Where are you from?
- I am from Bavaria, hence my accent. :)
Why Miss Anglophilia?
- At the age of ten, I had my first encounter with the English language at school. My teacher never tired of telling us inspirational stories about culture “on the island”. And that was it - I fell in love with it all! So Miss Anglophilia is me and it has been for many years.
Is this just about England?
- As for me, it all started with England which we were taught a lot about at school. I was lucky enough to live in England for a little while during my university years. There, I got to know many lovely people - not only English, but also Scottish, Welsh and Irish. So for me, “anglophilia” doesn’t stop at the English borders.
What does "Servus" mean?
- It's a Bavarian word used to greet people that you know and like. :)

We used to carve turnips in Ireland as a child (I'm only in my 30s)! Thanks for recognizing the Irish origins!

Wir feiern ja kein Halloween hier. Aber hier im Norden Luxemburgs, wurden frühen auch Rüben ausgehöhlt und auf die Friedhofmauern oder neben den Ställen aufgestellt. Dieses Fest heisst hier "Traulicht". Es gibt mehrere Dörfer, welche diese Tradition wieder aufleben lassen, um dem Halloween Gedöns entgegenzuwirken. Sehr schönes Video und tolle Geschichte 🥰

Ja, hier ist es eigentlich auch nicht Tradition, aber es setzt sich immer mehr durch. Ich bin auch kein Fan davon, wenn Kinder im Finstern rumlaufen und Süßigkeiten erbetteln! Die armen Zähne, haha! Schön, wenn bei euch die alte Tradition wieder aufleben darf!

Turnips look WAY too hard to carve! I would sliced my finger off for sure

Yes, they are quite hard to carve and you have to be really careful. But I like the way they look. :-)
