I feel Kristian, Gustav, and Jan have all changed triathlon on the course, but Lionel has changed it off the course. He's pulled back the veil behind the scenes of a day to day pro triathlete and really has made the marketability of a triathlete exponentially better. All the other pros with KZbin channels are because of him. Maybe he won't leave his mark as a world champion but he definitely has left his mark and legacy in other ways

He is Michael Jordan (until 2022) and Conor McGregor (2023 onwards) of triathlon.

And in the races where he is in the mix, he has an uncanny ability to consistently finish the races in dramatic style. I don't think he is the greatest triathlete in the world compared to the competition, but I 100% believe him to be the greatest 'racer'.

“If that’s your self worth….” In reference to winning….that’s exactly why people are out there doping. They will do anything to win. It’s not about pushing yourself, it’s not about exceeding what you thought was your limit. It’s only about getting that one spot on the podium and that’s what defines them. Even if no one ever finds out they doped *they* will always know and that’s why they continue doing it. Because it’s never enough.

Lionel seems to 'discover' knowledge that has been available for, what, a decade? Allen, Scott, Van Lierde, Reid, going back 20 to 30 years front pack swimming has been necessary other than in an occasional race. So when is he going to 'fix the swim'? Regarding training, nothing is new since a paperback book on nordic racing published about 40 years ago.
