That’s not true, English & Dutch are the prettiest and most perfect and the best languages ever, tho Irish is also pretty, as are the other 5 Celtic languages and all other Germanic languages, so I am learning all those languages, and love only exists for me the only lovable / loved being, such terms cannot be misused by ppl, and pronouns cannot be with capital letter when referring to oneself or others - anyways, if Irish was English is correct, and logically it makes a lot more sense than saying if Irish were English, which is just the subjunctive mode, and not everyone uses the subjunctive mode, pfff!

I love your channel. I'm half Irish/English born in England. My Mums side are from Cork. I'm teaching myself Irish and it's starting to come together. The 'Buntús Cainte' books and CDs are great also. You saying 'it's not a race' and 'speak it and it will live' is very helpful and inspiring in itself! GRMA

Go raibh maith agat as an gcabhair agus an inspioráid foghlama. Rugadh i Sasana mé d'athair Sasanach agus do mháthair Éireannach. (I hope I got that right lol) I always loved going to Ireland to see my family in Newry and Belfast, always feel more at home there than in the south of England where I live now. I love the culture, music, landscape and people and have always wanted to learn the language. Now I am starting this journey I'm loving the language as well!

Is maith liom Gaeilge í mo Chroí. Your videos are always fun and I like that because learning Irish at School in the 1980's in the North wasn't fun at all. But I returned to study after a few years when I left school as I have always loved our language. Keep up the great work 👍 👏

Sometimes Irish people, especially the Irish that’s living in Ireland, need to remember that there are hundreds of millions of people with Irish ancestry, and many of them were raised with stories about their ancestors and culture. I mean it’s crazy that a little island with a couple million people could spawn that much, but it’s true. So I imagine there is a big interest especially since the language it’s so important to the cultures survival

I think it can be hard for people to believe considering that there are many people in Ireland itself who aren’t interested in the language. Especially if you grow up in an English-speaking community, you aren’t as exposed to the world of Gaeilge that exists.

@ true. But realize that what you’re doing is invaluable because people want a sense of history, and language can be the quickest way to connect with that history. I am 100% Irish, grew up knowing that with a big Irish family, took a DNA test, and the only circle that showed up was over Ireland (that was beautiful and a little bizarre at the same time lol). For me, my whole people come from there, they look incredibly so, in fact our eyebrows are the same maybe we’re related 😂😂 But I find myself being drawn to trying to learn the language the only setback is where I live I would have very few people to speak with that I know I would have to go out and find some.

Nah, videos aren’t great, only some languages are! But anyways, it should have both English and Irish subs hardcoded, especially when speaking in Irish! And, if Irish was English is correct, and logically it makes a lot more sense than saying if Irish were English, which is just the subjunctive mode, and not everyone uses the subjunctive mode, pfff!

Do kids learn Gaeilge in school or do they learn it from their parents maybe? Do they speak Gaeilge or English in your parlament ?
Жыл бұрын
Yes kids learn Irish at school, it’s mandatory. I talk more about this in part 1 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3-cmourdsemoMk Outside of the Gaeltacht regions, it wouldn’t be common for parents to speak Irish to their children but that’s not to say that they’re aren’t any.
