a few muscle exercises where tensing leg and arm muscles in a sitting position can help circulation. It can be really scary to feel that way. This is just what works for me. Anyway, random moment of really late concern from me. Take care! Love your channel.

As a swede I love the food at IKEA, especially the meatballs! But I can imagine it is a little bit different in different countries. Also the almond pastry are with arrak and are very loved here, we call them "dammsugare" which means vacuum cleaner (or literally translated vacuum is dust sucker, damm-dust sugare-sucker).

Quite surprised the meatballs are served with green peas and not lingonberry jam in Germany ! I thought the jam was a fixed staple at every Ikea store worldwide but guess not 😅

can only recommend ikea furniture :D when i moved i bought stuff from german , austrian and swedish furtniture stores and let me tell you the people at ikea who design the stuff are NEXT LVL assembling ikea stuff was actuall fun and not a borderline breakdown situation like furniture from mömax xD

Regarding the pickles, we have 2 kinds in Sweden. The sweeter ones are also called "smörgåsgurka" (directly translates to sandwich cucumber 😅) and we commonly add those to sandwiches with liver paté. But we have regular pickles as well 😅 the green pastry in Sweden is called dammsugare (vacum cleaner 😅) where the green stuff is marzipan. The filling I'm not sure what's in it but it's good ❤️

13:18 Those pastries are called "Dammsugare" in swedish which is vaccum cleaner lol. I think its because they used to take all the crumbs from cookies or pastries and make it into a pastry with chocolate and marzipan. And they also look like old vacuum cleaners. (im swedish)

IKEA is really popular here in the UK, I love the vegan not-meat balls and vegan hotdogs. I bought that exact same rug for my kitchen ❤️ love you guys ⭐️ BTW, we have exactly the same food as your IKEA 🌟

Strange how you could be living anywhere in the world and yet have similar growing up experiences if you went to IKEA as a child lol. You didn't have it in the video but I remember getting their lingonberry sauce with the meatballs and fries and it was a heavenly experience. Also weirdly enough, their pumpkin spiced latte at the café is lowkey better than Starbucks.......???

"Dessert sauce" (vla) is really popular in NL, and we also just eat it ✨raw✨, or with little chocolate balls! Also comes in different flavours, so it's worth a try if you ever visit the Netherlands 🤤

I laughed at the 'pastry with almond paste'. Those are very dutch. They're called 'bokkenpootjes'. We don't sell green onces though, just regular marzipan colour. Edit: I mixed them up with a similar looking pastry. They're not 'bokkenpootjes', but 'mergpijpjes'. The reason I mixed them up: I dislike both, so I haven't seen them for a long time xD.

I used to get Princess Cakes every time I went. 🤤 It was sponge cake with a layer of jam and a dome of whipped cream covered in a thin layer of marzipan. They were sooooo delicious! But after COVID, they stopped serving them at the IKEA near me. ☹️ Now I can only get them frozen and they’re just not the same.
