A torch lights the path ahead, so I've long understood Kenaz as a rune that illuminates and shows the path forward (or even behind, if one were to look toward the past paths one traveled). So, when one pulls Kenaz to placed in a "past" position in a reading, there is a strong suggestion to look back and learn something or see something that may have been missed. Kenaz inverted suggests paying attention to the shadows cast by the flame of the torch, as shadows can hide dangers and concerns, or simply hide things that should be seen - dangerous or not. Kenaz shares a special relationship with Raidho (the previous rune in the Elder Futhark sequence) , being that since Raidho basically means travel, Kenaz can light the path one is traveling on. Arith, thank you for your rune series. Your explanations give me a lot to ponder on.

Your channel is so important to me. I have been on a lifelong occult journey but am only now getting into Runes. Your videos on them are helping them to take root fast. Its amazing and your work is more potent than any church I have ever been in. Actualy the Runes are the power but you do them honor. On top of that it gives the Norwegian metal I listened to as a kid more depth of meaning but that's the least of it lol. Thank you my friend. Also you should organize all your work and make it into an audio book. I would love to listen to your work on Audible. They desperately need more Rune books. I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

I watch an Icelandic youtuber because I'm very interested in the language and culture. Recently I heard of "kenaz" Rune. My sister "McKenna" is named in homage to our heritage. Her nickname is "Kenna", so in English, something that does, or that use to belong to her would be "Kenna's". She is an Excellent artist and is possibly wiser than I was at her age. She pushes my mental limits even as I'm 30, and is now in collage for the first year. She pushes herself so much that she suffers from meltdowns. This is to me, yet another subtle way the gods still require of us and appear in our chaotic and modern human lives. I liked and subbed to your videos, and I also love your guitar work! Thank you

I felt like you focused on the role of fire to keep out the dark, but neglected the role of fire to *explore* the dark. I see Kenaz as related to “kenning”, an intuitive understanding of secrets. 🔥

Mate, very good analysis of the fiery rune! I deal with the runes everyday and have a strong connection to them (some days even stronger), though not in a divinatory manner, but it's mostly metaphysical or call it esoteric relationship. I don't like labeling my experiences with arbitrary terms much! :D The Kauna or Kenaz Rune (and the other thousand names it has), is indeed very important and its aspects and meaning as a primordial element makes it part of the building blocks and the very essence of life itself. I've seen and read many interpretations, and yours is no less important, deep and interesting to hear and examine. I even find parallels to personal events that happened in my life journey recently, and when I really digest all the thoughts and the connections to the Rune and all the other faculties, it amazes me to the point were I wanna sit tight and write a book about it. ...(which I sort of do, when I have free time) Thanks for making this video, dude! I don't miss the chance when you release a new upload and especially if it deals with the RUNES. The very secrets of the secrets themselves! Keep up the stream of consciousness floating!

Ah! :D Thank you so much! I'm glad some one watch these series hehe :p thank you for adding information to this as well. By the way, how do you do? ^^ Hope everything is fine. Yes the runes are indeed mysterious and have great power, and work in a strange way. When we deal with the runes, it's weird actually the way it all works out and the connection with our personal lives. The runes indeed speak for themselves.

You're most welcome Arith! Yes I do watch your rune analysis videos as well every single upload you make. Call me nuts, but I recognize quality OVER quantity when I see it. A few channels on KZbin are on that same level, and i guess that's the way of things nowadays. As you can see i make videos as well, and i do put every bit of passion inside all of 'em, even if i don't have many watchers or subscribers. I don't do it for these. I don't do it for profit either. My videos have been DEMONetized for some reason. Anyways, not the place to ramble about that right now. We're here for the Runes after all. :) Ah well, i am good, thank for asking, and as usual i'm doing one million things at the moment! :D I think i might need to slow things down and hike in the woods or in the mountains for a few days or something. I spent time in the woods, but i need to do it more often. Apart from that, you know... writing, reading good books, drawing things, thinking of what to put on paper basically and making new videos when the sacred muse decide to possess me.

Maybe I never told you but I watch your videos hehe. I understand what you say. I also don't care about subs and views. I have this little community in here and I care about everyone in it of course. But my aim isn't to reach a number. I do these videos to share the knowledge and to leave a legacy. Also, it helps me to cope with depression.
@WitnessTrueSorcery7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know my friend. That's one the prime reasons why I started making videos here on KZbin. The reason was never to get any material gain or to reach a certain number of subscribers and then brag about it. Numbers don't matter here anymore. Maybe in the start they did, but things are changing. The things that matter the most is not how many people subscribe to a certain channel. The people are the important aspect on this platform, yes, and every individual matters. As long are he respects other people as content creators and if he is a content creator himself other people will respect him. Things will never be black or white though. There will always be the trolls the annoying memes and the passive aggresive hatred without a direction towards others. That's how things are and I accept it. Though this website has a very weird and seriously demented multidimensional side as well. Maybe KZbin is becoming a self conscious/self aware AI organism that will completely replace TV and make people view reality in a completely different way from how we do today. Maybe... Alright! Enough rambling. I need to pick up George Orwell's books again and dive in the deep of the deepest layers of the psyche.

Thank you Arith for this presentation. It is very clear and concise and I am sure useful for someone starting their path with the Runes. I must admit that of late I have neglected my runes but must take them back up as it may help me make more sense of my new life. About 30 years ago someone told me that Kennaz is my personal rune or symbol as I like to say. Back then I had a stronger connection to my spiritual side and really need to get into that frame of mind. After all the gift, from me has been given so I must now receive my gift in return. Tag for idag. (I never know if I spell that right!

Hello Arith, or anyone else reading. I am new to runes and was wondering; I am reading a book on runes that associated Kenaz with torch and fire as you described, but also associated it with 'internal fire' as in fever, inflammation, disease, and sickness. Is this another valid meaning or is it subject to interpretation? Thank you so much for your time and knowledge.

Hi, I came across your channel through your Freyr video which led me to the Rune videos. I was looking forward to this Rune specifically because from the way it appears Anglo-Saxons has this perspective with the association of fire (Rune Poem). But what is your take on the Norsk Rune Poem that paints a completely different picture?
@ArithHärger7 жыл бұрын
In the Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem this rune is associated with royalty, because of the fire that always burns in the hearth of the Hall, always being fed to ward off darkness, much like the Romans with the fire of Vesta, being the very spirit of rome. As long as there is fire, there is hope, protection and warmth, there is the continuation of life. In the Old English Rune Poem it speaks of its light and illumination and how it attracts people, coming together; fire brings people together and therefore there is an exchange of knowledge and experiences that enrich us.Both the Norwegian and Icelandic Rune Poems show us a completely different perspective about this rune. It is the curse/bane of children. Probably not only refering to the lack of a children's knowledge to control fire, but also probably refering to the children of Men - humanity - and the fact that fire doesn't always bring good things, because in the wrong hands it is a devastating power used as a "plague" upon the land, a dangerous tool of destruction.
@MjollnirMox7 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I have to say that this Rune always caused a bit of conflict with me when trying to understand it through the Rune Poems. When it says "Ulcer is fatal for children; death makes man pale." I don't relate ulcer and fire. But personally I always viewed it as torch and the deeper meanings as you mentioned in the video.
@ArithHärger7 жыл бұрын
Yes it gets confusing indeed when Ulcer has those negative connotations.

Ken the light and wisdom rune is English not ancient Nordic. North Nordic meant ulcer. An ulcer may be a fire that burnt in the gut. But its meaning was not that of Ken as in the English rune ken. So Tor giving light (cen) to humans in Norse mythology is just that. Mythology. The hope tree? Do you mean pine tree? Another English variant of Ken? It is surly very charlatanic for a Norseman to try to use an other nations torch light to try to explain their ancient beginnings? As if it is theirs. So is there such a thing as Nordic realism and historical realism where the Norse Norweyans identify with actual fact that they have changed their runes and started to use English Runes instead of their own? Nordic myth turned to fable, Lol. Fable or charlatanism.Hendal: the shinning god (spelt with little 'G') protector of Asgard? Lol. Revisionist modernistic creationist backward rewriting. Maybe for your next attempt to rewrite myth you could call the god: Candle, (Kændle). But maybe bear in mind the 'le' at the end of Kændle is of French, or Norman-French construct. So younger even than the younger fuþorc, ᚠuþorᚳ, (ᚠ ᚢ ᚦ ᚨ ᚱ ᚳ ). .
