I hope you guys enjoy the video. Here are all the studies discussed: 1. “Flaxseed contains about 75-800 times more lignans than cereal grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables” www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4375225/ 2. Lignans increase levels of the female sex hormone Estrogen www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10325492 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17301257 3. Lignans increase levels of sex hormone-binding globulin or shbg www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8594308 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2826899 4. 2 tablespoons of flax seeds were given to 40 male participants for only a month and their testosterone levels drop by around 10 percent www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19064574 5. A woman who had high testosterone levels ate 30 grams of flaxseeds per day for 4 months. After doing that her serum testosterone levels dropped by 70% and her free testosterone dropped by 89 percent www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2752973/ 6. 2 tablespoons of flaxseed per day dropped total testosterone in men by around 15% and free testosterone by 20% www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11445478 7. A high omega 6 polyunsaturated fat intake may lower testosterone pdfs.semanticscholar.org/920f/2881316105c3ff1e692ec62b6eb2c0e0ffb9.pdf 8. Researchers looked at how different nutrients influence hormonal health and they found the more dietary fat the participants ate the higher their testosterone was. This was found to be true for their saturated fat intake as well as their monounsaturated fat intake. However, the results were the exact opposite for polyunsaturated fats. The more polyunsaturated fat that the participants ate in relation to their saturated fat intake the lower their testosterone levels dropped. pdfs.semanticscholar.org/920f/2881316105c3ff1e692ec62b6eb2c0e0ffb9.pdf 9. Group number 1: Control group Group number 2: Received 20 grams of peppermint tea > leading to a 25% reduction in testosterone. Group number 3: Received 20Grams of spearmint tea. > leading to a 69% reduction in testosterone. Group number 4: Received 40 grams of spearmint tea. > leading to a 123% reduction in testosterone. The researchers from this study said that it was likely because spearmint and possibly mint in general causes oxidative stress in the hypothalamus resulting in reduced testosterone synthesis in the testes www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2850159 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14520600 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18804513 10. 42 women drank spearmint tea two times a day for 30 days and as a result both free and total testosterone levels dropped significantly www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19585478 11. Alcohol reduces testosterone in a dose-dependent manner www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3593480 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/219455 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/356646 academic.oup.com/biolreprod/article/42/1/55/2764269 12. There's also a strong link between heavy alcohol intake and reduced testosterone levels www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6443186 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10954041 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/894528 13. Drinking half a gram of alcohol per kilogram of body weight or about a quarter of a gram of alcohol per pound of body weight was able to slightly increase testosterone www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17193902 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17349749 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9046385 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19450718 14. Other studies show that even small amounts like two glasses of red wine can lower testosterone by 7 percent. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12711931 15. Exposing isolated rat gonad cells to a modest amount of glycyrrhizic acid significantly blocked testosterone production. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15302514 16. Just 4 days after a group of men were given 7 grams of licorice in the form of candy tablets that contained about half a gram of glycyrrhizic acid; the average testosterone levels drop from 21 to 15.9 nanomoles per liter. See table 1 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15302514 17. Androgen receptors are what male hormones like testosterone and dht bind to for them to be able to have an effect (Muscle growth, puberty, erection etc) www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10868587 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16965913 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18852123 18. Poor thyroid function is linked to impaired hormonal Health and lower testosterone levels. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15142373 20. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of fertility and sterility suggested that soy does not lower testosterone www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19524224 21. There are conflicting studies that do find a negative effect on testosterone from soy. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15735098 22. Trans fatty acids could have severe adverse effects on not only testosterone production but on overall health as well. One reason for this is that trans fats trigger systemic inflammation www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16611951 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15051604 23. Yes, but it’s the conclusions being drawn from this that’s the problem. I doubt many people can say how much of an effect most of this really has. Studies have many limitations and people are trying to connect dots that may not be there.

@@ChicagoJ351 You are drawing conclusions as well, though. Most people aren't going to have problems with their T levels, or consume all of these to begin with so isn't relevant to them to begin with. The video is, however, great information for people who already have legitimate issues producing T and are looking for ways to help with it. Questions for you; have you actually read the studies provided? Are you just making a blanket statement that scientific studies have limitations in relation to actual application of daily life?
@ChicagoJ3513 жыл бұрын
@@blaynegreiner9365 I’m saying clearly that science is self correcting by it’s nature, many studies are needed for conclusions (which may be corrected in the future), and KZbin influencers at times draw conclusions based off what they claim is the research. If dots are connected by influencers, this is a problem. Even if they quote research, it still can be misinterpreted. It’s the conclusions people claim that can be problematic.

4:57 you cant have 123% lower levels, 100% is the max and the starting value is which you compare to, not the finishing.123% higher doesnt equal 123% lower from the other perspective.
@michaelheliotis52792 жыл бұрын
Cool story, but that's not how controls work. A 123% reduction means that it went below the lowest baseline. If the baseline is 20 and the rat normally produces 100, the tea makes him produce less than the 20 which was the control number. Most experiments have control numbers and present data in relation to them. It's called science.

I started working out from day one this year because Im tired of being a bad looking fat guy. Im still making a lot of mistakes. My snack changed from potato chips to tofu and chicken breast the days I cannot get to over 100 protein. As Im living in Japan sometimes you can struggle to get good quality protein as it could be pricey. As Im still starting anything I do will look as an improvement because of newbie growth, but Ill keep for now doing so as I got to get off 3 kg and my muscles are growing quite nicely. Max, and everyone running this channel, you guys are great. There is little truth worthy fitness channels out there and you guys are one of the really little few that I didnt felt tricked or found out you were lying. Interesting point about Flax seeds. Dr Greger ('How Not to die' ) recommends flaxseeds as a means to counter prostate issues. I started using flax seeds on cereal and I noticed a decrease in energy and what I assume to be my testosterone levels. Flaxseeds may help in one area, but don't help in other areas....

I put grounded flaxseeds in my oatmeal every morning. I never noticed anything. It is a good source of omega 3 and fiber. I also had 3 cups home made soy milk per day. I was just fine. High sex drive, knocked up a girl multiple times. And I was able to do 13 dead hang pull-ups. After two years of pandemic without hitting the gym, I am down to 4 pull-ups and I could not get organic soy beans here any more. Flax seeds are still in my oatmeal though. I’d say these little things do not make any major difference. Keep up with the workout routine is the key.

If you have prostate issues, you almost certainly have too much testosterone. So, flax seeds would help if they reduce testosterone, which the research says they do. Makes total sense.

I love that the articles you link are like these foods help lower your risk of prostate cancers. I think having a little more estrogen wouldn't hurt if it meant that you didn't die of prostate cancer. Not only that but estradiol is natural in men as well and the normal range of estradiol would surprise you. I think you would have to eat a metric ton of flax seeds etc. to create anything negative on your health.
@jeelianbb64052 жыл бұрын
I'm late here but the link between flaxseeds and low testosterone is complete bs, if you look at the study he cites, it's a study of men with prostate cancer The control group (the group not taking anything) showed a GREATER drop in testosterone than the group taking flaxseed suggesting flaxseed may have a POSITIVE effect on testosterone He is literally using studies that conflict his points of view

OK so wanna share something about Soy with everything. I take about 30g of soy every alternate day and not on Sunday. My test level I checked was 686ng/dL so I can guarantee that if you keep it low, you'll not have negative impact on your test. But I didn't tried on higher side of soy. So I would say 30g soy every alternate day is on the safer side and would not effect your testosterone. Peace. Like if you found my study on myself helpful :)

How do you lower a certain level by 123% ? Maybe first 100% testosteron to 0, then increase estrogen by some amount?

I was just about to make a similar comment. The only explanation is that there is something called "anti-testosterone" and by "reducing the level of testosterone by 123%" means exactly this: 1) you reduce the level of "positive-testosterone" by full 100%. Until here, everything is ok. 2) since this moment you start to increase the level of the "anti-testosterone" and when you have done it, the level of such a ***** will be 23%. Of course the positive-testosteron and the negative-testosterone have the same units, right? Like μg, let's say .. but wait a moment, or is it -μg in the other case? I mean, seriously, do not flap with "science" until you get your elementary school mathematics straight. Thank you!

can you make a video explaining the concept of egg yolks and cholesterol, some say it is bad other say it is good. I raised both hdl and ldl cholesterol so idk if so how much mg of cholesterol from egg yolks do you recommend.
@Rakesh_Khanna4 жыл бұрын
usually 3 whole eggs per day are recommended, anything more than that can raise your ldl cholesterol if you're having them on a daily basis for a longer period of time
@monokumannius45224 жыл бұрын
You can eat from 3-6 eggs a day. Ldl cholesterol isnt a good marker for heart disease. Trig and HDL are. You must have a good trig/HDL value. Value below 2 is good enough but better for it to be much lower. For me, it is around 0.4 due to high consumption of fat everyday.
