But as ugly as she is a person I can't deny that the lyrics on Badlands still hold up. Even as a Halsey fan I mostly agree with this. There was no need to completely throw shade at another person for no absolute reason. Halsey's a good example of separating art from the artist. I liked her songs on Badlands, mostly, they were harmless fun. Her stage shows and attitude are pretty bad however, she has to grow up a lot. I sort of took pity on her for personal problems (miscarriage on stage apparently?) however that doesn't give you a "throwin' people under the bus" pass.

Do you guys live in America? Not trying to be an asshole just curious. Afaik it has a pretty bad connotation in general in this country. It's mostly used by people like out of touch old advertising executives to refer to a broad Black demographic that will all go out and see Tyler Perry movies for example. While I do see and acknowledge the points you made in this video, I believe that Halsey is alternative in a sense. The production of her tracks are generally not much different from other pop artists BUT where she is different is in her lyrics. I find most of her lyrical content to differ from the standard pop musician. She adds elements of fantasy and science fiction, especially the concept behind Badlands and several songs from that album, "Gasoline" being an example. Also the way her lyrics are written are more poetic in a way. She uses more metaphors and descriptive words, if that makes sense. Like I said, I don't necessarily disagree with what you have to say, I just thought I'd offer my two cents.
