Trash is trash though, nothing new or unexpected. What gets me though is the judge! Pause and watch the facial expressions of the judge. Even when the behavior of the black defendant is unbelievably unacceptable, the judge is actually smiling, and talks to the defendant as if she were a 6 year old child. Very soft, very protective, even as the black woman rolled her eyes at the judge over and over. Then as she turns her head to the white women, her face turns into a scowl and she becomes much colder in spite of the white woman being the victim who was only trying to help people. I see this trend OVER AND OVER again. Black people are treated as children that can do no wrong, and white people in her court, especially males, she holds to the absolute highest standards and is short tempered with.

And maybe with good reason? It sounds like the typical broken family dysfunction to me. Daddy lies and tells his daughter the stepmom put an end to the child support so the daughter is resentful. Probably knowing full well the stepdaughter wasn't going to pay the monthly bill, the stepmom foolishly extended the credit anyway. They should all go their separate ways after court and leave each other alone.

@@LivingforJesusaGodisGood74If the stepmother was able to stop the father from paying child support, that's further proof of what a total loser he is. And just so you know, my former stepmother tried to get my father to pay child support but he refused. Prior to their divorce, SHE ended up paying it for him. She was such a classy lady she remained friends with both my mother and I until her death a few years ago. Even though, she and my father were divorced and had both remarried. My point being, you don't know whether the stepmother tried to get him to pay or not. But either way, the fault was HIS. Not hers.

It’s sad but if she doesn’t learn to accept things for what they are now she will always be angry. Dad can’t change the past but hopefully he will start correcting his wrongs now. The child support thing made it clear to me that she’s really mad at dad.

The child support thing was crazy on the defendant’s part, but JM was actually wrong when she said that you’re not owed child support once you turn 18. If the father is in arrears on court-ordered child support, depending on the state, the arrears may be closed out 10 years after the child turns 18, (e.g., Michigan) or there may be NO statue of limitation, (e.g., Georgia), and if need be, the arrears can, and WILL be deducted from your Medicare. I know of someone who is having child support garnished from his Medicare payments right now, which is absolutely PATHETIC.

The judge meant that she’s not owed it after she turned 18 in the sense that she can’t collect money after the age of 18 but any outstanding balances up until her 18th can be collectible.

Yeah plus the fact she was suing her step mom for it not her dad. Wtf that girl was looking for a payday and grasping at straws

The plaintiff said that she was told that the step-mom cut her off from child support, which is not possible. If there is/was a child support order in place, he'd be obligated to pay. Now, whether he's current or in arrears idk, but if he owes back child support, they could possibly make his wife responsible for it. Nevertheless, I just think that's some stuff she cooked up w/ her mom based off of anger and false information.

@Lynette51186 actually, a mother (or father if he's the recipient) can in fact request the cessation of child support AS LONG AS no one in the household is on medicaid. They can also request that any and all arrears be dismissed as well. I was informed of that exact information when we had out child support hearing years ago. My ex-husband is in arrears for both of our children, he is still paying for our son who is 18 but our state says as long as he's enrolled in college he receives support until he's 21. And he will continue to pay support for both of our children for months after our daughter ages out because of his arrears. It sounds like mom made a deal with dad a while back but has been lying to the daughter saying he owed money, my godfathers first wife lied to their daughter her whole life telling her he never paid anything but he paid religiously every month once they split, now she's angry at her dad and his new wife abd swears he owes her 18 years worth of child support even though he did pay.

What a deplorable attitude. But even if she was owed back child support, it wouldn't go to her, it would go to the person who brought her up. At 22 she isn't going to change any time soon, so sad, she is on a downward slope...

Bad enough the defendant as an adult is asking for child support but to want it from a step parent is just beyond narcissistic

If I was a judge and was taking time out of my busy schedule to deal with this case and also teach the defendant a good lesson and she rolled her eyes at me even once I'd have made her pay more out of her own pocket and not the shows pocket. She's 22 and acting 2. Grow up.

I don't think that no one taught her about paying bills. The way she's conducting herself, I don't think she's even trying to listen to those in authority over her, & she don't aim to either! If she doesn't get her act together, she's going to pay a much higher bill than she ever thought she'd owe! If she doesn't like being under her Stepmom's rules, she needs to go back out on her own! I wish the Judge could see every time the youngster rolled her eyes at her!

I’m missing something here… The defendant may be a piece of work, but the plaintive is one as well. You can totally see the disconnect. Stop calling her a stepmom she just so happen to have married her father. There is too much animosity for them to have that kind of relationship.
