Get ready for this fun, full body workout! Follow along at your own pace and burn calories and increase your energy. You can look forward to lots of low impact interesting combinations so you are never bored! Many modifications are also given so you can really make the workout your own.
This workout begins with our cardio section. There are 12 moves that are set to a 1 minute timer with no breaks between the exercises. Next we move to our strength training section. I'm using 5 pounds for all the strength building exercises. In this section we perform 6 exercises 2 times through for 45 seconds with 15 seconds rest to prepare for the next exercise.
The workout is completed on the floor with a few more strength building exercises, ab and core work, followed by stretching.

I kept putting off this long training “for later,” but today I finally decided to do it. And I didn’t regret it! I like your videos and have been doing a few of them for awhile. I only have one small comment. Some of the videos seem as though they were filmed separately from the music. Your moves don't always coordinate with the music but I still do them. I just get off beat a little.

I have done videos both ways Patricia. Some are meant to match the beat (all the walking and dance videos). Some other videos the music is overlayed during editing and is not meant to match up because I didn't film it with music.

Thanks again Lauren, l woke up to a dreary and overcast morning, feeling slightly depressed. But instead of wallowing in that feeling l switched on this video and started exercising....and of course now l feel energised, warm and grounded....no trace of depression. I love including your workouts in my routine. I really love the wide variety of moves and types of workouts. I believe the variety is one of the keys to aging gracefully.

Great workout, they always challenge me. I esp love your osteoporosis workouts. I don’t have osteoporosis but I have a lot of spinal issues and somehow my back feels better after those workouts. Any workouts or suggestions for short travel workouts? I hate losing days of exercise, though I do take two days break, but 5 days is a lot and I always feel like I’m starting over a bit.

Glad you liked it Joy! For travel, I think the barre routines are good, because all you need is a chair. Or if you have a resistance band, they are super light and easy to travel with to keep up your strength. Hope that helps and you have a great trip!

I did this workout for the second time this week. I love the combination of cardio, strength and Pilates moves. I read a fitness person's advice the other day, who said that working with light dumbell weights is of no benefit to gain strength or bone density. You have to work on the big heavier pully weight machines at the gym. Will try to find the article. Not true,is it? I cannot work on those big machines. I have shoulder and back issues and I am too short for those machines. I trust your input, Lauren.

I don't agree with that advice either Jeanine. Yes, heavier weights are better for building bone density, but any size weight will still have benefits. And, everyone needs to start somewhere and light weights are a good way to start in a safe way. Personally, I don't care for machines at the gym. The reason is they don't mimic everyday actives like dumbbells or resistance bands do. Dumbbells also use more of the full body because you not just isolating a muscle group like a machine does. Machines also do nothing for balance...I could go on.... Botton line, all equipment has it's positives and negatives. Much of it is a matter of preference :)

Hi Lauren - Thanks for all the fun workouts! I have a suggestion - I know there are issues/limitations with rights to music, but since many of us who enjoy your channel are in their 40's (like me) I'd love it if you could switch up your music now and then to include 70's or 80's inspired instrumental music. It would really help motivate me and keep it fresh and fun :) Thanks and keep up the great work(outs)!

I've been working with your videos everyday but if you could give a little warning on certain moves that are bad for a lower lumbar disc problem I would appreciate it there's the chair jumping jacks I will know enough not to do again. Thanks so it's really great I love your method

Again a wonderful workout. Do you ever use a fitness trampoline? Those are very low impact and and good for balance. Your kind of workout would work well on those. I would love to see your video on a trampoline. ❤

I don't mention calorie burn because it's so different for everyone. It completely depends on gender, weight, effort, age.... If you google "calorie calculator" you can put in your own stats and the type of workout and it can give you a more accurate estimate.

Good workout but floor work is hard to do after knee replacements. Prefer standing only workouts!

definitely a favorite! Lauren, I came to class low energy and after this workout I feel energized and every muscle is saying thank you....I wanted to tell you that I really felt my cardio and strength improvement when, last month, on a first time ever tour of the beautiful state of Michigan, I was able to do Sleeping Bear Dunes among other hikes. thank you ❤

Just found your utube site last week. Work out pretty regularly & now am doing a 55 day challenge to start the new year. Your sessions are so refreshing. Have been doing P90x for about 25 years & am now 66. Prob need to be a little more careful & your sessions really make me feel like I’m doing something really good for myself. I’m having neck issues with a couple vertebrae pressing on nerve. Dr says it’s mild & right now I’m taking anti inflammatory med and using 5 lb weights. I’ve been hesitant to use weights but the 5lbs do not cause any discomfort. Do u have any feelings about how soon before I could move up to eightlb? Will certainly listen to my body & I think when I’m using both arms I can start doing 8 lbs but individually it feels like too much weight now. I did your new yr weight workout this morning plus the cardio session. So glad I found your site!💪

I am so glad you found me as well Elizabeth! It sounds like you need to stick with the 5 pounds for a while. You definitely don't want to exacerbate your neck issues. When you are ready to move up I would have both sets of weights on hand, and just try a few moves or exercises with the 8lbs and see how it goes. You will also want to go at a slower pace when you increase your weights. Wait until you are good and ready and when your 5lbs feels too easy.

I've been doing the exercise bands resistance training, and wanted to try something else. This one is really good, too! Thank you so much for creating these videos. I've always been active and cared about staying strong as I've aged. It's been hard psychologically to see myself as a "senior," but I'm in pretty good shape. I mentioned to you before that I fractured my tibia about a year and a half ago, and it required surgery. Boy, did that set me back! But, I stuck with my PT, and I've worked hard to get back to the activities I was doing before. I don't know if this is reasonable, but I love step exercises. I have a step, and I've been looking for exercise videos that are fun (not just the up down basics), but not too fast. I see that some of your exercises are actually used with steps, too. Would you ever consider creating a video that could be used as either a floor or step exercise (I know not everyone would be comfortable with steps)? Also, I would like to make a contribution. I see that there's a link at the bottom of the screen for that, but you also provided a link in the "About" section of your channel. Are they the same, or do you have a preference? I can't believe my husband found your channel!!!

Hi Anne. I probably won't do a step routine (I don't own one), but you never know! I like your idea about doing a video that could be used with or without a step, so that could be an option in the future. I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos, it sounds like you are doing great in your continued recovery! Please don't get hung up on the "senior" title. If it makes you feel any better 40% of my viewers are under 55! Age is just a number and everyone is so different regarding their abilities. Wasn't feeling as motivated today. Decided to try this one anyway. Only had to rewind twice to get the feet right. Substituted a pelvic tilt, windshield wipers, and reverse crunch from your back pain video (that darn right hip with floor ab stuff). I really enjoyed it. My TV went to your chair abs video when it ended. I have been doing the standing abs. Gonna see how the chair abs feels tomorrow. Thank you for giving me so many options ☺

Ideally you would split it between mixed cardio and strength training. You could also do functional strength training.

I just previewed this work out and it looks great so I plan to do it tomorrow. I am not a fan of curtsy lunges and would like to know if you can offer a substitute move. I always enjoy your workouts!

Excellent full body workout with a great stretching finale. I was able to use 5 lbs throughout the strength portion. Very happy about that. I shared these videos with my PT yesterday. She was very pleased with them. She modified just a couple of the Pilates moves for my right hip that is angry most of the time, but improving. It was replaced 6 years ago but still has pain. Thank you Lauren.

I only now know this cardio exercise. Before I couldn’t cross my leg as if doing yoga exercises. Now when I do you’re exercise, I was amazed. I can do cross leg. Good to me and thank you to you. I am 65 years old this September. My concern are my legs🎉. I am suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

I've been doing your workouts for a few weeks and so far, I have enjoyed all of them. I've noticed how fast they seem to go. I'm 64 and had total knee replacement so I have a few limitations and my balance is weird sometimes. I am hoping this is the right style of exercise for me and that my balance will improve. Thank you!!

Hi Lauren after trying 3 different yoga challenges on the mat this week it was clear to me that these flows weren't going to work with my body. I have a new goal now to follow your playlist as you have clear instructions with a nice warm up and cool down that said I am sitting here with sweaty hair saying this is my favorite workout I loved this format more please even with the ad to get down to the floor I had to rewind the video because I didn't make it on time drinking water lol. I am glad I didn't go heavier than 5 lbs I need to be very careful what I do as I don't need anymore trips to urgent care with Sciatica and getting exposed to Covid and this is why your workouts are appropriate for me they don't feel like senior workouts anyway. I am wondering if it is ok to do Barre 2 days in a row? I was reading comments on a Barre video and see others have trouble with certain mat yoga workouts also. I am not sure what to do on Sunday's if I follow your playlist probably a chair workout or a dance or walk video or maybe just do meditation? I can handle your yoga but you don't do the fast crazy flows. You are the best Lauren.

Thanks Paula, you do such a good job listening to your body! This week's playlist is a little different because it uses light weights almost every day. And yes, it's just fine to do barre two or more days in a row. Just don't overdue it or push yourself, take a break and let your muscles recover when they are sore. If you wanted some more cardio, then a walking workout would be good to add on Sunday. But again, listen to your body, it may just need some gentle yoga or meditation and that's great too!
