My friend, in this video we will talk about the main mistakes you make when trying intermittent fasting and the reasons why you can't get rid of fat from your body.
Nowadays there is hardly a person who hasn't heard of intermittent fasting. In fact, it was exactly 5 years ago when I first talked about intermittent fasting on my channel. It's something I've been doing for at least 15 years and at first I didn't even know it had a specific name.
I did it intuitively, as it is the most natural thing to do. Until very recent times our ancestors didn't have a fridge, so it was very common not to eat in the morning or let's say to have long periods of time without even eating anything.
But here I'm not going to talk about all the benefits of fasting, which you may have already heard a lot about, but about the mistakes that may not let you lose weight.
In fact, today I came across a study they did in Saudi Arabia and as a result of this study - of the people who did intermittent fasting, 95 percent of people managed to lose weight.
Some lost more and some less, but you would say if there is something so simple and so efficient there shouldn't be obesity or overweight people in the world.
But maybe you tried it and it didn't work because you made mistakes and that's why you were disappointed with this strategy.
Then a friend of a friend decided to do intermittent fasting. He combined it with some cardio and was starting to see the first results. But because he liked pizza and pasta so much, when the fasting period was over he saw that eating those foods for him would be like a good reward for the effort.
And my friend, first of all you have to understand that intermittent fasting is not a diet, but a pattern of eating. However, the diet itself - yes you have to start taking care of it as well. The fact that you didn't eat doesn't mean that you can now go and stuff yourself with chips. This is simply illogical and counterproductive.
So you'd better learn a little bit about nutrition so you don't take two steps forward, but then take two steps back.
And the second thing is that even if you do intermittent fasting, nobody has cancelled the energy balance in our body. I'm talking about the caloric deficit or surplus. As I explained in the other video, it is practically impossible to calculate and know your calorie expenditure. We're not a car that steadily spends 7 litres of petrol per 100 km. Wait, even a car's fuel consumption varies. And in a human it varies constantly depending on your current metabolism, physical activity, brain activity and all the processes going on in your body.
But my point here is - even if you eat clean - if you have a caloric surplus or if you keep your caloric expenditure more or less in balance, then you won't see great results from fasting either. A lot of people cut out refined carbs and okay - that's fine, but then if they send in a lot of protein - well, you have to look at how many calories are in meat. If you've had enough for dinner, it's obvious that you won't even want to eat breakfast, but the result of this fasting won't be so obvious either. So all this has to be taken into account, my friend.
And speaking of the next thing - maybe one thing that can bore you about intermittent fasting is the idea that you think you have to do it all the time. For example, I think it's more sustainable in the long term to alternate and do it when you feel like it. That's what I do, I don't do it absolutely every day. Maybe when I notice that I've put on a bit of fat, then I can do it more often; even so, it's not every day of the week.
And here I'm talking about the easiest way - which is 16 hours without eating with the 8-hour window of eating. It is better to take it as a lifestyle and take it as a necessary way of cleansing the body. If you feel like eating breakfast sometime, eat breakfast, but always knowing that you can resort to this tool that works every time.
And the next thing to think about is - OK, I'm doing intermittent fasting and this should give me results. You can actually combine intermittent fasting with the other strategies and it will be even more powerful. For example, as I explained in the recent video, some specific types of cardio will boost your results a lot. Or just talking about food, you can combine intermittent fasting with the keto diet. You can not eat for a while and then you can eat no carbs or very little carbs, but definitely no processed carbs. I see this very well.
