Understanding the context of the Bible is very important, I do not doubt that. But the average Christian is not completely educated. Every Christian does not have a calling to attend seminary. A new Christian man who is called to carving wood is not going to have a vast knowledge of Biblical nuances. He cannot comprehend the kind of knowledge you are teaching. He is given a Bible. That is what makes the relationship between God and man so special and amazing. It can be simple, and also have immense depth. The words in the Bible speak to the uneducated man. If God can suddenly not reveal himself fully to someone because of their lack of knowledge, or because he can’t properly read the miss translated and warped idea of the Bible, then why does God say that he loves everyone and all things, and he can reach every human being by the Holy Spirit? How can this man understand any part of who Jesus is? Why hasn’t God presented something to this man that he can understand and grasp in his simple and hard life? You might say that is why we have teachers? But then because he is uneducated, because he has a different calling, he cannot himself have a personal, mostly unfaltering, and proper relationship with Christ. How is he to dwell in comfort and in Gods presence from the loving verses that flow through the Bible. Now, because you are a Universalist, you might say, ‘But this man will be saved, even if he doesn’t know Christ, because Jesus saves everyone.’ My response to this is, then why are we on Earth. This man does not grow in his faith, and his relationship with God. He has not learned how to develop as a Christian. I am still in the middle of thought when it comes to Universalism, but to say that the Bible is only a very complex entity that is difficult to understand expect when very well educated, I would have to respectfully disagree. I do however agree that the Bible can become an idol.

Mr. tent maker, I want to follow Jesus as I try to do every day. I want to witness the truth but I find that most churches seen to have parts of the truth but not all. I honestly believe no church has the full truth. I attend a Church Of Christ and while I believe they follow most of the truth I believe they see some things wrong. I just can't see god turning away from those that trust in Jesus but are not physically baptised but what do you say for the versus that say that one must beleive,repent and be baptised? Why would a loving god torture people in a fiery hell for eternity and how can he live with that? I am torn and these types of questions make me doubt it all together but I believe the holy spirit has spoken to my soul and has turned my eyes to Jesus. Should I continue in the Church Of christ? This is the Church Of my youth and I love the people.

12:07 yes! I've often thought people worship the Bible. Another channel (I believe Robin Parry said it) said it's as if the Bible is the fourth person of the Godhead, and that's spot on in my observations these days.

I'm having a "bible study " at my church and it's led by a book. It makes a point then tells us to go to supporting verses. That isn't studying the Bible to me..That is what cults do! I would think opening the Bible and reading it in context and studying the words .

Thanks for the info--like your channel, I do believe we don't study in depth , we just listen to how we are taught, The concept of hell I believe in is what Swedenborg experienced when he had experiences in and out of heaven and hell, there is the outer darkness but no one is forced or thrown there, we all come into a neutral space, between heaven and hell....we gravitate toward our love, whether that be good or bad, light and love, or darkness........we go toward our love-----birds of a feather flock together.....

There are two "words" of God... the Logos and the rhema. The logos is Jesus, the mind of God, the essence of His wisdom and intellect. The rhema is the spoken, quickened word of God. The word that speaks to your soul. The word FROM God TO you. I believe Jesus is the LOGOS and the word of God spoken to our spirit is Jesus' RHEMA for us uniquely. Assuming it aligns with the revealed Scriptures. It cannot contradict the revealed nature of God in Jesus, and for that we seek the God-inspired Scriptures ABOUT Jesus.

I am thinking about what the collective world would be/do if they all suddenly bought into universal salvation. it would seem that no one would then feel the need to repent. opengates777 Biblical study is like any other study. Everyone has there own area of expertise. People spend years researching specific areas and developing ideas. So, it is very valuable sharing in other people's (like L Ray Smith and Gary Amirault) understanding - and being able to question it. Basically - don't dismiss a fellow researcher so brasingly. Biblical study and listening to other people's understanding are not mutually exclusive

jamie Russell it is very much in line with the scripture. check out his site "tentmaker.org", it's full of articles that go through all the scriptures and verses supporting universal salvation and the ones that have been twisted to sound like they teach eternal damnation. theirs even an article about annihilationism called "eternal death, one step out of hell, one step short of God's glory". i think you will find the truth in what he say. i myself am bless to have a grandmother who knows Greek and can verify much of what he says. she is going to through the NT with me in the original Greek. Neither eternal torment nor eternal seperation in a proper translation. The people that are not saved in this life will go through a corrective chastisement. I would recommend concordant literal translation new testament hardcover to get to this truth. Eternal life does not start until after the consumation of the eons. The consumation of the eons happen's after the eons of eons in revelation's 20:10.

That's why all cultures have a "great flood" at roughly the same time period. That's why they have found NOAHS ARK in turkey. Ever heard of the shroud of Turin? It's got a human form embedded on it. Nothing aside from strong radiation can do. It's believed to be the shroud that covered Christ's body. That's why we have thousands... if not hundreds of thousands of early church fathers, saints and believers who were fed to lions, burned alive, crucified. All for a myth. Hi Tentmaker, Love your way of trying to show the true interpretation of the Word. I however do take the Word literally and still don't see eternal suffering in the Word. Context defines the Word when you understand the things that happened in the beginning. The Bible does talk of the lake of fire and beings being cast into it. But it is not human beings. It is for the Devil and his angels. I am interested to know how you feel about the salvation of angels and if you believe in the Book 1 Enoch.

I agree, if we would literally follow the Bible, word for word, Scripture by Scripture, then even the best, most righteous of us will fail in no time. It is just impossible for any of us to live a perfect live that's in accordance with the Word all the time. It's one thing to live a perfect life at any given second or minute but it's another thing to maintain it for hours, weeks, let alone months and years.

I appreciate your time, and if you are right, then I am also. My concern is you take verses out of what you call " an idol", and say they mean exactly what they say, and then say that taking the Bible, ( or idol, as you call it) literally is not the way to read it. Sounds to me like you put yourself above the Bible,( or idol, as you call it), so I am afraid that according to Galatians I would have to say you are accursed. Galatians 1:6-10. But I'm sure that doesn't bother you, since this (idol, your words, not mine), does not mean what it says,... That is unless you deem it to mean what it says.
