Eighties girl here. We used toothbrushes to brush our eyebrows up. Charlie perfume was our poison of choice. We used the thin barreled curling iron to make tight curled bangs but the rest of our hair was permed and frosted. We were taught that eyeshadow had to be layered in threes. One color for the lid, one color for the crease and another color up to the eyebrows. God bless us.

In the 80’s we wore our blush like a stamp in the hollows of our cheeks- in burgundy. We would do our make up at work because that way we could borrow my friend’s Lancôme stash. It looked great in a dark club but I looked like a smacked ass on the train ride from work to home. 😃. Eyeshadow was a blend of lilac and pink with jet black mascara. My hair wasn’t frizzed like a lot of girls but it was set with hot rollers. I made a big old wave out of my bangs and sprayed the shit out of them with a product called Shpritz. It could hold a 3 inch high flip over my forehead until I washed it out the next day. I thought I was hot shit. 😂

Jamie thanks for doing this one! Brought back some embarrassing but also great memories. I graduated in 87 and I swear my senior picture looks just like you! I used enough Aqua Net to ruin the ozone layer single-handedly. The big hair, bright pink blush and the blue shadow was on point! With me and my friends we all used this god awful frosted pink Mary Kay lip gloss. One of their Moms sold it I think. I wish I could post my glamour shots picture on here. It’s atrocious but for some reason the Glamour Shots studio liked mine and posted it in the store. I had no idea until one of my friends saw it and called me. She said “Oh my gosh they have your pic up on the wall!” Like it was a big deal lol. How embarrassing but back then I thought it was so cool.

I was in my 20's and did some modeling all through the eighties. MY DECADE! LOL! A spiral perm made big hair easier for us straight hair gals. Spray your hair with Aqua Net (pink can) while drying upside down. Then lots of teasing and Stiff Stuff or Spritz Forte with blasts from the blow dryer made your hair even BIGGER. Then, more Aqua Net or Focus 21 for the perfect hold. I wore pink shimmer eyeshadow inside corner to brows, and then navy or purple on the outside, fading to black winged up "tips". Usually a shimmery teal under the lower lashes with navy or black lining the waterline. Black or burgundy mascara. Heavy contouring, then yes, a half circle of pink blush up to the temple (but NOT too near the under eyes). Lips were always a pink frost. Perfume of choice was Georgio or Opium. Fashion heavily influenced by Cindy Lauper, Prince, Michael Jackson and Madonna, so layers and neon for hanging out, and lots of lace and pearls for going out. And don't forget the one fingerless lace glove!!! Oh, and I have my own sparkly jacket now!

I was a New Romantic with natural spiral curls. I would use Aqua Net to make it look fuller and bigger. I did my blush in the triangle shape, and then up to the hairline. Eyeshadow tended to be pinks and purples, and I even found a purple shimmering lipstick and eyeshadow combo that I loved! Mascara was either black or electric blue. I wore a lot of lace, and liked pairing men’s suit jackets with my brooches adorning them with a feminine top and either cropped jeans/trousers,or a skirt. I also often stole my dad’s shirts and ties to style up and wear.

Bangs were even bigger where I grew up in SoCal, tho.😬😬 SOOOO cringey now, but we thought we were the shit back then! My Mom (bless her) wanted to emulate Cyndi Lauper’s eye looks, and she began to take the whatever Covergirl eye 4-quad pallet she had, and then ADD more colors to her look. I swear to all that’s holy, my friend came over, muttered under her breath to me “Why does your Mom look like a peacock?!” and I died! No blending! It was like she had done a paint-by-number kit on her eyelids! I felt like dying from embarrassment. Yeah, good times! This was great, thanks for the flashback!

I just started watching your videos last week. This one, "If Beauty KZbinrs Existed in 1987" popped up as a suggestion and I laughed so hard, I've been watching at least one a day, if not 2 since. The "Rouge" ....girl I spit my glass of sweet tea out. Went everywhere. Desk, wall, floor, ceiling. And the accent...You definitely reminded me of my 80's school friend who was from Minnesota and then the bloopers just made me laugh even more when you mention Minnesota. I had to watch this one again today. I don't know how long you've been doing this, but I am so upset that I didn't find you sooner. Thank you for what you do.

Love it! But believe me as a teenager in the 80’s we did not use eyelashes... you just used about 15 coats of mascara... preferably a blue or purple one.😜

Michelle Bartram Navy mascara for sure. If you really wanted righteous lashes you only washed the mascara off once a week and applied at least two heavy coats a day!! Talk about spider lashes by the end of the week🙂

And remember a while back when there was an Instagram trend of everyone sharing their 10 year “glow up” pictures? We need a trend of everyone sharing their old glamour shots lol!

But then people will know how old I am. I like to pretend like the 80's never happened.

Never made it to Glamour Shots. We went the Olan Mills route.
