How To Cloud - Guide + Tutorial | Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate guides and tutorials are all over the place for Competitive Smash. Today I wanted to help out Beginner or Intermediate Smash Ultimate players learn how to use new characters and improve at the game!
I know a lot of people don't know how to use every part of a character like Cloud in Smash 5 so I wanted to go over that today in this competitive tutorial.

Yeah but Bowser is combo city. Try edge guarding him or spike him with Fair.

Hi. Not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but in your opinion, which would be better to play, Roy or Cloud and why? I'm very torn between the two, since I find them both equally fun, but I'm not sure which would be better to actually main. Right away, I know Roy has the better recovery and Edgeguarding potential, but I also find Cloud's juggling/combos much easier to execute, as well I like his Aerials slightly better, especially his style of dair. But at the end of the day, it's only marginal. So as someone with more experience in Smash, what are your thoughts? Again, I get it if you can't answer effectively, just figured I'd ask anyway. :)

Clouds edge guarding potential is pretty good. Also his ledge trapping is a nightmare to deal with. Id go with Cloud

Roy can cover up cloud’s bad matchups and cloud can cover up Roy’s bad matchups. I personally had to choose between cloud and Roy, but I chose cloud because since he has more range to play with, he can play more he can play more aggressively without really getting punished

He's high tier I'd say. He has some trouble killing, but if you make good use of limit this is somewhat mitigated. His real problem is how powerless he is in disadvantage. While trying to recover his only threat is that he could use his suicide spike to trade stocks, however against some characters they are able to recover, and Cloud almost always dies first.

Same here man.. but from looking T the video.. I think he is using 2 jump buttons the doing the "fowrad air" with quick fall.. I'm going to test this once I get to my Nintendo switch.. which is in my car which is covered in snow which I don't feel like messing with right now.. 🤣🤣🤣

Wow can we practice together? I could watch your handling of Cloud till the cows come home but they ain’t gonna come home with mad skills 😅 the way you short hop is crazy and I have a hard time ALWAYS doing it. You whip Cloud around in a way that gets me so pumped because even though he’s nerfed and buffed since 4 and all these hardcore smash fans hated on anyone using him last time( socially awkward pedophiles hate any true hero 😂) NOW I can use him and have a sense of pride in one of my favorite FF characters living legacies (Zack Fair!) wish they had put him in lol

@@JoeKSmashBros I'm gonna put this here to keep my vitriol contained because my goal isn't for everyone to see this. Your optimism and everyone else's optimism about this character who didn't main him in 4 and don't main him now disgust me. He's nerfed to crap......one of the most nerfed characters IN THE HISTORY of fighting games up there with Marvel 3 Sentinel. The ABSOLUTE best Cloud ever can't win at a high level with this character ( Leo) The player with the best spacing ever can't win at a high level with this character and has given him up ( Zero) Cheeks from Texas is the Cloud representative of the world :-( His Nair went from best in game to ALMOST useless His Fair is becoming obsolete ( if you used him in tourney you would know this.) It's so punishable on shield even if your Zero or Leo with their spacing, they can't space this thing and if they are parrying you die. By the way It's the poster move for Parry. His up air as you said is nerfed to crap. He can't approach and people don't have to approach him. He's as gimp able as anyone in the game. He has almost NO combos in a game that thrives on kills on 2 to 4 interactions ( Peach, Pichu ) Those "combos" like you said aren't combos After 30% you got nothing but hopefully getting a read. Kill power is nerfed on ALL moves including limit and forward smash start up is as slow as ever. So when playing Cloud in tourney your looking for offensive back air, defensive back air, ledge trap back air, edge guard back air, tricky and sneaky back air........ And when I say back air I mean connecting at their ankles back air because its.becoming what people expect and it's getting punished too. Its bad.......Leo isn't using him, Zero is dropping him Leffen sampled and dropped him after saying its because all he has is back air.........Tweek of course dropped him...........good old Cheeks......fighting the good fight. Bad times......very bad times. I won't ever drop him but lightning loops, Pillars and build a bear edge guarding with Pichu is so much better. Pichu ( Void, Eon, Nietono, Nakat, Capt L, even Esam) Cloud ( Cheeks) Two really gross comments from a non Cloud main perspective were in the last minute of the video.........."Cloud really isn't that much worse" and " You probably won't need a secondary". I'm VERY interested to here what you think are his good and bad match ups.

@@nianiwhite5052 Clouds nerfs didnt hurt him that bad. He benefits alot from the games mechanics. He still has alot of kill power. The only thing that really sucks now is nair snd fsmash. His limit nerf didnt hurt him that much. Ive gome to locals and my highest placing with cloud is 2nd place

@@hyde7100 His kill power was nerfed across the board........in fact that was one of his biggest nerfs. Like you said f smash is nerfed as far as kill power, probably start up also but I'm not sure. But also down smash kill power was nerfed, down air may not have lost its kill power but it's active frames were nerfed. All of his limit moves have reduced kill power........one of the big jokes out now is that Roy's side B does more damage and kills earlier than limit cross slash. Up air amongst it's other various nerfs seems to have reduced kill power also. I've been getting a lot of work done with Cloud just by running away the entire match charging limit and frustrating the opponent and when they fall into a up tilt or up air NEVER EVER let them down lol. If an up tilt hits there gonna take 1 to 3 more plus 2 or 3 tricky up airs mixed up with fast falls into up tilt and if you can top it off with a up B or a up smash. Even though a up air kill is unlikely now due to the percent at which it kills it helps a lot getting them past that 120% range where something decent like a dash dance into f tilt can kill.

I really want to thumbs up as someone looking to get into Cloud more but you're talking way too fast and half the time I can't understand your terminology, if you're targeting beginners for this guide I'd say work on your jargon translation.
