Robert you are truly an amazing young man. I have been watching your videos for awhile now. My family came to Georgia with Oglethorpe and moved on to TN to avoid the Trail of Tears. My question is, are there no cemetery revival groups there to help you in your efforts to save these cemeteries. I live in MI and we have groups within each county that trim the undergrowth and restore broken headstones and do basic upkeep. They document every grave best they can. While you are an admirable man, you need help.

@@l.m.2404 You might have abandoned graves in your own backyard, so to speak, that has been lost out in the woods. I live in northeast Georgia and Robert has me watching out for cemeteries in the woods especially during winter when most of the brush has died back and leaves carpet the ground to inhibit growth of briar and other brush. I'm pretty sure every state in the Union has forgotten cemeteries. I use old topo maps to find marked cemeteries and go and try to find them if I can't find references to them on FindAGrave. I'm off to go gravestone hunting in a local cemetery to get photos of headstones for FindAGrave, found about 50 so far not captured.

About 4 years ago I managed to convince several relatives to join me in cleaning off the overgrowth, filling in sunken graves, resetting headstones and repairing fences. I did a little investigation into it ,at first I thought it was a old Indian burial ground.but after asking around with some folks much older than me,I learned it was the burying ground for slaves ,years ago.i have never shown the site to anyone except my youngest son .it's near a fire trail ,and I figured if folks knew about it they be digging and pilfering around in these folks final resting place.its a beautiful stand of hickory in a mountain ,with a small creek nearby.and it's a excellent place to get a mess of squirrels for supper .
