I also talk about how awakening is in many sense binary, look no further than the mechanism of a cessation/Fruition/Nibbana (many thinks it's the prerequisite to Stream Entry, 1st level of awakening which I go into more details in the end of the video), when the lights of consciousness completely switches off. You can't get any more on/off than that ! Not to mention the "final shift" is qualitative different than all the other previous quantum and permanent shifts. Any psychedelics you take pre formal Awakening is still within the dimension of pre-awakening, thus not a true glimpse of The Thing.

How do you know you're enlightened and that you haven't just hacked your brain to make it reset its impressions more frequently? I could imagine that would make one less judgmental and possibly more creative as much as it could be incapacitating, but why do you think that's any closer to enlightenment? And why do you think there's any such thing as Enlightenment with a capital E? How do you know our collective consciousness' plan isn't just to experience a fractional consciousness for a while to relieve itself from the burden of infinity?

dude I hope you only make your KZbin videos within this same character, that you always play out, because if you play it out 24/7, you are going to end up miserable. I say this because I care for you, not because I feel the need to change you. i'm not in resistance, I can appreciate who you've become... but the way you were coming across, you can spot it from a mile away, it's a façade. come back to Earth, which is what keeps you grounded. it's completely okay to be delusional from time to time. keep ascending in your spiritual path, I wish you nothing but the best. with much love, Daniel Roque.

As an human experiencer... FRANK, I'm so happy for you and your happiness, when you talk about awakening!!! I wish, that all humans would bee freed of awareness.... I think awareness is another barrier to dissolve. Whats done is done......... My grandpa always warned to not fall into the last sleep.... But for me, beeing awake or awareness is nothing more than faping.... You miss the real thing if you keep going awake... Surrender, to the beautiful interpersonal play of peroples narratives or souls... Upload yourself into the stream of the thoisand narratives... Its more a story than anything else... Its more a dream, than everything else.... Enlightenment is still so far from real shit...Enlightenment is one narrative, one reality tunnel, one parralel with the nazi ideologists, with the gardeners experience. Again.... One of the many colors of the human experience. No different from the others... Enlightenment is still an illusion.

@@AaronLyons in the context of franks vid, "reaching for the moon in the water" is like confusing psychedelic states or god-realization (or any idea) as enlightenment. when in truth, those states are just mind-made concepts projected onto sensations. the last part of the poem, is just describing what enlightenment feels like.

I used to go into this zone on LSD. But only when I was dancing also. I'd call it being "hyper aware" and it was the greatest feeling ever. Then it happened a couple times while I was running. Then I started reading Ramana Maharshi and about a year later I was stuck in traffic and just thinking and then I asked myself something like "who's having these thoughts?" And bam!! I got shifted back into that "hyper aware" zone But this time, since I had read about some stuff about "self realization" I guess I thought about it more than back when I was 18 or 20 years old dancing. I was 34 this time and just instantly realized what "I" really am and started laughing at how obvious it is and how it had always been there. It's that silent, unchanging observer. It's literally the same for all of us. Fear of death instantly went away. I looked out the car window and thought about how that awareness is everything. It all happened in less than a second from having that flash when I asked myself the question about who's observering my thoughts

@jeanvu
@jeanvu 3 жыл бұрын
@@kucaposo3642 I don't consider myself a religious person. But religion can be any form of belief that you subscribe to. So spirituality and enlightenment is basically a religion just like christianity and buddhism. You have a point. I saw how enlightened Frank has become from meditating, and it inspired me to take up meditation in hopes of one day being able to experience cessation. To be fair though, anyone who is born into a society is influenced by literally everything around them. Even if they consciously block out influences, the influences still make their way into your subconscious. And even the things that you consciously are interested in, you did not create that original idea if you get what I am saying. We are living in the realities and dreams of other individuals. We drive cars and did not invent them, we use smartphones and laptops and we did not invent them, we live in houses and pay bills and most of us didn't built the houses and we didn't come up with the idea of paying bills, etc. Everything under the sun is not our own ideas and creations. We are all slaves if you want to see it that way. Freedom is a lie. You are only free if you were born in the wilderness, and even then, you aren't truly free because your body requires food and water, therefore you aren't truly free. You are bound to this body and it has limitations and requirements. Oh yeah, it needs oxygen as well. I appreciate your comment. But tell me if it is not being a little hypocritical? You say that I am copying someone else's way of life. Well, are you not copying someone else's way of life? Is your life 100% original? That would be very hard to do. To be 100% original, you would have to be born far away from society. Never being influenced by humankind. Saying that the only reason I want to meditate is because religion has told me that it is good for me, is the same as saying that the only reason someone wants to go on an alkaline diet is because spirituality told them that it is good for them. Would you not do something that actually yields positive results? Just because you didn't come up with the original idea, doesn't mean you have to avoid it.

You know when you're going down on a girl & your tongue is getting tired & you're losing heart & losing drive but then you feel her starting to moan & move in that pre-orgasmic way & you have that surge of motivation because you know you're on the right path. Absolutely. After my enlightenment I truly realized how my thoughts create my reality. If I want to warp my reality I just decide the thoughts I enjoy and "karma" will manifest whatever I am asking for. So in practise I can play as God and achieve whatever I want, It is hard to motivate yourself tho, since you realise what is of truth worth now.

Thoughts on Do Nothing/Shikantaza? It's my main method currently, with the qualified addition of dropping thoughts/daydreams when they arise (not only 'intentions' as Shinzen says, which are rarer to arise. Seems salient to break the addiction to thought as well, otherwise the 'Do Nothing' is 90% daydreaming and fantasising, hence this qualification). Basically Ramana's 'surrender' technique. Haven't been doing it for too long, but I have tried many methods over the years, and I've come to feel recently that this is the one most suited to my constitution. I don't know, to be quite frank Frank, my response to your videos has been a mixture of jealousy and frustration. Been at this thing for a few years now quite intensely (I am 24) and idk, I feel like I've gotten nowhere, somehow just been ending up in self-deluded or otherwise fruitless places. Was exposed for quite a while to the non-dual scene in London, and that just seemed to worsen things. Just lots of self-deluding, strangeness and some psychological disorder, but no dice. Just feel frankly fed up with the whole thing, hearing spiritual talk makes me sick at this point. Totally fucking over it. Do Nothing/Shikantaza is the only thing of any relevance to me any more: just fucking giving up, offering up the mind. Everything else just feels like more cul-de-sacs and merry-go-rounds.

I can relate. It certainly is not easy being in this predicament. I am really looking forward to December 21st, 2020 in hopes of something BIG happening. I just want to find myself. Whatever that means. To finally be comfortable in my own skin. That is my definition of my own Enlightenment. That enough would make me happy. It just gets tiring being alive. And thinking. And wondering. I want to be free like Frank. I want to appreciate and love the present moment. Be high on life 24/7. But I am unwilling to put in the thousands of hours of meditation. But then there is nothing else that is more worthwhile than that. Why am I "wasting" time doing things other than the very thing that I should be focused on and living for: meditating in order to reach Enlightenment? I have changed quite a bit ever since I first started watching Frank. I wasn't even able to grasp or understand what he was talking about when I first stumbled upon his channel. But now I can happily say that I can grasp what he is talking about. But I want to actually experience it. Be patient, my friend. You don't have to listen to spiritual talk anymore if you don't want to. You just have to meditate for thousands of hours. It is not an easy answer to accept. But that is how you attain Enlightenment. Much love. Enjoyed reading your comment.

@@patrickoliveira8705 People don't really practice what they preach. You should be a master in your field before trying to teach others', or else your attempt at teaching will be in vain. And it might get lost in translation. I appreciate Frank for really being the embodiment of "Practice what you preach". Do you think I am nuts for hoping and thinking that something BIG will happen on December 21st, 2020? All this spiritual stuff can really get to you. Sometimes the spiritual community can feel like a giant cult. Imagine a world where there was a million Frank Yangs. Or at least people that are on his wavelength. If we had a million Frank Yangs as teachers, I can bet that the world would be much more free.

@@patrickoliveira8705 Well yes, that's what I was hoping to do during my year-and-a-half of attending multiple nonduality satsangs every week in London. Was looking to make a connection with one of the teachers and move to 1-on-1, but unfortunately I didn't really connect on a personal level with any of them. They were all awake, that much was clear from the energy, but the Neo-Advaita is just so fucking grating after a while, they are frankly speaking inhumane, and so as I say it's not entirely surprising that a deeper connection didn't come about with any of the teachers I encountered there. But yes, as you are suggesting maybe some virtual 1-on-1s in this COVID time, might be a good idea. I've been attending Jon Bernie's satsangs every week (a truly amazing person), but I think specifically organising a 1-on-1 is something I need to do. I shall look into Dhammarato and Alan Wallace; I'm familiar with Ken McLeod. Thanks. I had a 7-day retreat booked in with Igor Kufayev in Germany this month, but alas it was cancelled for self-evident reasons. And yes lol, spiritual groups (esp. the singularly nondual/neoadvaita kind) can definitely be crazy-making. Thanks.

@@drolgaws Yes, I am familiar with Akilesh. Didn't get too much out of his definition of surrender, everything I've heard him say on the topic as far I can understand it amounts to nothing more than Shinzen's well-known instruction, "As soon as you're aware of an intention to control your attention, drop that intention." Also, Akilesh's instruction to focus on 'ignoring thought' is vague to me (in practice), it just entails a slight expansion of the Shinzen technique - now we're volitionally dropping all thoughts, not just intentions. But yes, that's just the videos though, I'm aware he offers 1-on-1s too - he's been on my list of potential people to contact as well - so perhaps I should organise a session. For some reason I've been somewhat reluctant to organise 1-on-1s, there's some resistance there, not wanting to be found out or something, there's a feeling that'd be too intrusive. But yes, this month, I shall organise at least one. No point complaining and then resisting this. Thanks.

I think it’s easy for your personal biases and assumptions to put you in a position. Where you feel it’s important to congratulate yourself on observing the mind “natty” and it’s just as much an ego dick stroke to say meditation is the answer as much as it is to say psychedelics the answer; I just think that psychs give you a greater sample size of awakened beings and has undeniable roots in the cultures of pre historic societies, mainly used as compensatory tools to equilibrate the subconscious mind.

But I also think psychedelics can be a pathway for a more aware and loving life, specially for those who have been through trauma, like myself, and tend to have a rigid psychological structure. I agree enlightenment takes more dedication to keep the mind in that state.

If you wanna try and think about what it feels like when you realize the self I've got a thought experiment for you. Ok, imagine you are a fish. A type that lives deep in the ocean. You never jump on the surface up into the air or anything like that. And you're talking to another fish and he's trying to describe water to you. He's like "it's all around us! We're always in it" and on and on. But you don't have anything to compare it against so it's hard to get what he's talking about. Now just imagine what that fish feels when he finally realizes what water is. This is the point of the thought experiment. He's like "oh shit, that!?!? That's what you've been talking about this whole time??! It's always been here!" And he can never unsee it. Substitute humans for the fish and consciousness/awareness for the water. Of course its just an analogy. The point though is to put yourself in the fish's shoes and imagine what goes thru his head the instant he realizes water

I think psychedelics can help people to believe. They cause your mind to think "oh so this is how I can think, this is how aware and present I can be". Psychedelics don't do anything your mind isn't intrinsically capable of, besides MAYBE hallucinations, but perhaps with awakening even that becomes a choice. With this, you don't simply KNOW that if you meditate enough, practicing genuine contemplative fitness, your mind can be like how it is when you're tripping, even better probably: you will BELIEVE it too.

Alan watts provides an observation, the perception of observer is tied to the focus by which the thing is observed, the zoom or magnification to which we see things makes us believe that what we are seeing is separate to what the thing actually is. We see the tapestry and its marvelous, ordered and interpret-able, zooming in we see the thread, a messy tangled mess of fabrics, zooming in we see the marvel of the atom, beyond that a mess of electrons and neutrons... and on and on. I wonder if the scientific approach to magnification will one day render the cells of the body the exact universe that we are the observers of. like a mirror of a mirror. Explaining such states of observation and the observed are difficult to communicate, because the language fails to communicate it, how can you communicate everything, and nothing at the same time? the explanation, is of itself universality. Psychedelics seems like temporal magic, an aide to bring you beyond externality a sense that the observer is somehow integrated from the idea or concept prescribed to us, that anything of of our self is of the other. If an observer from space observed the earth from space would they be of the opinion that we are part of the organism cell or atom know as the planet earth, and from the observer on earth the observer on space would appear to be an organism, cell or atom of the universe. The difficulty of explaining this, is in having attachment, to the feeling, that someone can receive not the words, but the experience. Maybe there is a language being language, but how do we communicate that? I feel your struggle in being able to express the words but not the sensation. I enjoy your video Frank. I watch them when I feel my mind start to silo information and get too involved in the prescribed reality. Is the sense of presence and non-judgement in the inebriated state of psychedelics, the mechanism by which the experience is felt? And is the release of the bind that keeps the observer in the state when the drug wears off brings them out of the present? I don't know. Science is just magic that we understand.
