I think people are underestimating the glaring weaknesses of Shaq's game. The one time Shaq's Lakers teams even faced a semblance of a modern team - i.e the 2002 Kings - they were getting exposed. The '02 Kings ran those double high post sets with Webber/Divac, and Mike Bibby was destroying LA with long 20 footers, which would be 3-pointers today. 2 years later, Chauncey Billups completely broke that Lakers dynasty down to shreds.

Shaq is arguably the only player who would dominate any era. There was nothing that could stop him then or since. Fools say “but Hakeem” 😂😂😂 Hakeem was in his prime. He could be Orlando Shaq and be faster and more agile. Shaq was also a good passer despite what his assist numbers suggest. 9/10 when he got the ball the best play was for him to make a move rather than pass. You can't tell me these greats wouldn't practice for the game as it currently exists. They wouldn't be the same players. But in terms of plug and play, Mcgrady and Carter are both good candidates since they already shot 3s in addition to having their playmaking ability and ability to slash and drive.

Doesn't have to be Superstars. It has role players and stars/starters who games would fit really well in this era: Arvdas Sabonis, Peja, Derrick Coleman, Sam Perkins. As for Shaq, players like Giannis and Rudy Golbert are doing great in this era, so the narrative that Shaq can't defend the pick and toll screen at the 3 point arch is false. Shaq would dominate the way he dominated in his era.

Shaq will change the style of ball. You would need someone to handle him and you probably wouldn’t want your star defending him. That physical play would change the way Jokic and Embid think about life.

I don’t think ppl talk about the defensive side of this era. Yea shaq can average 35+ but he will also have to guard crazy pick and rolls. Which he wasn’t great at. He has to go out to the three point line to guard someone which isn’t that easy. Drop that exact shaq into this era. He would have trouble defensively, so he would possibly be a hacker

Shaq couldn’t play the way he played plus he gon have to play the stretch for the three. Then they gon keep sending him to the free throw line. If they can’t hack a shaq then that’s different. He gon dominate on points, rebounds, and blocks. Dude can’t shoot though. I’m torn because what made shaq so dominant then would get him fouled out and even suspended.
@Corndogg3166 ай бұрын
But how many points would Shaq give up tho? He guarding KP? He guarding Wemby? It goes both ways. You would be trading dunks for 3’s

@@TheMaddBlackMann high screen pick and roll. Shaq would get targeted and he would have to come up and show at the 3pt line compared to his era where he can sag off into the paint. Even on inside the nba shaq gets roasted for never playing defense in pick and roll
@TheMaddBlackMann6 ай бұрын
@@Valorant_Dem0n97 not true. On offense he would foul those same pick and pop guys out or he getting 50 on 90 percent shooting. Also fouls would slow the game down. Kobe would be at the line all day because you had to foul Shaq.

Shaq would literally change the way teams are constructed. Shaq had to battle tons of physically big men back in the day. Who in the league today could even attempt to guard Shaq today.
