Do not fear your intrusive thoughts - they exist because they’re the last thing you’d want to act out. Simply look at them as laughable little thoughts they’ve been randomly configured in your mind - maybe you had the absolutely random image or thought of hurting or even killing, yourself, someone you love, or someone innocent on the street. Because you’re an interoceptive person, you’re inclined to believe this means something. We all have random and disturbing thoughts run through the river of our attention - it’s only when we pay far too much attention and think they mean something that we lose our peace over them. Exposing yourself to these thoughts, sitting with them, writing them down, and speaking them aloud, over time will help you to realize just how silly and outrageous they are. And precisely when you stop trying to run from them, they begin to fade. Your brain noticed it doesn’t scare you - and registers that it must not be a threat. You all will get better, soon. Trust me on that 🙏🏽❤️

I needed this. These past few weeks have been hell, I'm fighting what feels like shadows in my own mind. Nothing is real and yet it all feels like it's coming out to kill me. I haven't meditated in weeks, and this gave me a moment of peace. To be validated in my worry and distracted nature felt really reassuring and lifted a burden off me, even if just for half a minute. I'll definitely be coming back to this, thank you

As someone who has intrusive thoughts, and earlier it was much worse, firstly I dealt with that thoughts with help of other people, and my own logic too, why it's not gonna happen, or why it's just an illusion, then what will I do if that happens, and so. In case of some my resentments, that bring fear, with help of other people and myself too I took apart my side of those, what was my fault in each of those, what I did wrong and I accepted it. And now I have much less of the thoughts I try to fight. Because I took them and considered them closely, and worked with them they themselves no longer bring me much fear. But I still have fear of having them. And I remind myself everytime - let them be, I cannot control my thoughts, it's the same thing if I tried to control weather and tried to not let bad weather happen. It will happen anyway no matter how much effort I put to not let it. So do I live then in fear that I will fail to not let the bad weather happen, in fear that it will occur? It the same thing if you live in fear that bad thought will occur. It's just a thought of mine, it's completely normal to have my mind giving me any kind of thoughts, any memories, any images. I can't control them I only can try and think about something good, something lightsome, or be in the process, but still not expecting that I will get what I want. I only can try, but the result can be any, I need to let the result to be any. And even if bad thought comes, I don't have to react on it, just a thought, now I have it, now don't, it doesn't define me. My mind doesn't care if I have good emotions or bad, it's just want them, any emotions, any energy, negative or positive, it's me who need to put some effort and try to think of some good things, instead of bad things. And then again do not confuse control with responsibility. Control is when one does something and expects the result to be exactly what he wants, and there comes the fear of not getting it. Responsibility is when you do something, e. g. try to be in the process, or to think about something good, but you let the result be any, you might fail, and still be thinking of some negative thoughts, but gradually, the result will be better and better. You do something and let the Universe decide what the result will be of your actions (or call it chance, or circumstances, or God, if you believe in God), most likely it will be positive, but other options are possible too. You just do what you can. Same goes for everything in life, even for the thoughts of inflamed consciousness

This is the first time I'm seeking out a meditation like this. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for many years. And as hard as those conditions are to live with, I understood the symptoms of them. But as I grew older, I struggled more and more with obsessive thoughts and behavior. It took me a long time to connect it with any one condition, like OCD. I'd keep checking things like stovetop burners or locks on doors. I'd count things out because it felt better to number things. And my thoughts were even worse. I'd think about something over and over until I couldn't get it out of my head. I'd feel negative thoughts spiraling over and over with no control. It's gotten worse these past few weeks. I can't get any mental health care, and I have very few people to talk to. I'd watch movies to distract myself, but I'd get obsessed with the movies and certain actors in them. My mind has become overwhelmed with negative thoughts and feelings. I don't even know who I am anymore. I wouldn't wish an illness like this on anyone. I'm watching this video to get some semblance of peace. I hope I can be helped. I'm scared.

Yes, it's gotten harder for me, too.. I'm isolated without many people to talk to.. I feel better when I'm talking to strangers in the store about absolutely anything.. also, the human exchange reminds me I'm still here.. when my children were home still ,all my thoughts were about their needs..ofcourse, I'd obsess over them with paranoid thoughts. Even if all my thoughts are figured out ,my brain says uh oh let's find something else.. I cried when I turned this on when he simply said what's going on in our head... My thoughts all crashed into a collision, and I heard fuzz or white noise in my head. To many that my brain freaked out, I guess.

I never imagined I'll be here, but here I am. . Intrusive thoughts are making me suffer recently, and I feel extremely guilty over them. I also try to avoid, and even tried dissecting them( which apparently is wrong, its better to not engage them, and let them pass through accdg. to an article I read.) Hoping this will help me bcoz I really feel weirdly uncomfortable, and guilty when it just sneaks up on me or when it pops in my mind, its also starting to take ahold of me which I hate so much, bcoz it comes back too often.

As someone who suffers from ocd this really helped. My mind was trying to focus on the intrusive and make me act on it (perform the task it wanted me to do) but through listening to this meditation I was given guidance in ignoring and suppressing it, to not give it any attention. Thank u so much, sometimes it feels like there is another person inside my mind trying to dictate me but you were there to protect me from them, just for 10 minutes. Allowing them to pass and not giving them attention, not getting entangled with them gives them no power. They will become less and less eventually fade with time. Trust and have faith believe you're already cured. Praying for you and God is always there with you 🙏✨️❤️ supplements that help are ashwagandha, nac, l theanine and inositol. I suffer from intrusive thoughts that in the end, latch onto my lack of self love. This really helped me accept that this part of me who constantly frets and worries. She is not my enemy, but is simply just trying to protect me from the danger I once faced as a child, even if she does more harm than good. She wants to be heard and accepted just as much as my “good” qualities, I just have to find it within me to help guide this part of me so I can reunite myself into one again. Sometimes these thoughts hurt me, but when you are right, they are just nothing. Nothing I can touch or feel or smell, they only exist within my mind and nowhere else.

I have had OCD since I was a kid and I’m now a middle-aged person. From my experience I have found getting the right medication or combination of medication‘s is truly helpful as serotonin and our lack of it I think is a huge reason for the OCD. Add in cognitive behavior therapy and it truly does become controllable. But remember even after being on medication and therapy if you get an intrusive thought it’s more of a lapse in your current recovery as opposed to a true relapse because you can simply start right over where you left off not at the beginning. God bless you and I pray you can recover as I pray for everybody here and myself

Best meditation ive ever come across and will listen to this every day for the rest of my life to remind myself thoughts are just thoughts. My intrustive thoughts latch onto my lack of self-worth that stems from a traumatic childhood. I am in therapy currently and on antidepressants to help calm my flight or fight response back down as its become, like you said in the video "an over-active car alarm". My psychologist and psychiatrist have both diagnosed me with PTSD and OCD. It makes sense. I had tried the natural route for so long though - working out 3 times per week, eating a balanced diet, moving to a less stressful job, (admittedly I was slack on the meditation which I will now change) and got to a point where I needed medical intervention after another big stressor in my life, and there is absolutely no shame in that whatsoever. This meditation is a great place to start and learning not to let the intrusive thoughts rob you of your peace or falsely rob you of your perception of your self - detach yourself from your thoughts because you are not your thoughts. Remember who you are, you are amazing and your thoughts do not define you ❤️ I wish you all peace and be kind to yourselves.

No shame in medication. I’ve been there. Recovery doesn’t need to be one thing. Ultimately it’s everything in the round. It sounds like you’ve been through a great deal. I’m really pleased this has been helping you. These aren’t the most successful meditations in the world but I love that they are reaching the people who need them. Sounds like you’re doing all the right things. Wishing you all the best in your continued recovery 🙂

I have severe health anxiety/ocd. Recently I started to get some depersonalisation as a result of severe stress caused by rumination, some bad news I’ve struggled to process and starting a new job. The depersonalisation causes a rift between me and my memories making me feel as if I observe them through my mind but someone else was present and living them. I had a disturbing intrusive thought the other day saying ‘what if the memories aren’t actually my own and I have split personality disorder’. This thought really took hold and I’ve been obsessing over it since to the point where I’ve convinced myself I have split personality disorder. The ocd mind is truly a wild thing and I’m glad I’ve discovered meditation to help with this foggy and confused hell I’ve been going though.

I found your comment very interesting and thank you for sharing. It truly is scary how our OCD seems to pick the perfect intrusive thoughts to cause the most stress. I also wonder if it’s me causing those thoughts because I also feel like it’s almost a separate person from me.

Have you managed to recover from ocd?
@benharrison9336
@benharrison9336 6 ай бұрын
@@npxtel_ hi, yes I have! I still have occasional intrusive thoughts but on the whole I’m a different person now. The truth is, that many don’t like to hear, is that you can’t beat ocd, anxiety, DPDR by thinking your way out of it. Therapy can of course help but I learnt recently through an excellent course by Jordan Hardgrave that the build up of stress/anxiety caused by ocd is having a profound effect on your body and as made clear by Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk, ‘the body keeps the score’. The stress and trauma that builds up in the body through such a struggle needs to be released in order for you to be able to get on top of your thoughts and your anxiety levels. You can do this through progressive muscle relaxation, massage, yoga Nidra and breath work. You will begin to realise that once you start dealing with the physical build up of tension, your brain responds accordingly and you will be able to rationalise more easily. I wish you all the luck with your recovery, believe me, I was in a very dark place when I posted that comment and if I can do it, anyone can.

I know the thoughts aren’t real but they are so overwhelming and so far from the truth that they destroy me. My mind feels like my biggest enemy.
@EasyPeaceMeditation
@EasyPeaceMeditation 7 ай бұрын
One of the most important things I came to learn was that my mind wasn’t the enemy. It had no ill will to me. It’s just a non-stop non-sensical thought machine. It’s still going now. The difference is I’m able to let it go an accept it for what it is. Letting go is HARD it’s a muscle that needs to grow.

Also… ERP therapy helped me grow this muscle greatly. And got me into meditation as the basic concept seems to be the same.

I looked for a vid like this for the intrusive thoughts this morning and when he says it's ok to be like this I broke down mentally. Holy shit :( I need help but at the same time I know reaching out I'll just be told to go see a specialist and all they'll do is give me depression meds..

I’d personally recommend reaching out. I’m in the UK and as well as medication they can sign you up for therapy. This was a game changer for me. I had ERP therapy with a really lovely therapist and it changed everything. A lot of the things I learned are so similar to the fundamentals of meditation. Which is how I got involved in this 🙂 I live a happy and healthy life. Recovery is possible you just need the right support. I hope you find it.

Usually with stuff like mindfulness for example it's best to do it at least once per day. Doesn't have to be for 10 minutes it could be 5 or maybe even 30. But doing it often is better than doing it for longer stretches.

I can’t believe this actually worked to help my racing mind. I’ve been dealing with high OCD the past couple of days. Finally, took some advice from the NOCD app. Didn’t even feel like 10 mins, and my ocd feels like it’s now at a level where I can sleep without panicking.

I have river access down the street.. I pictured myself down there. My ruminating thoughts are people. Whether I'm concerned about their welfare, them hurting me, or did hurt me , things i wish I could say, but I don't do that anymore. I don't say anything to the people who mess with me as to practice self-control. And I want to not react to some of the them gaslighting. So I'm at the river picturing them all on rafts drifting by. At one point, I pushed my mother in law in really hard, but then I had a thought to do it gently no matter how horrible she was. So I'm picturing separate rafts, then I say , "Here you guys ,here's a big one, and I want all of you to get in and go now just leave." I saw me in the raft for a bit, and at the boat launch ahead, I jumped in the cold, fresh water and walked back alone. I remember actually doing this, and coming out of the cold water to a warm breeze on my body with river smells in the air was amazing.

If you’re intrusive thoughts are from OCD, ignoring them won’t help, get a therapist that does ERP therapy and get on medication if you need it, when intrusive thoughts enter your mind simply let them be, pushing them away will make them worse, maybe try responding like yeah maybe that’ll happen or maybe it won’t or even say these thoughts are real and true.

I struggle with visualization. Do you visualize in 1st or 3rd person? And how do you visualize an intrusive thought moving down a stream? What does that look like? Any tips is appreciated. Intrusive thoughts and anxiety is like a war going on in my head.
@EasyPeaceMeditation
@EasyPeaceMeditation Жыл бұрын
I think it’s less important to actually see it vividly than to embrace the overall concept. Whether we like it or not, thoughts spring up and drift through our minds. Some pleasant, some not and mostly nonsense. With OCD/Intrusive thoughts the problem really arises in us not leaving the thoughts alone to conclude their natural journey (fading away and making room for new thoughts.) So if you struggle to visualise things in your head I’d say don’t worry too much about forcing this riverside scene into your mind. Its just a concept. It’s just about allowing thoughts to come and go without intervening. (Easier said than done I know. But my hope is this meditation gets people one step closer)
