I love it cause he doesn't know anything about ground fighting, just a few submissions, and he still gets these guys on the ground.

Bas was unbelievable for how little training in grappling he had. This fight almost looks like he had no strategy, he just throws one kick and goes down but his athleticism, toughness and wit get him through it,

I'm about the same age as Bas. Was active in judo and taekwondo in the 80s and 90s but even though I've heard about Bas I've never really seen how great he actually was. A gentleman/ monster😊

You can always tell how good the opponent was by how long the fight lasted. I remember watching his videos years ago. I went into boxing to become a better striker like him and won my golden gloves in 98.

Bas in my eyes is one of the baddest dudes on the planet.you can see the pain on his opponents faces.one of the only fighters i seen injure people so badly and ive been watching mma since ufc 1,we bought it on ppv when i was a kid

Also bas I noticed that in your earlier fights you kind of just splay out when they get your guard. Is that because there was no striking or did it help you plan next moves?

Should be a limit on takedowns when it gets like this. 3 seconds on feet head to belly and down for minutes over and over. The only enjoyment is to see Bas keeping a patient face each time he is decked. Edit: Just checked his first fight with this guy and it's understandable why he avoided standing with Bas, ha ha.

fantomseed I think catch wrestling doesn't favor hooks before RNC, and Bas learned his submissions from being the Pancrase catch wrestlers grapple, so he probably didn't know it.

You get that from grappling/wrestling, something Bas did very little of before he started fighting professionally. It's not so common for pure MMA guys to have it, but people with wrestling or BJJ backgrounds usually have it since they compete much more often than in MMA. And it's called 'cauliflower ear'.

If the fighter drains the ear, it should go back to normal. most of the guys who have it want it. its like you walk into a bar and you see the guys ears you know he has some martial art experience.

It's more difficult than you might think. You have to knee at the right angle at the right time, and people usually don't telegraph their takedowns. They even disguise them by faking with a punch first.

There are a couple of fights in this video series so far where Bas does just what you suggest... and it has little effect, he still gets taken down and the fight continues on the ground. It is rare for any single strike to end the fight between professionals.
