Love the look at Phil Spencer, a man who reads enough KZbin comments to know, at some level, that making a dramatic montage of game cutscenes to celebrate your company’s continuing warpath of acquisitions may be kinda gross, but at the same time is still charmed enough by a nearly decade-old CtrlAltDelete comic to let that bit of restraint slip.

Ubisoft plus isn’t streaming the games. Ubisoft is publishing the streaming rights in uk. If a streaming service wants to stream the game in the uk, they goto ubisoft for the rights.

Not UK only, everywhere but EU since the EU regulators drafted their agreements regarding cloud streaming before the CMA. The weird part being that Gamepass through Xcloud for Activision games will have to be licensed with Ubisoft by MS.

As far as I know the cloud streaming concession to ubisoft should only apply to the UK.

I mean, Actvision Blizzard was shooting themselves on the foot for the past 4 years or so and I don't think they would change their ways, so now at the very least they have to answer to Microsoft, not that I think Microsoft is a spectacular company, but who knows, maybe something will change. God, I forgot about the whole "let's make Xbox a multimedia platform" era. People don't buy video game consoles for multimedia consumption. Why? Because basically every TV you can buy nowadays has shit like Netflix and KZbin built into it. Or if it doesn't you can buy a Chromecast for like $30 and use your phone. You don't need an expensive console. People only buy consoles to play games. I know, logically, that wasn't as painfully obvious in 2012 or whenever Xbox One came out, but it seems so stupid now. *note... put "Xbox One came out a decade ago" on the "you're getting old" bingo card...

The worst part about that whole era flopping is that there were SOME good ideas in there, like giving those who bought digital games the ability to actually SELL those digital games! They actually planned to let the all-digital future come with the option to re-sell the "license" of their purchase to someone else, meaning that even if we entered the digital age we'd at least we'd have some options on how to acquire games besides paying /O USD at launch. Now though, I feel like unless we somehow get governments to make laws about it that ship has well and truly sailed, all because they just HAD to rush the all-digital turnover and poisoned the well so bad they had to throw out the babies with the bathwater.

I don’t care about MS in any fanboy way, but I heard SO many journalists talking out their butt about how “certain” it was about not going through once the EU filed their objection which “couldn’t be overturned”.
