Damn! That was deep. There's so much to unpack here. 1. Whenever I meet a Haitian sister or brother, before we leave each other's presence, one of us will ask the other "E moun ki bò ou yé?" Basically translates to "where are you from," Don't let them be from the same part! 2. My grandmother used to talk to "herself" all the time when I was younger. Only she wasn't talking to herself she was talking to her mother, her father, my grandfather, and all the other ancestors that were part of her life. 3. One time for Dr. Carr giving us the tea on queen mother Carr in the Social Security office. And shame in that clerk for not staying out of grown folk's business. 4. Condolences to you and yours, Baba Carr.

My condolences… Respect >Fear👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Thanks for having this conversation. I have been allow this subject to marinate, for some time now. Understanding the ways of old and the wisdom I gained from raising my children. I found is RESPECT goes further than FEAR because once they “figure you out” per sia get old enough that they no longer fear, you anymore. You are gonna hope they found the RESPECT for you.
