Fun fact: The girl who played Debbie is the real life daughter of the actor who played The Master, and the Master's dog was actually their family pet. No wonder that dog looks so happy.

Honestly, the moment where he like dramatically stretches out his arms to waken his wives and the shot fades only for it to fade back in, showing him sitting on his alter listening to his wives bicker and looking like he's just regretting every life decision he's ever made, is one of the funnies fucking things I've ever seen in a film. It...it's just gold.

@@QuintonReviews I beg your pardon, but actually the film is of public domain. I’m not sure if I’m remembering this correctly, but as I recall, the reason why it’s always been of public domain is because the people who made it failed to put a trademark on it.

The thing with Manos is that it is a MST3K/Rifftrax favorite for a reason. It is truly special. My is it like nothing else. And it is fun hanging around with others talking about the stuff around the movie. Definitely, if you find someone who sees it for the first time and you tell them all the little side knowledge. It is a warm cozy experience.

That part at 16:40 is genuinely one of my favourite comedic moments in all cinema. This super spooky wizard dude makes this big show of praising his evil overlord and awaking his four enslaved concubines. And it just cuts to him sitting on his alter listening to them all squabble with an look on his face like he's regretting every single life choice that led him to this moment. It's juts....it's gold to me.

This is the original 16mm Kodak Ektachrome workprint, cleaned up. The "Mystery Science Theater" version was a 35mm theatrical blowup that was dubbed to VHS or Betamax, because the rightsholders tried to sell the film to TV stations during the 1970s-1980s. Outside of premiring in an El Paso, TX. theater and a run though a number of theaters elsewhere, the film vanished after the 1970s, only brought out of obscurity by MST3K.
