Oh wow, You hit the nail on the head with your example of a weekend vacation after wearing orthotics. That's exactly what happened to me. On vacation last year, walking and touring with my sandals and BAM! The dreaded PF came back to haunt me .

Totally understand! Not fun situation to experience at all! Re-injury and not being able to walk because I thought I was "good to go" was one of the biggest mistakes I have made in the past. I hate learning it the hard way!

I need your opinion. When i stand, i feel more pressure in my toes and heels. Is there a way to fix it? Or this is how it will be? My small toes literally feels like extra skin...

Now I'm confused on what to do. I have PF & my podiatrists says that I'll need to wear my orthotics for the rest of my life because im flat footed and over pronate. But then I also don't want my feet to weaken & develop other issues like you said. I stopped wearing my orthos after 2 months because I always felt "unbalanced" in them. Like I had to "clench" my feet to feet stable & then started to get cramps in my calves .I start physical therapy next week again ( I went before & got better but did not keep it up at home & now is worse). I also just bought Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 shoes, because he says I need good shoes. I keep being told that I literally can NEVER walk barefoot, without support ever again or it'll come right back.

I would strongly suggest finding a new doctor. That kind of talking is silly and to make such assumptions is crazy. What kind of doctor is it? I would suggest going to a graston/active release technique/astym therapist.

I've had two podiatrists say this to me. How long after I get better should I start to wean off of the orthos?

playaprinnces I wouldn't see podiatrists for plantar fasciitis. They only tell you to ice/stretch/use orthotics and they use cortisone and surgery. Thats pretty much it. What you need to fix plantar fasciitis is soft tissue mobilization therapist. And it is different for everyone. no such thing as a time span of "when". It depends on how much damage has been dealt on your heel and many other factors. Just go by feel. If it hurts, do not progress to a less supportive shoe or orthotic. If there is no pain for awhile, progress on to a less supportive shoe or orthotic.
