In this video Tim demonstrates how to march with indian clubs to build a strong resilient body. This is perhaps Tim's favorite way to "train." This is one movement that is great for your brain and your body. Give it a try and enjoy the benefits of marching! #originalstrength

I love Tim. He's a great addition to the "movement culture." OS can benefit everyone from "fit" young folks to the older adults among us who want to reclaim some lost strength and mobility. Thanks for the videos and occasional laughs.

I made a no frills version of clubs. I bought two kids plastic baseball bats from a dollar store (that luckily were black and not some bright colour). They're about 14 inches long. I wish they were a bit longer like the clubs Tim is using in the video. Also from the dollar store I purchased two boxes 1 kg/2.2 pounds of salt so I didn't have to play around with sand and weigh it. I cut an incision into the bottom of both handles that was just big enough to stick in a funnel, poured the salt in and sealed the end with duct tape. Less than $5 in total for those of you that want to see if clubs are for you.

What weight should the clubs be for men & women (assuming average strength)? Thank you, Tim!

Hey Daniel. For men, the 2 pound clubs should be plenty. Ladies can use the 1 pounders. Not much weight is needed!

Hi Tim, I’ve never used Indian clubs before - what weight of clubs would you suggest?

I think one pounders are great. Even using dowel rods cut in half work great.

Would holding light dumbbells by the end be okay or do you really need clubs?

2 pound Dumbbells would work. 5 pounds and more will disrupt your gait pattern. Wine bottles could work well. So could hammers. Just be careful!

Tim, I do alot of the old Heavy Hands work from Len Schwartz. I've also corresponded much with John McKean who learned from Dr. Schwartz directly. We've talked about heavier bells and John said the same thing that 2lbers were more than enough for the Pump n Walk to Shadow Boxing and every thing in between. It may be the best aerobic work that I have done. The exaggerated are movements allow me to get my HR right in the 120-150bpm zone no problem without beating my knees to death jogging.
