LG Refrigerator Shelf Adjustment and Removal

Thanks so much for showing me how to remove a shelf for re positioning. We just got our new LG 2023 French Door fridge for our downstairs excess food storage. We have an LG upstairs, with a different shelf design. By watching the video (not found in printed manual), all I had to do was lift up the back of the glass and slide. If you didn't lift the back portion, the shelf was solidly in place.

Thank you so much after 2.5 years I have learnt to remove my fridge shelves. I remember cracking the plastic from one of the trays the first time I was cleaning it and from there onwards I never tried removing it.

so I finally had the time to mess with the glass above the crispers. I pulled out the 2 crispers, then I pulled out the whole unit with the glass very carefully and the glass popped up, so I cleaned all the sticky stuff and now my fridge looks brand new. took me about 20 minutes

@@CGC1949 you do not need a video, just remove the 2 drawers, pull them out, then pour some water on the glass, then from the bottom of the glass push up the glass and clean very easy

I like my LG refrigerator fairly well, except for the one problem with the shelves that is absolutely awful which is that the shelves are impossible to remove!!!!!! The next time I buy a refrigerator I’m going to open up the floor model and make sure that the shelves are removable because this is a big problem.

Sadly my LG fridge shelves are in different type of mountings. I haven't been able to remove and lower the top shelf. It is a gorgeous looking fridge though.

Love my LG,bought it Dec 2021,but adjusting the shelves is a nightmare! I really don't want to unload fridge to fiddle with shelves. I moved a shelf,now I can't get it back in. Suggestions?

I have one area that can't be accessed (by me) to clean. The rail right across the 3 slidable bins that is adjacent to the drop in glass is made of two layers of plastic that suck up fluids. There seems to be no way to get at it.

@@jenniepenner3060 No- the repairman was here and I didn't go there with him. If I attacked the plastic clip areas with the right tool, I could probably work the pieces apart, but I don't want to break those pieces accidentally by applying too much force.

Plastic is cracky. That very bottom shelf above the "glide and serve" drawer is hard to clean. DOes it open up somehow?

I have figured out how to remove every shelf, including the frame which holds the veggie bins--which was a bit of a challenge. It involved tipping it in a way I can't fully describe. All glass comes out. The only thing I didn't try to remove was the clear plastic in that frame which is between the veggie bins and the long bottom drawer. I think you could if you were careful, but I didn't need to, so I didn't even try. Good luck folks. Just be gentle and don't try to force things.

Anyone have issues with cleaning inside the crisper or deli drawer? I was finally able to clean by filling my sink 1/2 way and use my kitchen sprayer to flood the tiny area of debris, I’m a gardener and I let a few veggies go bad- what a hard time I even though of dental floss- but soaking and Swishing the drawers got everything very clean. Hopefully it will help someone.

There isn't a way to remove shelf above vegetables & fruit drawers. Glass has spillage under and around white area. Looks terrible!!!!!

Yes, they are trying to make cleaning look super easy, so people keep buying the fridge. 🙄🙄 Small bits of this fridge are impossible to clean 100%. 🙄🙄

Okay. So I pried the difficult pieces apart with a butter-knife very, VERY gently and just a little bit, while running the fridge drawer under water to dislodge the bits and pieces of food caught between the plastic. Very gently. And it worked. Fridge looks like new.

@@ashleyw.6702 yes, that's what we had to do. First, let me say, that I find the parts are difficult to dislodge because of grime along the sides of the shelves. If you loosen the grime, then the parts remove easier. That last try we are discussing was the most difficult. My husband (after loosening the grime) tilted it upward on the front of the shelf and then outward. The small plastic panel that covers the front of the slide and glide drawer was really dirty. My husband gently pried all the clips underneath upward and slipped if off. It took some fenagling because of a sticky mess that was holding it in place. You really need to be careful not to snap off the clips. This was the only shelf that was giving me difficulty. The others were easy to remove. I commented above about cleaning the glass on the shelves. Again, loosen the sticky mess that's along the edge of the glass, then (after removing the drawers), gently push up from underneath with two hands to keep the pressure even. Be careful not to wash the cold glass with hot water or you may crack it.

I forgot to add that as you lift the glass, tip it slightly toward the back and pull toward you to remove. The back edge tucks a little under the back edge of the shelf to hold it in place.

After I poured water on the shelf and it loosend whatever was holding it on, then wiped it up, the shelf came up! Scared me to death. Got it back on! Should be easier!

The damn shelf cannot be cleaned, if you have gunk between the glass and the frame the glass cannot be removed for thorough clean. WTF peculiar design of the century, how did they assembled it in the factory? Did they mold the fucking frame around the glass plate directly??

I can get most of the glass out, including on the frame above the veggie bins. That frame/shelf, however seems to be not removable and I am not sure about the middle class between the 2 veggie bins and the lowest big drawer.

@@madzillah The glass in the upper shelfs cannot be removed. I soaked the shelf in hot water to 100% clean it. If you get hydrophobic gunk just soak the shelf in warm cooking oil first.

@@doodi20 The glass above crispers in my fridge are literally "above" crispers, there is nothing blocking its removal. But the shelves in upper levels are hard moulded in plastic frame, no way to remove them. Good for you, but my guess is LG fridge have different kinks depends on the model, anyway, I'm buying domestic brand next time.
